Chapter 6
After getting pummeled by Shana (not hurt cuz am the big immortal) a week has passed, I'v become pretty good at cutting trees and Shana told me that all the preparations for the merchants has been done and my payment will be given after everything's sold, which I'm fine with. She also told me to check out the blacksmith and see if they need any help, thus now I'm here standing and waiting in front of the armor shop for the blacksmith to come and open the doors after a few minutes of knocking.
3 minutes of waiting later I tried opening the door and going inside to see if they were dead, and to my surprise there wasn't anyone inside, but I could faintly hear the sound of metal striking metal.
Following the faint sound I found the basement and the noise got louder, when I entered the basement I saw a forge suited for a professional blacksmith and an... [ELF!], this was my first time seeing a real elf, in the village there were only dwarfs and humans but no elfs... plus aren't dwarfs typically the blacksmiths?... well whatever.
The elf doesn't notice me at first so I try to get his attention and finally it happens. the elf got startled by my sudden appearance but then gives me a soft smile and speaks.
"sorry there little guy, I was so immersed in my work that I couldn't notice you."
"no worries man" I say with an awkward smile
"so what brought you here, did your parents send you to get something?" he asks with the soft smile still printed on his face.
"really... "little guy", "parents" dude I'm 20, 1.8m tall and even have a small stubble on my chin. do I really look like a kid to you" I say with a frustrated look on my face.
"I'm so sorry, I was still a bit absent minded, please don't mind that little mishap and start over again. I'm Marth the blacksmith and I can be a bit absent minded sometimes."
"The names Ymir and I'm looking for a job, Shana told me that you might need some help."
"Oh! Shana told me about you, she said that you are a hard worker and a fast learner, so I'll try to teach you everything I can and get you shaping metal in no time" His expression brightened up like the sun and stood up, standing at 2.1 metres and literally dwarfing over shana who's 1.4 metres tall, honestly with that height I would really look like a kid to him.
He spent rest of the day explaining and demonstrating how the tools and equipment were used, most of it was just normal blacksmithing tools from earth but the furnace burned with magic crystals as well as the grinder spinning with the help of magic crystals.
「Magic Crystal:Found in corpses of Magical Beasts and caves with high concentration of Mana.」
By the end of the week I had acquired both the 「Blacksmithing(low)」and 「Hammer Mastery(low)」skills, which made my job easier. Blacksmithing was quite fun and I learnt a lot of things with Marth, He was also amazed by my skills and decided to take me as his apprentice which I gladly accepted, but I didn't forget to practice my external mana manipulation every night or even whilst hammering.
Few weeks of practicing mana manipulation without the systems help led me to an amazing advancement, I am now able to create plasma and control few sparks of lightning as well as a small ember. [Hehehe, Ufufufu, Hahahaha, Mwuahahaha I have great plans of what I can achieve with my new found powers Fufufufu...]
