On his way to the cafe he worked at, Lucas decided to make a quick trip to the atm on the teleportation hub.
He needed to walk past it anyway if he wanted to go to the cafe, he would still be able to make it in time after he did a quick calculation in his mind.
Walking on the sidewalk, Lucas scrolled his phone mindlessly to pass the time until he stumbled upon a random post that mentioned something that piqued his interest.
"Did anyone know what I mean? You know you've done something, you remember all of it clearly, but each time you want to say it, you will forget about it."
Reading the way the post was worded, a certain event instantly popped up in Lucas' mind.
An event where hundreds of people were essentially kidnapped and forced to kill each other to save their own lives.
Lucas read the post once again and thought, 'Really? I can talk about it with Maya just fine.'
He then went to see the comments and reposts of the post and saw that the comments were also saying the same.
"YES! I KNEW IT! WE JUST CAN'T SEEM TO TALK ABOUT… I forget what I want to talk about. BUT I KNOW WHAT IT IS!"
"It's also the same for me."
"You all know what we're talking about right? It really happened."
In disbelief, Lucas tried commenting as well.
He recalled the events of yesterday just fine, and he thought that there was something wrong with these people.
However, when he clicked the comments and tried to write the events on the keyboard, his mind just couldn't find the words that he searched for.
He then shut off the phone screen and tried recalling the events, and there was no problem.
But every time he tried to type it or even speak about the events out loud, his mind just went blank, and forgot what he was about to talk about.
'Maya? What's happening to me and all these people?'
'Of course, the people in Gula didn't want your world to be aware of them too much and saw them as a threat.
They want to slowly integrate with Earth without making themselves look like a villain that your whole world needs to fight against.
You all have been put under a certain spell. One that automatically activates the first time you went through that portal that sent you back here to earth.'
Lucas then stood in place for a few seconds as he realized that the people of Gula really did prepare a lot for this.
'Well they even bothered to make a teleportation hub and money exchange services, how could they not make something to prevent mass panic about Gula.' Lucas nodded in his mind as he continued walking to the teleportation hub.
'So, I will never be able to talk about Gula while I'm on earth?'
After thinking about the answer for a couple of seconds, Maya answered,
'You and everyone else who had sufficient mana will eventually be able to erase the spell on your own.
It's a massive spell that affected millions of people, it wouldn't be that powerful.
Just say that with enough mana integrated with you, your body will have enough antibodies to fight against foreign entities invading your system.'
Lucas closed off his phone and put it inside his pocket as he looked at the medium-sized building in front of him.
'Alright, I understand. It's not really a problem for now. We also have other things that are more important to think about.'
Just like a building owned by a company, there was a large visible banner at the top front of the building saying, "Gula Inc."
'Not so much hiding and being lowkey aren't they?'
Maya didn't respond with anything other than a sigh as Lucas made his way inside the building.
Just like before when he first appeared there, the front part of the building was the receptionist's desk while in front of the sidewalls were the ATMs that Lucas needed to use.
Unlike before though, where Lucas only found himself as he was one of the first returners, the building was currently filled with other people.
It wasn't packed full or anything, but he saw people who talked to the receptionist, some withdrawing money from the atm, and some just walking around as if they were sightseeing.
As for Lucas, he already made his way to one of the ATMs and didn't plan to do any sightseeing for now as he was short on time.
However, before he could walk up to the atm, he stopped in his tracks as he recognized one of the people who were just sightseeing around.
An adult male with a big burly body and a typical wannabe gangster face was also staring back at him.
'Who is it? Ah, Tom?'
Lucas thought to himself as he recalled the face of the man who had told him to stay silent and let himself be killed before.
Tom had quite a memorable face and it didn't take long for Lucas to recognize him.
Lucas thought from seeing Tom's face that the guy would do something funny to him since he had killed him in an instant.
And considering the guy who had nonchalantly told Lucas to die, Lucas wouldn't expect a gentlemanly act from him.
Surprisingly though, Tom did nothing after staring holes at him and just turned the other way.
'Oh? That's not something I expected.'
Maya then spoke in Lucas' mind, 'You'll be surprised at what kind of change you can bring to people by simply having more power than them.'
Lucas heard Maya's voice, but didn't put her words to his heart and just did what he needed to do.
He withdrew some money, enough to buy a chicken bucket and some fresh meat for himself and his grandma, and made his way to the cafe where he worked.
Unbeknownst to him though, a certain burly adult guy followed his every step, trailing and observing where he was going.
And when he saw Lucas enter one of the local cafes, the burly man stopped and pulled out his phone.
"Hello, yes, I need some help for a little something."
