14. Internal Battle

Levana stared at the god. No, he was not just any god but one that was likely far more powerful than a primordial.

" I will take the Queen of the Gods personality, the one that you said was weak. How can one of your personalities be weak anyway? Especially one that is the Queen of the Gods." Levana asked though she did not expect to gain an answer.

" I actively suppressed and cut any belief that was linked to any of the more rebellious personalities or splits. Though most of the others tend to agree on our mutual goals a few don't. This one was one of them. It is slightly saddening to lose her, she is one of my few female personalities. However, this brings me one step closer to my goal." The god said still smiling.

" And the domain you want? In exchange."

" Can you give me dominion over time?" Levana asked. She already had an ability that slowed her perception of time, perhaps being a time goddess will suit her best.

" Oho? That is not a good pick, you won't be able to handle it. Time is a little too much for you at the moment." This caused Levana to raise an eyebrow. Hanok hadn't told her about there being dangers to getting domains.

" You don't want to explode from gaining a time domain, do you? You will probably reform a few years from now as a more powerful goddess but don't you have someone to save?" The god said with a wide smile, that had not diminished since Levana had given him a positive answer.

Levana gritted her teeth and stared at the god. It was obvious that the being wasn't even paying attention to her and was focused on doing something else or many other things at the same time.

" Space-"

" Too much for you, take something that is less a law of the universe or something more specific." The god cut her off before she could finish her sentence. The poor young goddess was getting frustrated. However, she didn't lash out at Ba'al. That would be rude.

" Travel! I will take the domain of travel." Levana half shouted seemingly getting desperate. She liked travelling, she had after all set off on this journey. Hearing this, the god's eyes finally focused on her.

" You do realise that I wasn't saying that you couldn't take the other domains you mentioned before, right? In fact, as someone who will be doing me a huge favour, I would prefer to give you a more powerful domain. Besides, that girl was a mortal, why do you care about her? She would most likely die in a few decades anyway." The god stared into Levana's eyes expectantly. Apparently, he knew that she had an answer to his question and was waiting for her to voice it.

" I promised to take care of her. So, I will." Levana said solemnly.

" You have already failed, yet you are not cursed. It was not a binding promise. You don't have to keep it."

" I MUST! I must keep my promises..." Levana repeated herself after her outburst while looking visibly distressed.

" Alright... Why don't I give you dominion over promises, contracts and oaths? Promises can be very powerful if used properly..." The god said.

" I thought you were only going to give me one domain?" Levana asked slightly confused as to why Ba'al was doing so much charity. However, the god seemed to have already made up his mind.

" They are similar enough." Thinking for a moment, Levana agreed with a nod of her head and verbally said so too.

" Alright, in exchange for taking away the Queen of the Gods personality and changing my name to... Levana Ba'al Kaer, you will give me dominion over promises, contracts and oaths." Levana declared. The moment she finished speaking, an inhumanly wide smile spread on Ba'al's face.

" Excellent!" With a clap of his hand, Levana felt a lurch in her body and power erupted from within her. Instantly, the young goddess lost consciousness. The moment she did, her body disappeared from where it was and Ba'al's image blurred, returning to its glitched and broken state. However, now, one of the blurry images that were part of the collective Ba'al was now gone.

...

For the first time in a long time, Levana woke up in a bed. She continued to stare at the ceiling for a moment before collecting herself.

" Whoa..." She shivered a little before letting out a breath. The breath sparked with energy emitting several concepts. She continued shivering as she sat up.

In a sitting position on the bed, she grabbed the blanket and continued to stare blankly as she shivered. Her body continued to twitch and shiver involuntarily as she processed and tried to overcome what she was going through.

After another second passed, Levana slowly got out of the bed using the bed frame for support as her body continued to shiver. Her eyes were unfocused, and a light sheen of sweat could be seen on her forehead.

Suddenly, she lurched forward and toppled back onto the bed. Then, she began massaging her temples attempting to ease the pressure in her mind. Her eyes were now in focus and her mind was back in a slightly more stable state. She quickly got up from the bed again and took stock of her surroundings.

Apparently, Ba'al had transported her to this hotel and had left a note on the bedside table. It read:

' Thank you for making a deal with me, Levana Ba'al Kaer. I hope to see you again one day. You will find yourself, in a hotel somewhere in Greece. Take note that your girl is also somewhere there. Good luck with your endeavours.'

Levana let out a genuine smile after reading the note. Then, she brought herself back into focus and looked out the window. She was in Greece now. Supposedly, enemy territory. It was time for her to make some preparations and locate Aethra.

Unfortunately, before she could get started, her eyes became unfocused again as she fought an intense internal battle.
