The guard commented as he made a curtsy. Richard and Adela both came to a halt when they heard him. They exchanged glances, but Adela knew him because it was the second time she had seen his face. He was the guard who showed up to watch over the area at night. Adela had heard from him that the library might have a secret chamber.
"Are you questioning me?" Richard said, his eyes narrowing.
When that guard heard that, he got tense and said, "No, my prince. It was only that I had never seen you come in the morning. Please pardon me." He promptly opened the door for them after saying that. Adela and Richard made their way into the chamber.
But before closing the door, Adela and the guard exchanged glances.
The door closed with a thud. "Adela, what to do now?" Richard asked, after taking a glance around the library.
After a while, Adela turned her attention to Richard and stated, "Prince, I will keep this key in its place."
