Red Star Potato Lord

"Ugh! My head!" On the highest floor of a massive, 150-floor skyscraper in the business sector of Narvas City sat a handsome young man with black hair and crimson eyes.

He rubbed his forehead with his thumb and index finger. He felt a headache that felt quite nostalgic and he knew the reason why.

"A message from the future. It looks like I killed myself again." Antoine Duketh let out a self-deprecating chuckle and then sighed in frustration as he looked at the message he sent himself.

"Protect Cynthia. Find the demons." Antoine started complaining to himself how it sucked to only be able to end such limited messages to himself. His power of restructuring an entire timeline came with the price of not being able to remember anything.

He appreciates the fact that he could send himself at least some information as he was not completely clueless.

"It's better than nothing. Let's see, I get what it means to protect Cynthia, my newly acquired younger sister but what with 'Find the demons.' I'm pretty sure they went extinct."

While thinking about his little sister, he phoned his secretary and order her to find as much info as they can get on the extinct demon clan.

He takes out his smartphone and pulls out a collection of pictures that detailed Cynthia's growth from a newborn to 15 years old.

'Cynthia is just too cute. A different kind of cute than my lovely Lillian but that makes it even better.' though Antoine as he smiled widely. His eyes contained nothing but affection for his smallest siblings.

He loathes himself for not being able to show his love for them due to a busy business schedule. He justifies his actions of neglect by convincing himself that all for their future.

"Since the message told me to protect her, it means that something drastic happens in the future. Especially if it has to do with demons." Antoine frowns deeply at the hundreds of documents on his PC that relate to the demons from the past.

...

Back in her room, Cynthia had finally calmed her over-excited nerves and sat down with a clear mind. She turned cold once again.

"The people I have shown my warm side is still only 3. The system is not a person." she convinced herself. "My mom, Natsumi, and my hubby. I hope he's doing fine."

[Would you like to start your trading right now or at a later time?]

The system was still floating in front of her face. She already knew all about her system's basic information as it was a part of her soul.

"Let's start now. Open up the [Random Trading Hub]."

[As you wish. Please select a Username before searching.]

The Interdimensional Trading System is a cheat that an unknown amount of people all over countless dimensions have access to.

It allows for the users in different worlds to connect and trade for things they might need. It can be done anonymously.

It uses a function where every 24 hours, it matches a person with a random user and lets them trade as they wish. Whether it be food, medicines, weapons, or information, anything can be traded if both sides agree to the same terms.

"Set my username as 'The_Dealer_Of_Demise'." As edgy as it may have sounded, this name had a reason for it. Most of her profit in the past was from stocks of weapon manufacturers.

They were known as merchants of death so this name was just played on that. It also works to hide the identity of a young lady.

Most people who read this name would think of her as an edgy teenage boy.

If they took the name seriously, they would think that this person is some maniac who goes around killing or at least having something to do with it.

It has nothing to do with a young girl like her who has nothing to do with weapons., yet...

[Completed username registration. Searching for a random trader within the nearest 10,000 galaxies.]

The search was currently limited to this amount of space. She would need to level up the system if she wants to truly trade across dimensions.

'It's fine, I don't really have much to trade with right now. I'm just a broke high schooler.' Cynthia has always been a decisive person. As long as she wants to get something done. she has done it.

She would never allow anything to get in her way. She was going to keep a positive mindset right now since she was just trying to get experience in trading across the universe.

Even though her world was filled with strange superpowers of all kinds, this kind of thing was still new for her.

Even for an experienced businesswoman like her, some things can only be learned with experience, not from textbooks.

[ Match found. You are free to trade with the user (Red Star Potato Lord ) for the next 24 hours. ]

The system screen then displayed a picture of a potato with a smooth, blue surface. It had a crown on top of it and had a stick hand holding a gemmed scepter.

"Hi there. Do you have any potatoes?" The voice of a friendly boy came into Cynthia's head. This was the voice that the Red Star Potato Lord allowed the system to play.

Trade was done my voice chat. You could choose a voice you wanted to display. Cynthia choose the deep and husky voice of a lumberjack she had once met.

With a little bit of modification, it sounded like the man had some sort of lung disease as made the vice hoarser.

If you were wondering if there can be language barriers then the answer is no as the system translates all the audio before you can hear it

"I do have potatoes. What would you like to offer for them?"

"Hmm...what is it you seek?"

"How about something like gems or gold?" The only thing that Cynthia could assume is this man is had to be could a strange person as all they cared about were potatoes.

If they not aiming for anything else, it means that they might either be rich, powerful, or both. Since he was able to ask what she wants, it means he has a lot to offer.

"Gems? Really, is that all you want? Hehehe, that's easy. Send me a sample of the potatoes you have. If you satisfy me, I'll add you and give you gems or whatever, whenever I want your potatoes."

The potato lord seemed very arrogant as he could easily clam to give her gems. When it comes to promises regarding transactions, you cannot lie as the system is part of one's soul.

Any attempt to swindle would lead to severe repercussions.

'I must be quite lucky to meet a rich customer on the first try. Wait, let's not count my chickens before the eggs hatch.' Cynthia knew that she would get nothing if Planet Gaia's potatoes fail to satisfy the customer.

"Can you give some time to go get the potatoes?" asked Cynthia kindly as customers should be treated well, especially rich ones.

"Sure. I've got all day."

Cynthia tidied her hair and wore a comfortable T-shirt and black sweatpants as she walked out of her room.

With her icy aura, she has avoided conversation with all the servants and walked straight into the kitchen on the first floor.

The kitchen staff noticed her but said nothing as they were too focused on finishing lunch prep.

She then walked into the food storage that was built using state-of-the-art technology as it was used to keep some of the rarest ingredients on the planet fresh.

Some of them even had magical properties as they helped boost people's mana reserves.

On Gaia, there existed tens of millions of people with some sort of minor or major superpower. They used these powers to enter and collect resources from 'Gates' or portals to unknown worlds.

The superpowers and gates that came with them have existed for over 50 years now so the industry is very established and stable. More about that later. we have potatoes to sell.

In the food storage were over 30 varieties of the most premium lines of potatoes. Cynthia took on of each and as they disappeared from her hands like magic.

No one noticed this as no one was in the storage. The dishes were all cooked so there was no reason for the servants to be there. They thought Cynthia just went in there to grab a snack.

She then walked back to her room casually. She saw that the dining table was almost done being set.

Cynthia waited a couple of minutes in her room in silence as she knew that the Potato Lord was testing their tastes.

She didn't know if he was eating them raw or cooked but had no problems skipping dinner with the family.

She didn't like them so what was the point in eating with them. Cynthia also didn't know what she would do if she saw the filthy scum named Oswin there.

She may be stable right now but she could guarantee her control just as yet as she had died only a couple of hours ago. She would not face that man until she was sure that all of her emotions were under control.

Cynthia also didn't want the Potato Lord to contact her during the meal.

"I am quite satisfied with these potatoes. They are not as good as others I have had in the past but they are perfect for normal people."

"I see. This may sound rude but may I ask if you like your potatoes."

"That's not rude at all. I love them steamed. Mashed is great too. Unfortunately, I usually can't find potatoes of such great taste without them having mana in them. Can you give a steady supply of all 30 of these?'

"Yes. That is very much possible. Give me ten thousand pounds of each of these and the following are yours."

On her screen was now the image of 3 pink diamonds of the same size. They were of the polished 'Fancy Intense Pink' classification.

They were of considerable size as well. Cynthia was surprised but was unsure what the prices of these diamonds were but they had to be of considerable value. She could easily figure out the value of these diamonds with some research.

There was still the problem of finding a reliable channel to sell them. She didn't the IRS to come to knock down her door so she also needed to create a foreign bank account.

She also needed to find a way to get her hands on over 300,000 potatoes of the highest quality within 24 hours. She neither had the money nor the connections to do something so easy.

Cynthia knew it wouldn't be easy to use the system with her current status. She would give up though as she would use any means possible. She had already thought of a way to solve her problems in one go.

"Potato Lord, can you give me a couple of mana crystals as a signing bonus. I'll also add in an extra 5,000 potatoes per type of potato," she asked kindly.

She had mentioned mana-filled potatoes to be common to this man so he must come from a world with mana like hers.

Mana crystals are formed in mana-rich environments like Gates. The planet itself has very thin mana so mana crystals are mined from Gates whenever humans can.

The dense mana in the crystals could be turned into quite a lot of clean electricity. The energy industry is one with phenomenal marginal value. There is a lot of profit to be made there.

Naturally, this makes mana crystals quite valuable.

"If this potato lord can casually give away mana crystals, my plan would be perfect." was her train of thought. It would also mean that the potato lord came from a place with an abundance of mana crystals.

"Hoho! Do you like mana crystal too? You must really be a fan of shiny things but that's natural. Those are worthless anyway. I'll add in 100 mana crystals for those extra potatoes."

'Yes! Yes! Yes!' Cynthia was fist-pumping the air as she knows the value of mana crystals very well. 100 was more than enough for her plan.

The Gate industry was heavily involved in the weapons industry as they needed arms to fight the monsters inside.

"That's a deal then. It will take me a couple of hours so I hope you can be patient."

"Hahaha! No problem. As I had said, I have all days."

Tok! Tok! Tok!

A female servant knocks on her door and says "It is time for lunch, young miss. The entire family is present today."

"I'll be there shortly," replies Cynthia.

She didn't want to go especially since Oswin would be there but she had to hold herself in because her plan depends on it. Cynthia could only hope that her willpower was good enough for it to stop her from attempting to smash the head of the trash into the ground.

She takes deep breathes in and lets them out slowly while talking herself down.

"You can do Cynthia. You have always been a beautiful ice sculpture to them and nothing more. Let's just hold it in. The plan depends on it."

She opens the door and walks down the stairs. Before walking into the dining room, she goes over her plan once more.

A plan that involves scamming the Duketh family out of some money and filling her own pockets with it.

What do you think her scam will be? Pass your theories to me. Sending some power stores along with that would be nice. :)
