"Damn It!"
Kangda was fuming inside.
At that moment, he had suspected there was an important person in that car, but he never imagined it was Dr. Zhao.
If he had been the one to act, urging the driver to help, as Qi Lin had said, the credit for saving Zhao would have been his. With such a strong connection, he could have won Tang Shu's trust, secured his family's standing, and even won Tang Yinxuan's heart for good.
But now, no matter how much he regretted it, nothing would change.
"Mr. Qi Lin, you're really brave and heroic. I can't find better words to describe you," Tang Shu said sincerely after hearing Qi Lin's story. He gave a thumbs up, impressed by Qi Lin's courage.
It's one thing to describe it lightly, but when a car is leaking oil, catching fire, and about to explode, how many people would risk their lives to save a stranger? First, Qi Lin saved Tang Yinxuan, and now he had risked everything to save Dr. Zhao. Calling him a hero wasn't an exaggeration.
Tang Yinxuan, who had been quietly standing by, cast her eyes down. Although she appeared calm, she had been listening carefully to the conversation. Upon hearing that Qi Lin had saved over a dozen people from the car, her heart fluttered with admiration.
Young girls often idolize heroes, and while she had resented Qi Lin for kissing her during the last incident, she was now beginning to reconsider her feelings. Maybe she had misjudged him.
After chatting for a while, Yushu still hadn't addressed the real issue. Perhaps he found it difficult to humble himself. After all, as a dignified chairman, asking a security guard for help wasn't easy.
Qi Lin's dark eyes twinkled with amusement. If someone wants help, they need to let go of their pride.
"Dr. Zhao is waiting for me. Why don't you all handle your matters while I go back in?" Qi Lin turned, pretending to leave.
Tang Shu, sensing Qi Lin's departure, panicked and quickly stepped forward. "Mr. Qi Lin, please wait! I have a favor to ask."
"As long as Dr. Zhao can treat Yinxuan sooner, I will be forever grateful."
Qi Lin stopped and glanced at Tang Yinxuan. His voice was casual, "Oh? You need my help? That's no problem..."
Tang Shu's face lit up with hope at Qi Lin's response.
"But let's be clear," Qi Lin continued. "I'm not doing this for your money. I just don't want a young girl like Yinxuan to lose hope."
Tang Yinxuan froze upon hearing her name. Her face flushed uncontrollably. He's not doing it for money—he's doing it for me? To her, it sounded like a confession.
(this is love ❤)
Kangda, standing nearby, fumed with anger. But he couldn't say anything. He knew that Tang Yinxuan's life was the priority, and anyone who tried to stop her treatment would become Tang Shu's enemy.
Tang Shu, unaware of Kangda's feelings, looked slightly embarrassed. He had initially assumed money could solve everything, and now, hearing Qi Lin's words, he felt humbled.
"Mr. Qi Lin, you're right. I apologize for my previous assumptions."
Qi Lin nodded, then added, "Once we're in there, leave everything to me. Even though I saved Dr. Zhao's life, I can't guarantee success."
Tang Shu quickly responded, "Mr. Qi Lin, you've already helped Yinxuan twice. We're deeply grateful, and we would never blame you."
With the matter settled, Qi Lin led the Tang family into Zhao Zhiren's office.
"Dr. Zhao..." Tang Shu greeted the renowned doctor respectfully. Though a powerful chairman, he knew he was in the presence of a man with far greater influence.
Zhao Zhiren barely acknowledged Tang Shu, his gaze quickly falling on Tang Yinxuan. The young girl's pale face and delicate features caught his eye. Qi Lin, it seems, has good taste, he thought.
"Young lady, have a seat," Zhao Zhiren said kindly, a gentle smile on his face.
Seeing this, Tang Shu's heart lifted with relief. If she's allowed to sit, it means Dr. Zhao is willing to help.
However, instead of discussing Yinxuan's condition, Zhao's first question was unexpected. "What's your relationship with little brother Qi Lin?"
Tang Yinxuan was caught off guard, unsure how to answer. She looked to her father for guidance.
Tang Shu, sensing there was more to this, cautiously asked, "Does this have something to do with Yinxuan's treatment?"
Zhao Zhiren nodded calmly. "I don't bend the rules. The only reason I agreed to meet you today is because of Qi Lin. And while I owe him a favor, our deal is that I'll only treat people who are related to him. If someone has no connection to Qi Lin, I won't consider it."
Tang Shu suddenly felt a wave of anxiety. If Dr. Zhao wouldn't treat Yinxuan, did that mean there was no hope?
He understood Zhao's reasoning. If Qi Lin saved Dr. Zhao's life, Zhao couldn't be expected to treat every person Qi Lin brought to him. Otherwise, he'd work himself to death.
Tang Shu was caught in a dilemma. Lying and claiming Qi Lin as his son seemed absurd.
Just when the situation seemed hopeless, Qi Lin stepped in. Without hesitation, he draped his arm over Tang Yinxuan's shoulder and gently pulled her toward him.
"Yinxuan is my girlfriend," he said with a confident grin. "We may not be related by blood, but we'll be together for the rest of our lives. Does that count?"
