(XXII) First failure (2)
In a dark, eerie alley, two silhouettes stood staring into space. The shadows were those of a young man with green eyes and a little girl---who was in his grasp.
The man's gaze, however, was fixed on the gleaming blue translucent screen.

Ruby had complex waves of emotions brimming through him as he gazed at the system prompt with a gloomy expression.
For one, it was the first time he had failed a quest. Second, it was because the supes had discovered his family house.
'Jav, what's the punishment?'
Ruby didn't want to delay the inevitable, so he went straight to the point.

Ruby grimaced as he felt a pang of pain in his heart. Now, he blamed himself for not using the shop points when he had time.
'punishments, so that means there are more to come.'
just as he thought more punishments were coming.

'Seriously, Jav? Isn't this too much? That's the only way I can gain shop points, for fucks sake!'
Among the punishments, no-doubt, it was this one that hurt Ruby the most because it was akin to taking half himself away.
However, it was still the same system that gave him the shop points, so he decided not to muse about it and wait for the rest of the punishments.

Ruby took his time to study the system to the point where he knew what it would spill and not spill. However, either way, he still tried his luck.
'i hope that's all these punishments because at this rate I won't be able to stand any more punishments!' Ruby yelled!

Javi's mechanical voice reverberated in his head.
Ruby grinned wryly as he awaited the (hopefully) final punishment.
[«Host should keep custody of the little girl for now. She has immersed potential that is ranked at the celestial level»]

'That means she's a superhuman?'
Only superhumans who might one day rival the laws of nature were classified as being at celestial levels.
And these beings were the rare to encounter because they posed a significant threat to the world.

'I'm so lucky. If those super organizations found her first, they'd have used her to wipe the villains regardless of her age.' Ruby thought as he seized a fast look at the girl before grabbing her hands before strolling out of the alley.
He scanned the surrounding area for supes before he teleported from place to place, gradually fleeing the area.

At the cave
"Meg, mun, I'm back!" Ruby exclaimed as he appeared in front of the vast cave screen.
'I haven't named this place yet.' Ruby creased his brows as he glanced around the cave.
Although he had made changes to the cave, it still gave off those sinister, eerie vibes that inspired Ruby to come up with the name.
"Nightmare cave!"

'Javi, what's up with all these hidden quests?'
Ruby had a feeling this hidden quest was just random because how would the system know what he would do?
"You're back!"Megan said as she sprinted towards Ruby and hugged him in a tight embrace.
Muna was behind her, a nervous expression brewing across her face; However, if one took a closer look, one would notice the tiny bit of blood revolving within her eyes as she glared at Megan's rear.
'He is mine, and I won't ever share him with anyone else.'
Muna made a resolve as she hurled her nervous face out of the window, darted toward Ruby, and snuggled him in a firm grasp.
"Eh?" Ruby was a bit startled at her abrupt attitude.
Megan's nose twitched slightly when she caught a whiff of bloody reek on Ruby. "Where you in a fight?" She asked with a gaze brimming with suspicion.
"Yeah, just a little scuffle." Ruby didn't dive into details. He didn't want to stress his girls over irrelevant things.
'My girls? Why did I think that?'
Ruby came out of his muse when he felt a small grip tugging on his shirt.
He peered at the little girl behind him. He flashed a tiny smile as he gently brought the girl to his front.
"Ladies, meet, Aella !"
The two ladies stared at the little girl with affection brimming in their gaze before averting it to Ruby.
Megan had a questioning gaze as she said, "Hon, is she your child?"
"What?!"
"Well, I knew I'm not the only one you were–" Megan didn't say the last part when she remembered the little girl in their midst.
However, Ruby knew what she wanted to say.
"Meg, I use protection," Ruby said shamelessly.
"Good! Because I would have ripped that thing in between your legs."
'What's up? Why does everyone want to cut that part off?'
"Anyway, she will be staying with us for some time."
"Okay," the two girls answered simultaneously.
"Meg, can you clean her up?"
"Sure," Megan replied as she took the girl in her grasp.
But at first, Aella hesitated as she cast a gaze on Ruby.
But after a head nod, she strode away with Megan, leaving only him and Muna.
Weirdly enough, Muna still clung to Ruby with her hands fastened around his neck. She used her moist tongue to lick his neck and playfully used her fangs to nibble on it.
"Are you tasty?"
"umu" She answered in a shy voice.
'Look how cute she looks.' Ruby thought As he noticed Muna's cheeks flushing rosy.
He tilted his neck to the side and gave her a view of his pulsing neck veins.
Seeing those veins, Muna's eyes glowed a fiery red hue as her sharp fangs lengthened, and she plunged them into his neck and started gulping his blood fiercely.
Ruby felt a blend of pain and relaxation as Muna thrust her pointy fangs deeper into his neck.
"Aghh!" She emitted a dim moan and yanked out her fangs as they retracted back to normal.
"satisfied?"
She bobbed her head and flashed a shy smile, which for some reason made Ruby's boner awake.
Some time later, she kissed him on the lips before sprinting into the other parts of the cave.
'Stay put, buddy, not now. you have important pending issues.'
With these thoughts, Ruby strode towards his leather seat in front of the huge screen and pulled his system screen up.
He hesitated a bit because he didn't want to see how ruined he had become; However, he knew it was for the better.
'I'm still gonna see it anyway.'

Ruby's mouth was agape as he saw the XP needed to level up and his shop points, which slipped to 400,000.
'The shop points are understandable, but what I don't get is this XP.'
He was flabbergasted at the amount of XP he needs to gain before reaching the next level, but if he could remember well, the XP for the next level wasn't this huge.
'Jav, care to explain?'

"Why is the punishment this severe?"
Ruby made a mental note not to fail any quest again because if this small quest can give him such punishment, what about the huge ones?
He gulped at the image of losing all his shop points and XP. 'At least, I still have a bit of XP left.'
A bit later, he dispersed the system screen and collapsed on his seat.
He brought out the old pictures from his system storage and dropped them at the table...he had grabbed these pictures immediately after he finished dealing with the cannibalistic superhuman.
Running his hands on the photos, the image of the huge supe flashed in his eyes—the supes that caused the death of his family.
'Why do I feel like I'm making small progress?' Ruby mused inwardly as he remembered his struggles with the cannibalistic super.
'Now that I remember, Jav, why didn't I get any XP from that fight?'

For some reason, anytime Javi mentions the punishment, It made Ruby's nostrils flare a bit.
'I guess I need to spend the remaining shop points before Javi pulls another crap.' Ruby thought as he pulled his system interface again.
"It's time to add a sexy demones to the squad."
