The First Closed Beta!

After walking the same way back. Zeo came out of the Dungeon. It was still a few minutes before the dawn. Seeing this he sighed in relief and left the place. After a few hours he came back to the inn, he has been staying.

'Now that I have got a weapon of myself, it will be easier to find more opportunities for taking the fortune of the protagonists'

But I must be careful just like last time the 'heavenly will' will take test every time I try taking others fortune so I need to be strong enough not to get killed in the process. Surviving is the main purpose in the life afterall. You can get other things later as long as your life's still safe. Just become strong and there will be not many problems in your way.

Zeo left the Richter city next day and bought himself a sturdy horse to accompany him along his journey. He bought all the necessary things and stored them in his storage ring. After taking a simple quest from the adventurer guild he left for his journey to the next destination:

'Let's go to 'Jarees' the port city now. I can get the ship for the Nigar forest from that place. And when I am at it, I can get 'the dragon sword art' from Jarees.'

In the game the Jarees port city was created as a center from where the players can have access to another places easily. There is no need to confirm your identity at that place, its usable to all. Even if you are a criminal, thus making it a criminal hub. You can see criminals walking there in broad daylight. But there's a tacit understanding among everyone that you can't cause trouble in the port city so as to make it available for all. And those who want to fight can go to the nearby arena there. These arenas are very famous in Jarees city.

Near the Jarees city there's a small village of 500 people. It is the place where the players will first spawn. I want to check that place out. There's a hidden quest there, which can be completed to get the dragon sword art. That's a very good sword art. It basically focuses on your strength and your body. It is basically tailor made for me.

Not to mention that's an art which can be used for a rather long time. I can use it until the mid-stages of the game. Actually, this game was going to be released with two different versions. One was the version where you can play as the character in the game like I described earlier. By playing role of that character you can experience the back story of that particular character.

But there's one more version of this game that is, multiplayer version. In this version you start as an unknown vagrant from the mountains near a particular novice village. You will have to work hard to grind and get on the favorable sides of the NPC's to get some techniques thus starting your carrier.

This version of the game gives you a very high degree of freedom in the game. You can basically go anywhere and do anything you want in the game as long as you are strong enough. Obviously, you can't do abusive stuffs, you will get banned, if found.

So, in order to check that in which version of the game I am in, I will have to go to that small village in order to check this thing out. While on the way I can also take that sword art too.

After thinking all this and planning his next course of action Zeo rushed towards the Jarees city.

In a Certain dimension, on a particular planet named: Earth –

A heated discussion was going on the internet, millions of people were waiting for a certain thing to happen:-

"Hey did you see the game 'Hero's path' is going to launch today at 9 am, all over the world!"

"Yeah, it has been 5 years, I have been waiting for its release for so long!"

"It was said that one of the main developers of the game died last night just before the launch of the game"

"Eh, is that so, what a shame, he was not able to witness his game's launch"

"That guy was really unfortunate"

"But the problem is there's only 100 slots for the closed beta of the game."

"yeah I was not able to get even a single slot, they got booked the very instant they were given"

Suddenly a message from a very famous streamer attracted the attention of everyone online:

"Whoa, brother firesword got the slot for it, now we will able to enjoy the game while he streams it, that's good!"

In a luxury apartment, a smile appeared on the face of the young boy sitting on the sofa. He is the famous streamer, FireSword, know for his amazing gameplay skills. He has earned several achievements in the official tournaments of several FPS and fighting type games.

He is also the leader of a very famous and big guild, 'The Sword Fiends'. Not to mention several professional players works under him, he himself have excellent gaming skills.

A few days ago, when he was streaming, he noticed several of his fans talking about the launch of the game Hero's path. He got interested and did a bit research on it. He found this game interesting and seeing the huge potential of the game, he immediately did a meeting with his guild members and booked a slot for the closed beta.

He didn't want to delay, because the late you start in these types of game the farther behind you will be left. To get a head-start over others he immediately decided to join the game. Although buying the slot from the original owner took him large efforts but as long as the game is as amazing as described on the official website, all of this will be worth this effort.

Just now he was checking the enthusiasm of people about this game and he had guessed it right, there's great potential here. Seeing so many people waiting for the game, he immediately became happy.

After a few minutes of wait, there was only ten minutes left before the launch of the closed beta of the game. He took his VR helmet and ordered his crew to start the stream. Then wearing his VR helmet, he laid down on his bed.

The VR technology has already been introduced a few decades ago, this one he is using is a luxury version of the VR helmets present out there. After logging in he immediately clicked the newly arrived icon of the Hero's path and started to wait for the game to start:

Suddenly his surroundings became blank and after a few seconds a very slow and sad background music started. The melody was very sad, the screen turned red and a scene of a warrior fighting in white armor appeared right in front of him. It appeared so real that as if the person was right in front of him. Protecting him from the monsters attacking with his sturdy body.

The monsters were present everywhere, as far as you can see, there was monsters everywhere and the warrior was fighting them alone on this battlefield. Suddenly a huge ogre punched the warrior with immense strength and the warrior defended the punch with his shield. His shield broke and his sword cracked. Yet the warrior continued to fight as if desperate to protect someone.

The warrior started to cough blood and continued to kill more and more monsters for a few seconds. But eventually he got tired, yet he was still standing with his back straight with the help of his sword buried in the ground. The warrior finally looked towards FireSword and said in a deep and sad voice:

"I won't be able to hold for long, now I leave the work of defending the humanity on you"

After saying this the warrior got silent and never speak again. The screen turned black, then he got transported to a place where several virtual screens were floating in the air. He looked at them and found that the race can only be selected as human.

After going through all the process of setting his account he named his avatar as FireSword and proceeded to enter the game:

[Welcome Hero, please work hard to become strong!]

[Now you are being sent to the multiplayer version of the game!]

[The role play version is not available for now for some reasons!]

When FireSword opened his eyes, he was standing in an open grassland. And he was wearing the novice clothes given to him by the game as a default. He immediately started to check his own body.

He found that he was in the same avatar he has setup for himself and the familiar name FireSword was shining above his head. Then he first called his status to check the starting attributes of this game:

Seeing the evaluation, he didn't know if he should cry or laugh. He didn't know the average strength of the people of this game world. But one thing was sure from this evaluation that he is very weak right now, so weak that even a chicken can kill him.

He looked around and found that the other players were also inspecting the surroundings. One of the players even stripped himself naked to find if he can use his buddy here or not. But sadly, the underwear provided by game is un-equipable item. He can't use his little buddy here in the game.

After initial inspections everyone started to look around and started to find something like a novice village to do quest. FireSword also followed and started to look for a village and after searching around this huge mountain range they finally found a small village at the foot of the mountain. Some players encountered wild monsters and trying to kill, but ended up getting killed themselves.

FireSword was already amazed by how realistic this game world is. He became excited and started to research on how to level up in this game. But even after completing quests and several tasks from the native NPC's of the small village he was not able to find much.

One surprising thing was that every single NPC has his own personality in this game. It is as if they have their own will. Due to this it was rather difficult for the players to get in the village. The people were wary of them and thought of them as a stranger.

He also found that this village is rather remote and the nearest city is the port city of Jarees from here. But it will take about a week to reach that city. So, he decided not to go there temporarily, he can visit that place when the next closed Beta will open.
