Ch.15

Emi couldn't sleep, her mind was too occupied with what happened earlier. She decided to study her new stats and skills, so no more surprises or mess-ups like at the training area.

"HP 2500, MP 5000, Strength 500, Endurance 500, Senses 600, Divinity 999, Speed 700…."

The numbers were high. The transfer gave Emi a large boost alright. She was stronger than Ramírez, and divinity at 999 that's the max even the Queen has yet reached.

She looked over the techniques and magic skills lists. She already used Hell's Hurricane earlier, and Emi wanted to check on it again out of curiosity.

"Hell's Hurricane. God-level attack spell. The caster creates a small cyclone of air and fire into a linear strike at the enemy."

"Interesting, what else can I use?"

"List of attack spells: Hell's Hurricane, Heaven's Storm, Earth's Rumble, Cross of Judgement. List of Passive Skills: Auto-recovery, Divine Immunity, Eye of the Serpent. Unique skills: Genesis Rise, Unknown Skill, Unknown Skill."

'Unknown huh?'

Emi knew what that meant. Certain skills needed to be unlocked by meeting criteria that would benefit her in the future. She already had lots of questions on what her skills could do but for now, she decided to focus one at a time. No need to rush and hurt herself, more thrill in discovering new things

Emi checked the Genesis Rise skill, it said she acquired more parts after fighting Mishna raising her success slightly more than it was originally.

She heard the door to her room knock. She closed the skill menu and nodded to Vice to go into sleep mode. Emi walked up to her door to greet her guest, it was Ramírez.

"Hey Emi, you have a moment to spare? Wanted to talk with you." Emi gave a faint smile, she put on her slippers and a robe, walking with Ramírez to the balcony from her floor.

Ramírez leaned over the balcony looking out to the horizon. Emi stood stood still looking at him.

"It's been a while since we just had a moment like this huh? Not since when we were kids."

"It has been that long has it."

Ramírez sighed, he turned to look at Emi.

"Hard to believe, not too long ago you were covered in grease and dirt fixing up parts, now look at you. You turned into a bombshell overnight. Amazing what a Makaizer can do to you."

Emi blushed clutching her robe. He never called her that before.

"Emi, I got to ask. What exactly happened? Just what was going through your head during that match?"

"Pardon?"

"You know what I mean. You didn't seem yourself. You were ruthless, you really hurt that girl bad, and worse you smiled during it."

Ramírez stood up in front of Emi, Emi was confused about what he wanted.

"Emi did that Makaizer do something to you? I know you're not a violent person. You're a good soul, you would never act that way."

Emi was offended. Ramírez clearly didn't know how much anger she had from the way Mishna treated her. Worse, he was insulting Vice, that wasn't ok with her.

"Come on, you can tell me, did that thing make you do that."

"No, no one made me do anything. She deserved what I did to her."

Ramírez grabbed Emi's shoulders, his face expressing worry on it. While Emi's was stoic.

"Emi you don't mean that."

The stoic expression was turning to disgust. She couldn't hold it in anymore.

"Yes, I do you jackass! Do you have any idea what I've been through after you left to join your precious guild? You left me behind, I needed you. I was basically bought as a slave to that fat disgusting pig. He starved me most of my life, he beat me like an animal, and worse when I cried. He stole my ideas, MY ideas, and passed them on his own to make his wallet full off of my misery."

Her fist clenched the robe hard, Ramírez couldn't believe the hate in her voice.

"Why didn't you tell me, I could have used my connections to help you."

"Really, then why didn't you?" He had no answer to give Emi. "You only visited once a month in the beginning then maybe a year or two. The last time I saw you, you only bragged about your last quest, you never asked about me. How did you not notice I was in pain? The bruises or trembling in my hands. You didn't notice at all you were just self-absorbed in your pride and glory you threw me away like a broken toy."

Emi slapped his hands off her, she turned her back trying to fight back her tears.

"Emi, I'm sorry I didn't know. I mean Seth would mention something but I never found anything wrong at the times I visited."

"Didn't know? Screw you! Seth nearly was arrested trying to defend me at one point. You know he used the platinum coins he worked his whole life for his retirement to help and adopt me. You with all your connections didn't do anything you selfish prick."

Ramírez's eyes widened. He had no idea Emi was in this much pain. He couldn't even argue with her cause she was right in a way. He wanted to make it right, despite everything Emi was his best friend he cared for her.

"Emi, I can't even begin to say how sorry I am. I should have done something you're right. But I'm trying now and I want to help you. But I can't unless you're honest with me. Just tell me what made you change this way and we're did you get that Makaizer. I can help you. I promise."

Emi's red eye had glowed to the point the eyepatch was forced off. Her anger was at a boiling point. She turned her head to Ramírez, her eye piercing his, frightening him now.

"Promise, promise, you promise!" Emi fully turned around, she summoned the Sanzu Reveler pointing it at Ramirez.

"You said that the day you left the orphanage. How dare you lie to me again!"

Ramírez raised his hands, he tried to calm the situation, he couldn't however. Vice appeared again behind Emi, he touched her shoulder to calm her fury.

Emi felt it, she was getting out of control, and the pent-up anger was overflowing. She dispersed the gun and knocked Vice's hand off.

"We're done here, I'm going to bed. Vice, don't let him follow. I want to be alone."

"Emi wait…"

"Go to hell!" She shouted then ran off.

Ramírez felt defeated. Like he lost something precious to him. His sad face changed to hate when he looked at Vice.

"You! You did something to her didn't you."

Vice didn't reply. Ramírez pulled one of his guns out in front of Vice's face, but Vice was quick, he had a knife to Ramírez's stomach.

"What did you do to Emi?"

"Nothing, she's being herself."

"Don't screw with me!"

"I'm not you're just stupid. Did you really think someone who had been through what she has would hold in her disgust forever? Emi's letting it all come to light and you're not helping. If you're her friend as you say then leave her alone she doesn't need someone as weak as you pretending to be a hero when he's the fool."

Vice removed the knife from Ramírez's stomach, he headed back to the room to check on Emi.

"You're a liar. I don't give a damn what you said I know her and when I find out who you really are I'll do what is necessary to save her from you."

"You can try, but you'll still be a fool in her eyes."

"Oh, and what am I to you." Vice stopped to answer his question.

"A lost little boy clinging to a past he threw away for a future he can never have."

Vice finally left, Ramírez stood still for a moment, his hands and teeth clenched intensely.

"That son of a...."
