Vial Secrets

“Secrets are power, and mine is worth more than a little trouble to maintain…” —— It took a long time for me to truly understand what happened that day. That was the day that I began to learn how the world really worked. My father was right, the most important things couldn't be bought with money… things like innocence, friendship, security, justice... precious things that could be snatched away so easily. You couldn't buy them with money… ...but perhaps you could buy them with another currency. Perhaps you could buy them with power… …and with secrets. —— A Mistborn story. Completed for now!

Author’s Note

As I said at the beginning, this was an attempt to put something worthwhile up for an author badge. I've done that and managed to get up everything that I'd planned.

If you're wondering what happens next, I'm in as much suspense as you!

Lyvia, Deserea and Zayde are all characters created for an RP that is yet to be played. What you've just read is their backstory and the setup for the adventure they're about to take. Consider it The Prologue.

I may return one day with the rest of the story.

Maybe someone will be inspired by one of the characters, or will just enjoy this story for what it is, or maybe they'll leave feeling much better about their own writing… but whatever it is that brought you to this point, thank you for joining me!

I've enjoyed this experience more than I expected and appreciate the support.

If you liked this story or this world, check out the inspiration, The Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson. Infinitely better than what you read here. (If you want me to sing it's praises and convince you, I'm just a comment away.)

I do have a story from the same Mistborn world written a couple years ago… It's about three members of a thieving crew that suddenly find themselves on their own after a heist goes terribly wrong. Definitely much lighter content than Vial Secrets, but similar in that it's the story of the RP. It is, however, longer and actually a complete story. Just… well, a bit comical because you're at the mercy of the dice roll. And we were terrible, terrible rollers… But I might edit that and post it, just for kicks. We'll see.

Thank you!

And remember—there's always another secret.
