"Shit, he actually saw me". At the moment, Lucas felt a wave of helplessness. He jumped down from his hiding spot on the tree and appeared before the middle aged man. The reason he did so was because he could guess the man was way stronger than him. If he was stronger, he would definitely be faster.
Not to mention the fact that he saw through his concealment, it was precisely that he had shot out a longing gaze that the man managed to spot him. Otherwise the man would have been too concerned with the fruit to notice. However, he was sure that if this man deliberately tried to see through his concealment, he could do it.
"Hump, who are you?" The middle aged man looked at Lucas with a complicated expression. "Judging from his age, tattered clothing and slightly unbearable stench, this kid shouldn't be part of these bandits". The middle aged man summarised.
Actually he was secretly taken aback. This kid had managed to hide from him and observe while he didn't even notice. If not for the kid shooting out his gaze, he would have most likely stayed hidden.
Such strong concealment abilities was top notch for a kid his age. There was a high chance that if he grew to get an Assassin based Spatial class, he would have a boundless future. Out of curiosity, he used a Spatial skill that belonged to his Spatial class to inspect this kids cultivation base.
"Soul lining Spatial skill/ Eye of the beholder".
However he was bound to be disappointed. "He is only at the fourth level of the Dawn tier grade".
The middle aged man sighed inwardly. If only the man's base was a little higher. From the looks of it, this man must be a pauper or a beggar, and he must have had a longing gaze for the fruit because he was hungry. such strength was actually astounding considering the fact that he doesn't have the necessary conditions for cultivating. However he was behind his generation in terms of strength. "If only his cultivation base was higher, I could have brought him under me for that event".
"Even if he has talent, he won't be able to get to the required level within a few months". The middle aged man shook his head, to him, this young man wasn't worth his time. If Lucas could hear his thoughts, he wouldn't know wether to laugh or cry.
"Senior, I am not sure". Seeing that the man was much more powerful than h, he didn't dare be discourteous and continued. "I have no ill intent, I am just lost and need some clothes. I saw you defeating the robbers earlier and thought of taking their clothes for myself".
In fact, Lucas indeed have such ideas. The dead don't need possessions anyway, it would be considered wasteful if he didn't help the bandit use their stuff.
"You are not sure?" Hearing this, the middle aged man frowned slightly but his expression eased up eventually.
He then took the fruit in his hands and glanced at Lucas one more time. "The city is in that direction, with your strength, it is remarkable how you are still alive here. Make sure you leave the woods before it gets dark".
After that he leaped upwards and disappeared into the forest. Lucas heaved a sigh of relief. He was worried the other party would kill him just because he had seen the spatial class energy fruit.
The Spatial class energy fruit was extremely precious for any cultivator about to obtain a spatial class.
Like previously said, a spatial class could not be chosen, it could only be slightly influenced, however that didn't mean it would go anyone's way.
Young cultivators wouldn't cultivate a particular spatial method and would just try to increase their base strength. The reason being that was that for example, if someone cultivated in a ranger based cultivation method and ended up as an assassin, it would literally be years of hard work wasted. Nobody could ever boast that they could control the outcome of their spatial class no matter how much they tried to influence it.
However, the spatial class energy fruit would help in the terms of influencing it and bring everything to a fifty fifty state. That was why it was so highly valued, also it was very rare. Even the fallen angel only came across a dozen or so in his entire lifetime.
"That guy is really lucky, to actually find such a fruit. If he hasn't broken through to the soul lining stage yet, it would be very useful to him, if he already has, it would be useful for his disciple if he has one".
After glancing at the direction the man went off to, he turned around and looked at the 17 dead bandits. " That guy must be very wealthy to not loot these guys that he killed, oh well, its good for me". Lucas said out loud with a grin.
Actually, it wasn't that the other party was really that rich, he was just so excited that he forgot about it when he obtained the fruit. Lucas went round and looted the dead bandits. He then found the shortest one with a slim body and took his clothes off.
The clothes were mainly red and black with a black robe. He then took off the bandit leaders spoils and found a rather peculiar black mask. "My luck is pretty good, I obtained a hundred bronze coins, 30 silver Arian coins, and 10 beast crystals. Arian coins was the currency currently used in the Arian Dynasty were Lucas resided.
100 bronze coins was equivalent to one Arian silver coin. While a hundred Arian silver was the same as 1 Arian Golden coin. Lucas proceeded to look at the plant that bore the Spatial class energy fruit. Now that the fruit had been plucked, it would take at least a hundred years before it could grow another one. However, a smile was seen on Lucas's face as he covered the plant back up with the bushes. "This plant will be very useful to me once I learn how to activate my mirror world".
"Its getting dark, I better start heading to the city. Not to mention that wild beasts will soon arrive here because of the corpses". Immediately thinking of that, Lucas shuddered slightly. He recalled how many times he was close to getting killed in this world. It really was too close, too many.
He then leaped up towards the trees and arrived at the river he saw earlier. He didn't hesitate and dived in to take a fresh bath. Taking off his clothes while in the river, he washed himself to his hearts content. However, he soon stopped as he became wary of his surroundings.
He could vaguely feel the presence of something stalking him in the river. It was circling at the bottom of the river while watching it earnestly.
Lucas's expression turned grave as he jumped out of the water with all his strength, luckily he had not gone too far and he managed to leap out of the river in a single bound. At that instant, a flash of light struck and the place where he was swimming was struck by a figure so fast that he couldn't even see what it was.
Lucas was gripped with fear as he unwillingly took a few steps back while being stark naked. Luckily, whatever it was didn't seem to have any interest in following him as the lake returned to normal. "Shit! What the hell was that? I gotta get out of here".
He hurriedly put on the bandit clothes that was slightly bigger than him and fled the scene. He leaped from tree to tree and eventually slowed down after thirty minutes. He spent close to a day before he could finally see the small dot that had enlarged in his eyes.
About a few hundred meters away from him, stood a city that was completely surrounded by walls towering in black. The city gate was wide open and it was currently sunset as people walked in and out of the gates with ease.
Lucas saw two words written on the city gate. "Blackburn City".
"So that's what this city is called huh, its size is OK I guess. Its currently getting dark, I need to find an inn as soon as possible, I should find one that is not too shabby with my current wealth".
Lucas was definitely talking about the money he had looted from the dead robbers. He had to thank them for being so generous to carry their wealth on them. If they could hear his thoughts from the afterlife, they would most likely die a second time. According to the Fallen angels memories, Dagen continent on the mortal realm was as least half the size of earth back home. There were many things he had seen travelling throughout the lands in the search of ultimate power, however Lucas could not identify whatever was at the bottom of the river.
At this moment, Lucas had tossed the matter of the river at the back of his head because of fear. He walked into the city gates and headed into the small city.
Blackburn city was comparable to a normal small town back on earth, however, it was bustling with activity and commerce. Lots of stalls were open on the streets selling potions, weapons and clothing materials.
Upon entry, a gate fee had to be paid to the patrolling guards. The fee was about 30 bronze coins.
"30 bronze coins just to enter the city, these guys are too thick skinned".
"Yeah, they request such an amount for a common gate fee".
However Lucas wasn't listening and directly pulled out 30 bronze coins from his pocket. At that time, because he didn't separate the bronze from the silver, a silver coin shown in the eyes of the people nearby. The guard collecting the gate fee had his eyes lit up, even he as a guard would only get one silver coin as a salary a month, however this youth had several silver coins on him."
"Oh my God, a silver coin. This youth actually has a silver coin".
" Not just one, it looks like he has several silver coins on him".
"Where did he get such wealth from?"
The passerby's jumped into a clamor, Lucas was a little stunned as he didn't know that having several silver coins would be such a big deal. Back in the graymoore family territory, silver coins wasn't that big a deal unless a commoner was holding at least a few tens. The Graymoore family on the other hand, even a normal disciple could have a silver coin as a daily allowance.
Lucas had attracted unwanted attention. He quickly paid the bronze fee and proceeded to walk through the city gates. What he wanted to do was lay low for the meantime until he could sort himself out. However before he could walk in, a silhouette had obstructed his path.
"You, you are a bandit, how dare you causally walk into our city?" The young man that was currently obstructing Lucas was not a random guy however, he had a cold glint in his eyes and there was full greed on display on his face.
Lucas frowned subsequently, he didn't know this man before, but this guy had just chosen him as a target.
"Why do you think am a bandit? Is it because you saw my wealth and want to use this as an excuse to rob me?" Lucas asked with a perturbed expression.
"Ha! How can you lie straight to my face and say you are not a bandit, your clothing is very similar to a bandits yet you say you aren't one. Also, how else can a nobody like you have silver coins".
The greed on his face intensified by a level after saying those words. Soon the crowd that had gathered began to nod their heads in agreement.
"Am not a bandit, I just happened to chance up on these clothes and the money as well".
"Hahaha, you just happened to chance upon bandit clothes, do you think we are stupid". The young man that looked to be 28 or 30 laughed out loud and two more men appeared behind him. It was obvious these were his lackeys.
"Probably". Lucas replied indifferently.
"You bastard, you are courting death, now give us everything you own now and fuck off. Maybe we will let this one slide".
It was obvious that they were picking on him because of his young appearance. Lucas could see as the young man said those words, he quickly took a glance at a guard who was standing at a latter side.
It was obvious now that he realized it that that guard was most likely responsible for controlling this man to obstruct him.
This young man was definitely not simple, he was the nephew of a city guard and he had been placed under his uncles wing for his cultivation while helping out every now and then, either way, would Lucas care? " Uncle isn't very rich, but if I get this fuckers money, I would be able to improve my cultivation and finally contend with those top figures in the city".
At the same time, another guard frowned. He knew what was going on and really wanted to help the poor boy, however he ultimately decided against it.
In a world where the strong ruled, this kid would eventually be some one else's cannon fodder even if he stepped up today.
Lucas's face turned different with a cold expression after hearing his words and he nonchalantly replied. " Idiot ".
"Idiot! oh my heaven, is this kid crazy?"
"He actually called the son of a guard an idiot".
"He is courting death, too bad for him. Even though the guards are nothing compared to the various influential places in Blackburn city, there are still some people you can not afford to offend".
Lucas naturally heard the mocking words but utterly disregarded them. He then turned to the guard who was supposed to be the young mans nephew. "Are you not going to do something about this?"
"What should we do?" The guard who was called Chai Lee answered. "We don't handle any matters outside the city, since this matter is outside, we won't interfere"?
"Oh really?" Lucas suddenly beamed with joy, "Since you don't have any objections then don't blame me for being straightforward".
