Chapter 6 Spiked Hyena

Monsters and beasts were existences that came straight from the the other realm. The Secondary realms, realms aside of the four realms was practically home and source of origins. However, they would frequently find ways to transport themselves to the mortal realm through the use of Dimensional rifts, Spatial rifts or Transmigration Gates.

Usually, when such existences appeared in a remote village with very little protection from their lands that seemed like it was almost nonexistent. The village and its inhabitants would be wiped out in minutes. However apart from those methods, they could also be naturally formed by a leak in the dimensional energy of another realm.

There were subsequently, three types of beasts according to the Fallen Angel, however, they were Dimensions beasts, Heavenly beasts and demon beasts. Dimensional beasts or monsters came from hyper dimensions which were secondary realms. Their strength and power were ordinary and they were the types of beasts that were commonly seen.

Demon beasts came from the Nether realm while Heavenly beasts originated from the God realms. These two were extremely rare to come by and not just anyone would have the pleasure to see it in their lives. However even if one managed to see one, they would probably not live to tell the tail.

Heavenly beasts were formed in the mortal realm when energy from the God lands leaked out while Demons beasts were formed when energy from the netherworld leaked out.

Lucas did dare hesitate as he ran deep into the woods and ran for his dear life. Zander too did the same without thinking as he ran in the opposite direction in an attempt to escape. The Spiked hyena seeing that both its targets had split up set its sights of the smaller get faster silhouette that had disappeared into the forest and pounded forward with incredible speed.

Lucas put his level 1 dawn tier grade strength to the maximum as he ran through the forest. Unless the Hyena decided to go for old man Zander instead of him, it would be highly unlikely that he would be able to escape even if he got a headstart.

Monsters weren't the same as ignorant guards. Some of them knew no fear and their speed was faster and stronger. Not to mention it knew these woods like the back of its hand, lucas felt his face turn pale as his skinny figure ran at extreme speeds that his body could currently handle.

According to the memories of the fallen Angel, that creature was none other than a spiked Hyena. Similar to the regular hyenas back in earth except bigger, stronger and more vicious. Despite the fact it was a level 4 beast, a level 5 Hunter or Adventurer might not be able to defeat it.

"Shit, looks like I really have bad luck, it actually left the bigger old man and settled for skinny stuff like me". Lucas was extremely grumpy as he realized that the Hyena was following him instead of Zander. Now how was he going to escape this time.

Lucas ran with all his might as he moved through the dense forest, however, the spiked hyena stuck to him like glue chasing him everywhere and quickly closing the distance. Lucas had no idea but he had ran several miles in an hour and was starting to feel very exhausted. Still the Hyena had closed the gap between them to a few meters.

"Shit, if this continues, am gonna die". He ducked under a branch and twisted himself to charge course to the left narrowly escaping the Hyenas sharp fangs. He pushed all his energy into his legs and leaped high up with a single bound and grab unto a tree branch. Using the momentum, he swung himself higher before landing on another tree branch with both legs.

He dashed forward from tree to tree as he moved in the moonlit night sky. However, he once again made a miscalculation.

Growlll!!

The hyena leaped up and crashed against the tree, he opened his bloody maws that gave off a repulsive odor towards Lucas who had just landed on another tree branch. "Dammit, this thing can jump this high?"

Lucas immediately leaped off at the last minute, however he could only jump down instead of jumping to another tree branch as his body landed on the floor and rolled several feet away. The Spiked Hyena let out a low howl and bartender its fangs in anger at his prey that had been playing a game of cat and mouse for more than an hour.

Lucas whose head was currently spinning dizzy looked into the distance and saw a small cave, he gritted his teeth and brushed the pain to the back of his head as he picked up speed and ran. "Howllll" seeing lucas resume running, the Hyena was enraged and burst forward with all its strength in an attempt to devour him in one go. Its wide mouth had a complete set of rotten saber sharp teeth.

Hamm!

Lucas leaped forward and performed a barrel roll as he slid into the small cave. The spiked Hyena shoved it head through the cave wall attempting to continue it pursuit only to discover that only the head portion of its body could fit. The rest was stuck on the other side of the cave entrance.

Lucas looked at the snarling hyena that was constantly twitching and biting towards him and he heated a sigh of relief. However, the constant injections of the hyena was causing the cave walls to become unstable.

Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!

The ceiling that showed signs of caving in shook violently as rock pieces fell from the ceiling. Lucas didn't even take a second glance as he hurried forward deeper into the cave, if he stayed there, not only would the wolf block his way, the ceiling would cave in and crush him sooner or later.

The dark caves was completely devoid of light as the sounds of banging got further and further away. Lucas didn't stop his movements even though he couldn't see where he was going.

He closed his eyes and entered a meditative state as he performed the art of sealing his sight to enable the other four senses to help him navigate his way through the small cave.

Going back was unrealistic so he could only move forward and hope there was an exit and no monsters would come his way. After walking in complete darkness for a few minutes. Lucas came to a halt as his senses told him that proceeding was going make him encounter slight changes.

"Hmm something's weird with the path up ahead, I... Can't seem to figure out what's next".

Lucas frowned as he deliberated with himself for a while. However, he only had one choice, he could feel earlier that the entrance of the cave had already caved in due to some violent tremors. If he went back now, he would just be wasting time and energy.

"Looks like that hyena isn't leaving me any other options, if I encounter it again, I will most likely turn it into stew".

Lucas had a self depreciating smile on his lips, he continued forward except now he was walking very slowly with extreme caution. However after taking a few steps forward, his next step made his foot to slide forward as lost his balance and his whole body plummeted down a sloppy area. Lucas fell downwards at fast speeds and slammed against several objects in the dark that he couldn't make anything out of. Eventually he passed out while falling.
