Lucas had his eyes lit up. "What a powerful sword".
What was present when he opened up the box were sets of weapons. "I don't have any battle clothing now, but you will still need a weapon right? These are all beginner level beast weapons, you should know their worth!"
However Lucas looked at the store manager Gary with a puzzled expression. "He said its a beginner level beast weapon, is he blind?"
"I can say he is right for all the other junk in this box, however, he actually said the sword was a beginner level beast weapon".
Naturally, Lucas didn't voice out his thoughts and just spoke to himself inwardly. The sword that he was looking at was blood red with black touches in color. It had a unique design with sharp multiple sharp edges all over the swords body. From the perception of an ordinary person, this was just a normal sword, even people at the soul lining stage would probably think the same way too. However, Lucas could feel the faint almost invisible aura emitting from this sword. To a certain extent, it was almost dreadful.
"The swords energy looks like its being.... sealed, and the way I feel, its definitely not normal. But how and why is this weapon in the hands of this guy who doesn't recognize its worth".
Lucas had a slight frown emerge on his face. Gary who was watching him saw the frown emerge and added. "These are the best weapons around here, you can't find something better than this for the price am giving to you, plus from the looks of it, you won't find any good weapons for the Sun martial competition by tomorrow as every single one would most likely have been bought out".
"Sun clan martial competition, what's that?"
"You.. You aren't here for the Sun clan martial contest?" Gary asked with surprise clearly written all over his face. In his opinion, the reason why he wanted new clothes, battle clothes and a new weapon should be because of the contest being held to recruit young geniuses by the a large clan in Blackburn city.
"No am not". Lucas shook his head with a wry smile. " However am really interested now that I hear about it, could you please elaborate in more detail?"
After a while of being stunned, he adhered to Lucas request. Soon, Lucas had a clear understanding of what the Gary had told him.
In Blackburn city, there were three clans that resided in the city. These three clans were completely against each other in every way possible, it could be said that they were born rivals and sworn enemies to the extent that the hatred for each other extended from the elders to the disciples. However, in recent years, one of the three clans had been suppressed by the other two clans.
The three clans were mainly Sun clan, Kendo clan, and Katsuragi clan. For the past few years, the Kendo and Katsuragi clan, had been stealing the disciples of the Sun clan by offering their young talents who the Sun clan had managed to obtain major resources and rewards.
This act directly angered the Sun clan and reduced the number of promising talents in the clan. But the Sun clan still had strong powerhouses and therefore they weren't suppressed by The actions of the other two clans. However, the problem became apparent when the younger generation of the other clans grew stronger and stronger, while on their side, it was the exact opposite.
If this continued then in a few more years, they might be eradicated from Blackburn city.
"So basically, the whole purpose of the Sun clan contest is to find young talents. I am guessing that there will be a lot of prizes for the most outstanding ones".
Lucas said to himself while he pondered overtime. Lucas had already heard of Blackburn city in the old memories of the old Lucas. Blackburn city was a few thousand miles away from the Marcesfield city which was controlled solely by the graymoore family. Because of the distance, it would take two months to travel all the way from Blackburn to Marcesfield city. In that scenario, you would need to deal with unranked beasts, bandits and powerhouses who were too cocky.
In this regard, Lucas wasn't in Amy rush to go back to reclaim his position as graymoore family leader. What he was really interested in, was to gain resources to increase his strength before he returned. Even though the Graymoore had more resources, he couldn't be too bothered.
After listening to Gary's explanation, Lucas made up his mind. "How much for the sword?"
To Lucas, this sword was definitely something special, or at least, it gave him an ominous feeling. The ordinary looking sword gave him a feeling of slight dread, so he had to have it
"It won't make things difficult for you, just bring 1 silver coin for both the clothes and the sword".
At this moment, Gary had a mischievous smile on his face, to him, these items wouldn't be worth more than 70 bronze coins at most, however he wanted to sell them for a silver coin.
That was equivalent to 100 bronze, however the smile on his face froze and was replaced with a dumbfounded expression. This was because Lucas had directly pulled out a silver coin and dropped it on the table, he then took the clothes and went into the back room to change.
"This is..... This kid actually pulled out a silver coin nonchalantly as if it cost him nothing". Not many people could casually pull out a silver coin. In some ways, one silver coin was actually more valuable than a hundred bronze mainly because of the material it was made of. He as a regular store owner who did not even have time, plans or the energy to cultivate to try and unlock core energy had seen a lot of money. His shop was the place were people would usually come to exchange for illegal goods or sell illegal things to him. He had seen a lot of silver coins, however he hadn't seen someone as young as him casually pull out a silver coin.
He had just called this youth to see if he could get rid of some of his old stuff that he didn't have any use for but was unwilling to suffer a loss from. To him, this kid was either a rich kid who was ignorant and liked to play dress up like a bandit, or he was a commoner who just happened to stumble on some fortune.
He was more likely to believe the latter.
Soon Lucas came out of the changing room wearing normal clothing. It looked like clothing that would be OK for a commoner, however, if the old Lucas had seen himself in this type of clothing, he would most likely spit out blood. As the future heir and crown descendant to the graymoore family throne, how could he dress up like a peasant. However the new Lucas who was a former expert was well versed in situations where he had to wear casual clothing, so he did not mind at all.
"Huh" soon Lucas noticed the greedy gaze in the depth of this man called Gary's eyes. How could he not notice the gaze that was similar to that idiotic Chai kun who coveted his wealth. This guy obviously though he was some stupid commoner who could easily be taken advantage of.
However, Lucas was not in the mood, he picked up the sword that had been sheathed and walked out of the store. "I don't know where the hell this sword came from, but its definitely not simple". At this moment, Lucas was immersed in his thoughts as he walked back into the market. He brandished the sword that he had pulled out of the sheath and swung it a little. He was very familiar with how to use swords, he was the former ARK 1 of earth in his previous life after all.
The sword was light and he wielded it splendidly. As he gradually approached the busy street, he sheathed the sword back and placed it on his belt. "Sun clan martial contest huh! Looks like I should head down to the venue tomorrow. All I need is to make sure I don't run into any trouble before tomorrow and I should be alright".
....
"Sir, would you please help me with some change, am really hungry and so is my momma". Lucas who was grounded in his own thoughts did not notice that a little girl had walked up to him until she directly spoke. Her big brown eyes were sparkling with an expectant look, as she stood next to Lucas who had snapped out of his daze.
"Kira, what have I told you, leave this young man alone, he can't help us". Before he could respond, a disheveled woman wearing dirty rags with unkempt hair walked hurriedly to the little girl who had just spoke to Lucas. She had a beautiful face that was covered under dirt and despaired eyes that had an angry gaze but also mixed with sorrow and sadness when she looked at the young girl who was barely 6 years old.
Lucas could see that the woman looked 60% identical to the little girl in many aspects. Both of them looked dirty and unkempt. The young woman who was much older than Lucas flashed an apologetic gaze as she attempted to drag the little girl away.
"Wait!".
Lucas called out to both of them and looked at the little girl. "What's your name?" "My name is Kira".
The little girl looked at Lucas with those beautiful brown eyes, it made Lucas feel a sense of wanting to protect her. He reached into a small pouch that he had obtained from that fellow Gary's store and brought out three silver coins. "I don't have much on me, but this should be OK for you guys, here, take it".
The little girl called kira had bright eyes as she directly took the three silver coins from Lucas's hands and looked at them with a burning gaze.
"This... This is".
The older woman wanted to speak but couldn't let out a single word. Never did she imagine that someone would actually give her three silver coins like it was no big deal at all. Earlier, she could tell based on this Lucas's dressing that had was just a commoner, logically speaking, he looked like the type that wasn't too well off so she wasn't really expecting anything based on that along with the fact that he was only a teenager. However this teenager had pulled out three silver coins, it was equivalent to 300 bronze coins.
That was more money than she had ever seen in her life. The woman's name was Lily Farl, she and her little sister were orphans whose parents died while lily was still 17. Because she couldn't afford many things, they had been reduced to living as beggars on the street. Now she was 23 and was beginning to contemplate prostitution, however what happened today had shocked her to the extent she couldn't regain her senses for a long time.
"Big brother, what's your name?" The little girl asked looking at Lucas eagerly with her eyes that carried hints of innocence. "You can call me Lucas, don't worry from now on, you should be able to live off the streets from now on, I will take my leave first".
Under the eyes of the dumbstruck lily, Lucas continued walking forward to a nearby stall as he looked like he wanted to purchase some clothes. "Who is that fellow?"
"How dare you obstruct my way you little peasant girl?"
At the same time that lily was feeling puzzled, a loud arrogant voice sounded next to her that woke her up from her daze. She looked in the direction of the voice and noticed a youth riding a horse standing a few feet away from her.
He wore a silk robe with a red and white intrinsic pattern. His haughty appearance and the old man riding behind him was evidence enough that the background of this arrogant youth was definitely not simple.
"You actually stand in the way of I, Katasuragi Kai, disciple of the Katsuragi clan, it seems like you don't value your life".
The horse riding youth looked at lily with a gaze full of disdain and disgust. His loud voice immediately attracted the attention of the pedestrians as Lily's face turned grim. Lucas who was looking to purchase something also noticed the disturbance and turned around with a frown. "Who the hell is being so noisy?"
