Chapter 2: An opportunity to be rich

"Peter... Peter... Peterrrrrrr! PETERRRRR!"

A female voice was screaming Peter's name but received no response, so she started shouting louder.

"Yes, I'm awake," Peter said, still sleepy, and took out his phone from under the pillow.

"It's still 8 in the morning." He continued to look at his phone, soon opening the Ustargram app to watch short videos.

If you want to be rich, you must use unethical means to become the top 0.1%.

"What a load of bullshit this is," Peter said.

"What exactly is this?"

"I don't know, some useless shorts," Peter replied. He then looked toward the source of the voice, only to see a 19-year-old girl standing there, looking at him with anger.

"Didn't I tell you to come down and eat breakfast?"

"Sarah, I was just coming down."

"Don't lie to me. Humph."

"Hey! Sorry, babe. I wanted to go, but my little brother is not letting me go. He keeps insisting I stay in bed."

"What little brother? You are the only son in your family," Sarah said.

"You've seen him," Peter said, pulling Sarah toward the bed and gently stroking her head.

Two hours later

Peter finished taking a bath and came to eat.

"Peter, the college is going to organize a hackathon. Do you want to take part in it?" Sarah asked.

"Of course I do. With you and me, who can win?"

"Humph, don't be overconfident," Sarah said with a dissatisfied look, mocking him.

"Hmm, come on. It's been three years since we started dating, yet you are still being so petty?" Peter said while eating the fried chicken. "Umm, this is quite tasty, almost like CFC's chicken wings."

"Peter! Can you be more serious?"

"Hmmm?"

"Don't you know that the prize for winning the hackathon is 100k USD? If we win that, we will have no problem in the future. Considering our current situation, it's hard for us to eat even three proper meals a day," Sarah said with a look of sadness.

Peter stroked her head and said, "I know, and that's why we will work harder."

"I'm sorry, but I can't participate in the competition," Sarah said apologetically.

"Why?"

"You know my sister very well. She is too proud."

"That is reasonable. She became the owner of Gun Pharma Industries at just the age of 16, and in 10 years, she made it the second-largest pharmaceutical industry in the world. Though she never gives you any money... what a pity," Peter said, taunting Sarah.

"Hump. This time she called to tell me that I am supposed to manage the new branch of the company in our city, so to complete the official procedure, I need to go to the company and deal with the paperwork," Sarah said.

"Oh, then it will only be me competing?" Peter said, walking toward Sarah.

She hugged him and said, "Silly. If I make money, doesn't it mean it's our money?"

"How can I, a self-righteous man, let my girl do all the hard work?" Saying so, Peter kissed her.

After a long and passionate kiss, Peter gently patted Sarah and said, "Bye, then. I will see you in the evening."

As he was about to leave, he realized Sarah was hugging him tightly, not letting him go.

"Oye, don't strangle me to death."

...

...

...

"Sarah?" Peter called out after not hearing any response from her.

"I feel like I will never see you again once I let go of you. I feel weird," Sarah said this unknowingly; even she didn't know why she said this.

"Silly girl, we will be apart for just six hours. Can't you bear to be separated from me even for six hours?"

"Don't talk nonsense. Let's go, or Miss Betty will scold you for being late," Sarah said, finally breaking the hug.

They soon exited the house together. Peter boarded the bus while Sarah waved him goodbye.

They both felt a bit empty and weird, not knowing why.
