Vale Mages and Their Story

"How- ?" Lord Edmond stuttered as he tried to figure out what had happened. "There is a crystal on the border that shines if a Vale Mage passes it. No one reported it."

"A crystal?" Nicholas asked as he gave his grandfather a confused look.

Lord Edmond nodded in response.

"The king back then gave each clan a crystal to place at their borders, when the crystal glowed it meant that a vale mage had made contact with the field of magic around the border." Lord Edmond explained.

"How long ago was this?" Nicholas asked as he realized that the magic his grandfather had been explaining was quite similar to the barrier he had placed around the border.

"It's been hundreds of years, at least ten generations." Lord Edmond explained.

"Is it written anywhere who made the crystal?" Nicholas asked.

"No, why?" Lord Edmond shook his head.
