Death by a Different Hand

"One of them is dead?" Dion asked as he looked at the prince and princess both in shock. "How do you know?"

"The pain." Brie' face was expressionless, she started at a distance. It was as if she was physically with them, but mentally absent.

"Someone died without the help of a royal." Nicholas explained as he took a deep breath and struggled to recover from what had just happened.

Nicholas looked at his sister. It was clear that she was shaken, but not harmed.

"Did you feel it when I killed Edward?" Nicholas asked, worried about his sister.

She shook her head and frowned.

"I only heard of Edward's death when we were on the road. This is the first time I'm experiencing something like this." Brie looked like she wanted to cry.

Nicholas pulled his sister into his arms and slowly patted her back.
