Having hallucinations
When the beast emerged from the red mist, he could now clearly see what it was. It was a thornback beast known for launching thorns as projectiles. The thorns were so sharp they could pierce through flesh and come out the other end. The beast launched more thorns, and with a whoosh, they flew towards Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu pulled the trigger, striking the beast in the eye before dodging the thorns that whizzed mere inches past his ear. The beast growled in pain, its cry earth-shaking and irritating to anyone's ears. It charged towards the boulder, seeming crazed in the thickening red mist.
Xiang Yu jumped off the boulder, knowing full well that this beast had the ability to split it in half. Mid-air he threw a couple of plasma grenades. The beast, which had smashed the boulder into pieces, was suddenly attacked with explosives before it could even recover.
