Preparation

[Veleda] I looked across the horizon, all she could see was ocean. It had been a few days since the battle of the Ambuhdi Sea. We had lost miserably, the Red Surge had much more strength than we expected. Although we had the home field advantage they just had too many people to defend.

They had circled our fortresses, and we took out half their army on the first day. During the night they came back with an army four times the size. And we fought, we definitely put up a good fight. Unfortunately we were starting to weaken, they by that night we had run out of cannon balls and all solid ammunition. By the morning of the third day we only had reserve power left, in our equipment as well as bodies. We couldn't hold up, and everyone fled with the Reds overtaking our base.

That day, the Blue Surge had lost nearly a third of its territory. I thought about the others, I hoped they were alright. I knew that they were all able to take care of themselves, but even so I was unable to stop myself from worrying.

I didn't have a lot of food left with me, or fresh water, we had each taken just what we needed as well as could escape with when we left. I lay down and shut my eyes, rolling over to not sunburn my face, as the boat slowly moved across the ocean. The boat drifted closer to land, and closer to danger.

[Delano] I didn't know what to expect on my first mission, especially after just meeting them. I still expected at some point they would either leave me behind or they would just outright kill me. Their easy acceptance as well as this Narchean's lack of caring we're concerning.

I woke up early in the morning to get prepared, after shaving, a shower, and some hair gel (of course), I went to the dining hall to get breakfast. The food was by no means good quality. There was a strange meat rubbery meat and a sludge like porridge but that was all, luckily there were lots of spices to put on top.

I was halfway through my meal when Jaku sat down to join me. "I know the foods not great, but it grows on you after a while, and we don't really have anything else to eat."

After finishing my bite I responded to him, "When we get back I have some ideas to make the food better if you are interested." I also hoped this would encourage them not to leave or kill me.

"That would be wonderful, I should get eating before it's time to go," he said as he got up and moved I to the food line.

I watched him carefully looking for any signs of danger. While in the line he began talking to a short young man behind him. This man had a very thin body and large arms.

When he came back, bowl of porridge in hand, he brought the man with him. "Dellano I want you to meet Io, he is recovering from some injuries but should be able to join us in missions Eventually."

"Hi," I said sheepishly "how are you?"

He didn't respond but gave a thumbs up.

Soon as the day was starting to pick up, Narchean and Buvin walked in and Jaku went to eat with them. They all came over about a half hour later and asked "are you ready to go?"

We left for the hangar, which shouldn't have been a long walk but do to the strange design of the ship took much longer than one would expect. When we finally got to the hangar we scrambled into our ships and launched, I flew with Jaku since I wasn't a very good pilot, and we only had 3 working ships.

I realized at that point I still had no idea what the mission actually was. After a few minutes of building up the courage I finally asked, "so… um… what exactly is the mission"

Jaku responded "our intel shows that there was a recent skirmish on the Ambuhdi sea, we are trying to scavenge resources and look for survivors."

I told myself that I would write a chapter and I did. It's not as long as I wanted or covering as much, but that's ok.
