Chapter 13 - Past

Our first Lesson is starting, and it's about... reading and writing...

While it is to be expected for a six year old to learn about such things, it's not normal for me. I'm already able to do such things, since not only the Language is the same, but also the writing system. So I practically was able to read and write instantly after I found out.

I look at the Board and see the first few letters that we're supposed to learn. They are way too easy. I quickly fill up the Sheet of Paper with those letters, somehow writing better than in my past life. It seems like my Hand isn't as shaky in this body.

I finished first, the others are still writing. Before I can stand up and give the Sheet of Paper to our Teacher, Victoria stops me and shakes her Head.

She whispers to me. "Stop! You're way too fast. Others will notice."

I am wondering why she tells me that. I'm quite aware of this fact. Actually, I want them to see. But... when I look at Victorias Paper, I see that she is already finished and is just pretending to write. How can she be at least as fast as me? If not even faster?

I decide to listen to her for now, but after the lesson I will ask her a bit more.

A few Minutes later, about 30 to be exact, we all give in our papers.

The Lesson ends and the Teacher walks out of the Room, while we have a short Break.

i decide to ask Victoria a few things. I walk over to her seat, where she's already sitting again.

"Tell me, how did you finish it so fast? And why do you warn me, when I'm well aware that everyone will notice? What's the problem with that?" I ask in a slightly mean tone. I think it hurt her a bit.

She scoffs at me a bit. "Because I want to protect you. You may not know yet, but if you are considered a Prodigy, you will quickly move up the Ranks and go to classes where only adults go. Not only will you be unable to learn things there, since your Body is still small, but you also will be looked down upon by the others. I'm only trying to help."

I nod, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Thank you. And I'm sorry for sounding a bit angry back there. The thing is, I'm a bit narcissistic and I want everyone to look at me and know how great I am, but... after the Things you mentioned, I think I should really be a bit more careful."

But there is still the Feeling inside me, the Feeling that just wants to show everyone. It's not fading away. Rather, I'm suppressing it.

Victoria nods. "And about how I wrote as fast you. I can't tell you everything yet, but... I will tell you this much. I'm smarter than most in this School. I can basically do things on my own already, using Magic too, but I want to keep it a Secret. I want to live a normal School Life. So please, keep it a Secret from the others, ok?" She has a soft tone in her voice and she sounds desperate.

I taker her Hands and nod. "Of course I will, since I'm similar to you. Although I don't think I can use Magic that well yet. I don't even really know how to use it." I smile awkwardly.

She smiles back. "Well we are about to find out in the next Lesson!"

A few Minutes later the next Teacher comes inside. It is a rather young looking woman. She doesn't really look like a Vampire, but I can tell she is. Her Skin is the same as ours, but her Hair is bright blue and her eyes are heterochromia, the left eye being red and the right eye being a bright yellow. Her Hair is long and her clothing is also made up of bright, but cold colors, like blue and green.

When she comes in, she immediately uses Magic to make the Chalkboard vanish, close the curtains and the Door and she projects an Image on the wall.

Her Face has a strict and serious expression.

"Can someone tell me what this is?"

She show us a Picture of a Human using Magic.

Only me and Victoria raise our Hands.

"Yes, you." She picks Victoria.

"I think it's Magic."

She nods. "Correct, but there is more to it. What about you?" She points to me.

"It looks like a Human. But Humans normally can't use Magic. At least not what we imply as Magic."

For a second I thought I saw her face looking proud and happy, but it quickly went back to her strict expression.

"Yes, that is correct. It's one of those foreign beings. Those we thought could never use Magic. In the last 25 years since their first arrival on our proud Continent, we never saw them use Magic, not even once. And now those wretched beings, after seeing how we always plundered their Ships, stole their slaves and even took some of them Hostage, keeping them as Livestock, they suddenly turn up with Magic and almost defeat our Port Guard. Only thanks to the help of true Magic could they be defeated. And I was the one to defeat them."

Everyone applauded, except for me. I didn't, since I knew that Humans could use Magic, even if not in our way. I knew that the Vampire City I grew up in for the first three years, was probably at fault for that. But I didn't warn any of them.

She looks at me. "What about you? You don't seem very happy, is this the reason you already know about those Humans?"

I shake my Head, looking down. "No... there is something I wanted to keep secret, or rather, I didn't want to tell." Everyone is looking at me. Now I need to tell the Truth, I can't lie. I can't. Suddenly a Voice speaks to me. It tells me that I should lie and I should keep them away from the Truth. It's better that way.

But I won't! I quickly shake that feeling away.

"I originally don't come from here. I come from the Continent where Humans are."

Everyone gasps in shock, even Victoria. It is to be expected.

With a shaky Voice I continue.

"At first everything seemed fine, but I didn't even reach three years of Age, when Humans attacked our only City. The only City where Vampires lived. They destroyed it completely. Only me and my Maid survived. We ran away until we came to the Capital City of the Humans. We searched for help and we got help, at least I thought so. But... it was a fluke.

My Maid, who I hold very dear to me, got corrupted by them and I got sold of to some Traders who travelled to this Continent. It was originally our Plan to come here, yes, but not this way. After we arrived, I was utterly broken, until Heira, the Kings Guard, came." Suddenly Victoria stares at me with open Eyes. "She saved me and took me to the King. After a bit of talking, I found out that I am able to become his Heir, so I did. And now I am here."

The Teacher starts crying, her strict Aura completely vanishing. "Sorry, I could've never guessed..."

She shakes her Head and gains back her composure.

"As you just heard from our Princess, we need to be vary of Humans. And that is why we will learn true Magic. Magic that can defeat any Human who uses fake Magic."

The truth is, I already know that there isn't a true Magic, but I just keep my Mouth shut, knowing that it would lead to only more secrets coming out

As our Teacher continued to talk, the Lesson continued normally.
