Chapter 70: Crime Scene Psychics

Ariana POV

Yawning, Ariana blinked, standing outside the silent, dark wine bar. Three a.m. and she was out in a Parisian back street. She must be absolutely crazy.

"You didn't have to come," Dimitri murmured. 

Shivering in the night, Ariana said, "I feel responsible, and I want answers, same as you."

Jean-Jacques Moreau, one of the De Sang royal investigators, performed an elaborate psychic scanning ritual. Dimitri closed his eyes and joined in. So did Elina. Ariana didn't understand what they were doing, or even how she could help.

She studied her surroundings. The street smelled of stale cigarettes, wine, and other city smells. The waiter's car had been removed by the police. The street was empty and silent except for the vampires, Louis, and Ariana. 

Elina, Dimitri, Jean-Jacques, and another vampire investigator named Yvette all concentrated, scanning the crime scene.
