CHAPTER FIVE. GO FOR IT.

ARIZ VAMPIRE KINGDOM.

She was still venting in her room when the door opened and her stepmother walked in. The woman was dressed in a milk coloured flowing gown and a set of beautiful gold jewelry sat on her neck and two gold earrings hooked on both her ears. Her hair was packed beautifully behind her and her beauty radiated the room.

Kylie was lying on her bed but she was not asleep yet and the moment the door cringed, she jumped up and sat upright. She sat on the bed and watched as her stepmother approached her, she was not watching, she was glaring at the woman.

Despite Kylie's glare and the fact that she knew she was unwanted in that room, she did not turn around and leave. She walked to where Kylie was sitting on the bed and sat next to the girl, their eyes were glued to each other and while Kylie glared, the woman was looking at Kylie with so much compassion.

Kylie was too shocked at the woman's bold steps to speak or shout at her. She just sat there glaring at the woman and amazed by how bold she was to walk up to her and sit on her bed with her. The woman broke the eye contact they made and she looked ahead of her. But, Kylie's eyes were still on the woman.

"I was just a young girl when I started having interested in archery. I told my father about it, I told him I wanted to learn archery and later become an archer." She paused.

Kylie's brows tied together when the woman started talking and when she paused, Kylie spoke too.

"Why are you telling me all these?" Kylie's voice wasn't harsh or cold, it was soft and gentle.

"But my father refused, he said I was a woman and the women of Ariz are not men. He told me that the women of Ariz were meant to be married and bear children, raise the children and care for the home. They were not men and neither were they warriors." She paused again. Her voice was beginning to crack from the lump that was hooked in her throat.

" Why are you telling me all these Alicia?" Kylie asked again.

The woman returned her gaze to Kylie.

"Your father told me about your ambition to become ruler. But, he told me you are a woman and can't lead." The woman said again.

"What has my ambition got to do with your crushed dreams of becoming an archer?" Kylie asked again.

"I want to tell you to go for it. Go for it baby girl and don't look back. Don't make the mistake I made years ago, don't give up. You are a woman and that is what makes you stronger than your counterparts." Her stepmother paused again.

Kylie could not believe what she was hearing. Was it the same woman whom they hated each other with everything in them? She blinked furiously at the woman and the look of shock on her face made the woman give a little laugh.

"Why?...Why are you?" Kylie couldn't finish her sentence.

"Advising you?" Kylie nodded quickly and the woman took a deep breath before she continued. "I just don't want you to give up on your dreams because of the disgusting gender discrimination in this kingdom. Kylie, I hope to see you soaring the sky even as a woman someday."

Her stepmother did not give her a chance to talk. Immediately the woman said those words, she stood up and before Kylie would say jack, she was gone, the door shut behind her.

Kylie was left deep in thought. She did not wish her father death but in the case of his death, she was going to fight. She was going to fight opposers and she was going to possess her possession, she was going to be the first female ruler of the vampire kingdom.

She rose from her bed and because she was already dressed, she walked out of her room. She walked through the walls and walkways of the castle and when she was finally out of the castle, she headed straight for General George's house.

The man's house was not far from the castle. He was a general and as demanded, he wasn't supposed to live far from the castle. Two blocks away. Two blocks away was where the man's house was and when she got to the door of the house, she knocked. After a three times of knocking, the door opened and a vampire servant stuck her head out to see who it was. But it was too late, she had concealed herself and walked into the house and stood behind the servant. When the servant didn't see anyone, she closed the door but when she turned around, the sudden presence of the vampire princess scared her and she shrieked loudly in fear.

Kylie smiled, laughed a silent laugh even. She loved to scare people, she derived the pleasure in the fear in their eyes. Immediately the servant saw her, she bowed.

"Great princess." The servant greeted.

"Where is that master of yours? Where is the general?" Kylie asked harshly.

Shaking, the servant answered. "In his study room."

She did not waste more time, she concealed herself again and moved to the man's study. When she got to the man's study, he was indeed there. He was sitting on a chair infront of a table and he had a book infront of him, it appeared he was reading it.

She stood behind him and after turning visible again, she reached out and touched the man's arm and the way he startled in his seat, almost falling made Kylie want to laugh out loud. Who would have thought the general was a scared cat himself. The man composed himself again quickly and while he did that, she walked to stand infront of him.

"Oh princess. What have you come to do here?"

"My father told me about your plans."

"Oh that's wonderful. I didn't expect it to be so quick."

"You will tell him you won't do it."

"What!?"

She bent towards the man that their faces were inches away from touching and when she was sure that the man's eyes were on her, she flashed her fangs at him, an attempt to scare him. And he was, he tried to put up a strong aura but Kylie did not miss the hidden fear in his eyes, how could she? She was the queen of terror.

"You would return to my father and tell him you are no longer interested in making me your concubine." She said.

The man did not speak, he just nodded vigorously at the instructions given to him. When she was sure that her instructions were understood, she withdrew from him and started walking to the door but what the man said made her halt in her tracks.

"But you need an heir to rule this kingdom. No better man to give you a strong heir than me." The general said.

She scoffed. Then she continued to walk to the door and when she got to the door, she held the door knob, turned it and halted. She turned towards the man.

"Strong?" She scoffed again. "I made you almost wet your pants. What makes you strong then?" Kylie asked.

The man did not respond.

"Don't worry about a ruler. I will rule." She said.

She opened the door and after concealing herself, she left.

She got back to the castle and went straight to her room to sleep again but she could not. She was pissed and she needed blood. She left the castle again and found herself walking through the kingdom and she was headed to the human territory portal. She got there and without confirming, she stepped into the portal.

The place was a forest and it was eerie and dark. Kylie looked around and the only sound she could hear was the hooting of owls and the growls of animals. She could only see the bright eyes of owls looking down at her from the trees. She could feel the harsh wind on her skin and though for the first time she was scared, she stayed put.

She tried to summon the portal to take her back to her kingdom but she could not. Not that the portal did not work, she could not just bring herself to go home. It was like there was a force making her stay put and because she was adventurous and she could not go back, she decided to explore. She reminded herself that there was nothing to be scared of, she was the queen of terror.

A step. Then another step. Then another one and soon, she found herself going deeper into this eerie forest.
