Her awakening

20th Century

Its been weeks since the Vampire's witcher announced the dreadful news that has tormented the king Alpha's sleep. Although supernatural creatures don't sleep like humans do, their sleep was more of meditation and relaxation. The Alpha painfully groan silently, as if the man's words wasn't enough, he had to endure the man's presence for the whole week. The king Alpha never missed any of the Queen's healing sessions. He was always there to supervise the witcher's work. He had became very protective of the dead queen and it didn't go unnoticed by the Lord and the witcher. Mira and the Guardian have been busy with the Vampire Queen's kingdom, attending to everyone's needs in the Queen's absence.

The Queen had still not woken up though the witcher had sense the Queen's life essence stronger than ever. The Alpha's constant growling at the witcher for having skin contact with the Dead Queen was beginning to irritate the Lord. The Alpha had no shame showing his jealousy clearly to everyone, the Lord thought to himself. The witcher could feel everyone watching his every move. He was still surprised the king hadn't snapped his neck yet, with his constant growls and he didn't miss the annoyed look the Lord had.

He couldn't understand why the Queen hasn't woken up till now despite all his treatment. He had use both magical and scientific techniques to awaken the woman but nothing. He was beginning to doubt his own skills and judgement. The Guardian had threatened him four times this week that if he fails to awake the Queen, he would go blind by his sword. The Alpha hadn't spared him either. He had told he that if it was false that the Queen wasn't with a child and even hears a spark of rumour that the Queen harbours a seed of an unknown mate, he will rip him to shreds and feed his carcass to his wife and children.

A tube through which blood transfusion was done from the Lord's veins to the Queen's mouth for almost 6 hours in supernatural time which was equivalent to 72hours in human realm. The Lord was beginning to show signs of fatigue due to loss of blood. A dreadful look appeared on Queen Mira face as soon as she came in, it pierced the witcher's heart. The witcher was inwardly saying his last prayers to the creator, for he knew any moment from now he was going to be killed in the most treacherous ways possible as promised by the King Alpha.

"Enough!" The Alpha snapped when the witcher was about to feel the Queen's pulse making him jolt with fear. The witcher's trembling hand fell back down to his side as he stood trembling with fear and grief.

"You've been at this for weeks and nothing has improved she's still in a dead state! Remember my promise, well it's time to fulfil it." The king spoke with venom, each word vibrating through the witcher's veins. He felt fear pump through his beating heart.

"Ple- ase," he stammered backwards, his legs hitting the bed. No one was going to shield him from his impending doom. Each slow calculating steps the Alpha took was nerve racking.

"Wait!" Mira came in between the king and the poor vampire who looked like he would pass out any minute.

The king nose flared with fury and the witcher could have sworn he saw smoke come out of the dreadful King's ears. "Mira, out of my way!" His voice was authoritative and threatening.

"No, I won't! You are not thinking pass your rage. You need to breathe to blow off some steam." Mira spoke softly, tugging on the stubborn King's arm away from the witcher.

He look from Mira to the trembling Vampire who had already wet his leather pants and was drenched in sweat. The king shook his head in denial, "No!"

Mira quickly turned her back to the King when she heard a loud sound reverberate the room. The poor Vampire had passed out on the floor. She was going to need help to get the man up from the floor before the King murders him in his unconscious state. Mira' eyes fell on the empty chair beside the bed, she sighed and slapped her forehead. How could she have forgotten that Samurai had help the exhausted the Lord to his chambers.

She sighed again, "You can't kill him in his sleep." She said to the king when she saw the wicked glint in his eyes.

"He must die!" The king shouted, startling Mira. The flash of his green to red pupils was a sign that Nicolai had given in to his demonic beast.

"He will die when he wakes up, now let me speak to Nicolai." She lied, trying not to anger the beast.

"Guards!" She called out and two guards came rushing in. Both bowed in submission when the saw the fuming beast.

"Quickly take the witcher to the dungeons. I don't want to have his blood on my hands." She ordered.

"Nicolai, you need to calm down," she said to the scowling King when the guards left.

"Think about the Queen, she's more important than any insignificant witcher." At the mention of Queen, the King eyes shot wide open and his pupil went back to normal.

Mira sighed with relief, "you know, you have one stubborn demon." Mira scoffed.

"Sorry, I lost control. He took over without my permission." He said apologetically.

"Why? The witcher is harmless. You need to think clearly during these times." Her voice was hoarse. She had also noticed how possessive the Alpha had become of the dead Queen.

"I've been edgy and restless. I'm just afraid that she might never wake up. What if her soul doesn't want to come back to us, what then?" He asked with bitterness, his heart tightens when he thinks about not seeing those red eyes of his Queen again.

Mira grabbed the Kings hands, "look at me," she demanded. " I promise on my soul that I would do whatever it takes to make her come back even if I would have to sacrifice my blood to the Demon God." She said with determination.

At the mention of Demon God, Nicolai become tense and snatched his hands back. "Do not speak of his name in my presence again Mira. It's a request."

"I apologise, It slipped. I know you don't like to hear ab.."

"Enough! Mira." He snapped cutting her off.

"Sorry," she mumbled, regret flashing through her eyes.

It's been long since someone touched on that subject, only ancient creatures know of the story, recent generations believe it's just rumours since the King Alpha is said to have same features of the Demon God. There were six realms; the creator's realm, the Angels realm, the Demon realm, the realm of dead souls, the supernatural realm and the human realm. Even though it was in a chronological order, no one had been to the creator's realm, the Angel's realm or the Demon realm.

Although it was believed that all dead souls of all living creatures both human and supernatural ended up in the realm of dead soul no one has been able to confirm if it really does exist. But denying it was like denying the creator's realm, what the human calls heaven.

Ancient decades ago even before the first council was established which was made up of only fours council heads, it was believed that the Demon God was once an Angelis who tainted the sacred oat of holiness by bedding a hybrid, a magical demon.

As punishment he was banished to the Demon realm and his beloved hybrid died during child birth. He was made the God of the Demons because of his superiority of once being the most favourite Angelis. Out of rage, the Demon God sent his son away to the supernatural realm, blaming his seed for being the cause of his chosen beloved's death.

Growing up, Nicolai never once questioned his existence. He grew up thinking he was a witch until his natural form grew and he realized the rumours were true. He never saw the Demon God and never wanted to. He hates him as much as he also hates him. He had always been in constant denial until the old hag Oracle had told him, he was indeed the son of the Demon God. And that the reason why he was immune to witches charm because his mother was a half witch and why he has a strength of an Angelis was because his father was once one.

During the order of the first council, Demons could travel to the supernatural and the human realm and they bedded the witches and the humans without their consent. Bringing forth abominations. Hence, the creation of the lycans and the werewolves species in the supernatural realm and incubus and succubus in the human realm known as demi-demons.

Lycans have full Demonic features and power whiles werewolves had full witches power even though both have the same demonic appearance expect with the wings but Nicolai had the Demon's wings and that makes him stand out among his kind. He was the biggest and the strongest there is among his kind. There was a reason the first council made him the king Alpha and a council member. The lycans and the wolves needed a protector and Nicolai was fit for that position.

'Why did Mira mention that name!' He cursed under his breath.

Samurai came in and he felt the air tense. He saw the king's stiff shoulders and Mira's guilty face. 'What the hell had happened in his absence.' Samurai asked himself.

"What happened?" Samurai questioned, looking from the angry king to a remorseful Mira.

Mira heavily sighed, "I'm going to try to get in touch with the Oracle." She said quickly and left.

"Well?" Samurai turned to the King.

"I don't want to talk about it!" He grunt.

"Fine! Any improvement?" Samurai gestured towards the Queen's bed. "Where is the witcher?" He asked, his eyes searching the room.

"Mira had him locked up in the dungeon before my beast kills him." He replied.

"Everyone sees how protective and possessive you've been towards the Queen during the past weeks. Its not good king. People could talk and we can't afford that now that she's not awake." Samurai cautioned.

"I know, I lost control over my Demon but it won't happen again." The king Alpha retorted.

"We haven't spoken much since that day," The guardian paused. That day had haunted him also, "you have been busy taking care of her and I with her region. Have you figured out what you are going to do if it's TRUE?" He asked with concern with much emphasis on 'True'.

"No! I'm still in denial" The king said stubbornly shaking his head.

"It's like history is repeating itself. What happened to you is happening again." Samurai seriousness grew.

A wave of confusion hitting the King, "what do you mean?"

"What I'm trying to say is, the child might be like you. It might be the most powerful supernatural force to be reckoned with." He clarified.

"My destiny is different!" The king spat annoyed at the comparison besides they weren't still certain if there was truth to the witcher's words.

Samurai quirked an eyebrow. "Is it?" He paused waiting for a reply before continuing. "He is afraid of you not because he blames you for her death. Now don't tell me you believe that pathetic story." He chuckled.

"You never really unlocked all your powers Nicolai. Your demonic and magical powers lies dormant. You are yet to unlock and reach your full potential. I believe he was afraid he created an abomination that could possibly be his end." He added.

"No that can't be true!" The king denied.

"Yes it is!" The guardian retorted.

"The creator allowed you to live for a reason. Mira's parents adopted you for a reason. For years the Demons have dominated the two realms and nothing has been done about it. My father told me how Demons have invaded the human realm in the past. Possessing their bodies without their will." He added vehemently.

"Even our kind got tricked. They charmed the witches into bedding them or have you forgotten how your kind came into existence!" Samurai reminded the King of a past he desperately wants to forget.

"No I haven't! You damn well remind me of that each and everyday of my existence that I am an abominable curse!" The king Alpha yelled bitterly.

"No! You are wrong." He denied the accusation.

"You do not know, that the witches hate my kind but most especially me. Because they believe it was their punishment for the council to accept me as one of them and that was why their will was taken away by the Demons." Nicolai said to the guardian.

"I'm cursed, you know it and they all know it!" The King stated firmly.

"No, I do not see you as a curse to our kind but as a gift. You are a gift Nicolai and you need to embrace yourself before anyone can." Samurai lean in, grabbing the King by both arms.

He was silent but Samurai have a lot to say. "She loves you but you need to love yourself first. You know our war has always been with the demons and not those damn hunters and the hellcast. You must defeat him, his blind by rage." He said bitterly.

"No! That's nonsense and utterly impossible. Be careful of what your tongue speaks. We can't afford to anger the creator." The king warned his friend.

"Since when did you care about the creator? You detest the creator because you believe he abandon you just like he did." He stated the painful truth. When Samurai said he, the king knew perfectly he was referring to the Demon God.

"Accept your destiny Samurai. You've known it. We are not only protestors of our kind but also the humans. The Demons have taken so much from them and us. They can't attack us now that our veil has been restored but the humans need protection from the hunters and demons." The guardian insisted.

"What do you mean by the hunters?" The King raised his brow.

"Reports came in the the hunters are experimenting magic on human and demi-demons." Samurai stated.

"But that damn near impossible!" The King spat.

"As council heads we've been trained to believe everything is damn possible." Samurai reminded the king.

The king knew that Samurai was right but he won't and could not do it, "that is not my destiny. I don't care about the humans, hunters nor do I care about those damn demons. They can all rot in the realm of dead souls." He shouted throwing his hands up.

"We need to curb the demons from further infestation perma..."

A gruff sound was heard from behind, making both men rush to the Queen's bed. They both saw her arms and legs move. A genuine smile crept onto their faces.

"Lilian!" The king mumbled, kneeling beside her bed as he took her hand into his. Her eyes flutter slowing revealing those red emerald eyes he had missed so much. He could stair and get lost in them without a care in the world.

"I've missed you." He kissed her knuckles.

"My Queen," The guardian acknowledged from behind, when her eyes fully opened.

"You are awake!" The king said, still finding it hard to believe, he thought she would never come back to them not after what they had done.

"I wish I hadn't!" Her voice was frail but held resentment.

"Why?" Nicolai's voice cracked with fear.

"YOU ALL BETRAYED ME BUT MOSTLY YOU!" The last part was meant for the King because her eyes were now focused on him.

She snatched her hand back, "I have no face to see you. Both of you leave!" Lilian demanded, anger lurking behind her eyes.
