Vampire Diaries 4: World of Mortals

~ Third Person's Point of View ~

There was a palace built in the middle of the hidden forest. It was wrapped by the roots of the big, horrifying trees that surround the peaceful place.

The sun was bright, luminous and warm. Its light was spreading through the land of vampires who have lived for almost a hundred years.

They lurked during daylight hours and sauntered around the Vampire's Kingdom at twilight.

"Jack! Jack!"

One of the vampires called out the Vampire King's name.

He was holding a glass of blood while thinking about something.

Without wasting his time for looking at the man, he replied. "It's been two years since a crying lady summoned me," He said, looking at somewhere distant.

"Move on, Jack! It's been a while since you loiter around to date a sexy woman!" The man said, giving him a meaningful answer.

Instead of feeling insulted, he stood up and put aside the glass filled with human blood.

It was rubicund and taste like an apple juice. It was slimy but, they need blood to stay alive and powerful.

"She's different! That woman was different from the women vampires whom I've met, a hundred years ago!"

His voice raised up as he wasn't the Jack who talks like a sweet, calm man.

He took a deep breath and said, "Valmer,"

"Hmmm?"

"Can you still remember what grandmother has told us before she died?"

Jack stooped closer to Valmer who was wearing his favourite pullover. He must be into something that he should know about.

Valmer replied, "Yes! About the strange dimension of humans?"

"Yes! That's it!"

"Why did you asked me about it? Do you want to visit the chaos world of humans?"

Valmer was Jack's brother. They have synonymous interests when it comes to foods and types of blood I drink with. However, the only thing that they usually fight about– is a woman.

Valmer had five women every night but, he has nothing to sleep with.

"I want to see it with my naked eyes, Valmer! Grandmother told me before that the World of Humans was one of the warmest worlds she has seen! Blood is everywhere! Women are easy to find! And most especially, humans are mortal!"

However, it was not the real reason behind of the interests he has said.

Valmer knew about it.

He's been observing his brother since he transmigrated to the other world, two years ago.

"Are you crazy, Jack?"

"Wh–what? Wh–why?" Jack asked him seriously.

Valmer was shorter than Jack. His hair was swirly as it matches his dark, emerald eyes.

He replied, "Father told us not to listen to the lies that grandma keeps on telling us! We do not belong to their world, Jack! We have our own kingdom, homeland and power! You must not aim for a more, little brother!"

"But–"

"Listen to me, or I will talk to father that you are planning to see that crying lady who has summoned you!"

Valmer warned him.

Yet, he was telling the truth. The truth that he wanted to find the woman whom he met in the middle of the jungle.

Jack said, "Damn it! I am grown up now, Valmer! I can protect myself from anyone! I can visit a far, far world without anyone's help!"

"Valmer? Valmer?"

Both of them turned their gaze and looked into the door, panting and gasping.

"I'll be there! Just give me a second!" He hissed, staring at his hard-headed brother.

The man walked away from their room. It was Valmer's friend who would always invite him to play Mahjong at the underground of the palace.

"Do not tempt to infringe the rules, Jack! If you don't want to lose everything you have right now!"

With authority, Valmer walked away and slammed the door.

He can't easily sneak out from the palace if Valmer is around. He was such a spoiled elder brother who will do everything to prevent him from going to the other dimension.

Jack blurted, "Damn! I need to do something!"

He walked back and forth until he forgot to drink human blood. As he was craving for something he can't tell exactly.

To draw away his attention, Jack went off from his room. Carrying an old key he kept on his drawer for five years.

As he walked into the hallway, maidservants were sauntering while carrying out the glasses of blood for all the vampires.

The guards can choose between a glass of human blood and or an animal blood. But, most of them rather picked the human blood as it tastes sweeter than anything else.

Jack and all the vampires must stay inside for them to survive. The light coming from the sun was one of a vampire's weaknesses.

It was one of the rules they have to obey through their last breath.

As he was closer to the hidden library of his late grandmother, a woman abruptly appeared from nowhere. "Jack?" She called him out.

He wanted to pass by and ignore her but the force was too persistent. She said, "Come on, Jack! Talk to me, before I'll change my mind."

"Emilia! Oh, it's been a while since we've met!" He exclaimed.

Emilia was Jack's childhood friend who became his first love. She was beautiful compared to the other girls in the palace. She was tall and her long, blonde hair made her more enthralling and captivating.

Her round, blue eyes were perfectly suited to her beauty. Her voice was sweet, the same as with her thing lips.

Emilia looked down as she accidentally saw the key on his hand. She gave him an abrupt smile and whispered, "I know where are you going! Come on, let us take the secret chamber, Jack."

"No! You don't have to accompany me, Emi–"

Jack halted and sealed his mouth when she put her cold finger on his lips. "Shut your mouth up! The guards might hear us!"

He couldn't argue with her. She was stubborn like Valmer and the only thing that can make them quiet is to obey and follow their orders.

"I know you are curious about the History of Humans. That is why you are sneaking to your grandmother's library."

"How did you know about it, Emilia?"

As she walked ahead of him silently, Emilia halted from taking another step and looked back at him.

She smiled genuinely and said, "Let us go to the World of Mortals, Jack!"

Emilia was still smiling widely while he was left dumbfounded and flabbergasted.
