Panic set in before I was fully awake. I scrambled to flee, struggling to the edge of the massive king-size bed.
"Where are you going!?" he exclaimed, catching me by the ankle.
"Away from you!" I cried, rolling to try and flip off of the bed.
Just as I was about to make it, I caught a lever on the nightstand and was rolled right back onto it as the whole thing started to spin in circles and vibrate.
"What is this?!" I exclaimed, stumbling.
"Get back here!" shouted Rilian.
He pulled me back down and grabbed me by the wrists, pinning them to the mattress above my head, and for several moments the two of us just stared at each other in silence, spinning awkwardly until Rilian finally managed to kick the lever back into place.
"Give it up, Aspen," said Rilian, "I told you before you can't run from me anymore."
"Managed it pretty well the last couple of days," I retorted, still struggling.
