Aurik, a young man in his twenties, sees the world for what it is but can do nothing but suffer through life as he tries to live to see tomorrow. He is certainly dissatisfied with the way things are, both for himself and his country, but he gave up on trying to change things a long time ago. A lone man with no money, no fame, no name and no power cannot change the world. But what if he had power? One night, through a twist of fate, Aurik's life changes for the better when he meets a stranger and accidentally becomes a vampire. With the power of a vampire, couldn't he find a way to make a change? No, even then it would be impossible. But what about an entire society filled with vampires? Yes, that should do it. And so, Aurik decided that his goal in this new life would be one thing and one thing alone. Become the king of vampires and use their power to conquer his country and change things so that he wouldn't feel disgusted every time a politician spoke or a citizen believed them.

Eavesdropping

Three hours have passed since Aurik began working at the bar and he managed to learn some interesting things during that time. Firstly, many of the non-Vampire customers appear to show animalistic traits at times, such as sharpened and elongated teeth and nails or even pupils shaped differently from a human's.

Another thing he realized was that none of the alcohol being served in this bar was in any way legal. Everything was far stronger than the legal limit for hard liquor yet these people were drinking it like it was regular beer.

When Aurik asked Jake about this he received this reply.

"Of course it's stronger, do you think a Vampire or Therian could get drunk off regular alcohol? Our bodies are much stronger than a human's and because we heal so quick the effects wear off too quickly for the regular stuff to affect us for more than a few minutes, no matter how much we drink."

Aurik had to admit that it made sense, after all, what's the point of a bar if you can't get drunk? He came to realize how amazing a Vampire's healing ability was a few days ago when in just 2 or 3 hours the deep cut on his hand had completely healed, so how amazing would the healing be of someone stronger than himself?

"Aurik!" Jake called from behind the bar as he waved Aurik over. He waited until the young Vampire approached before speaking. "I need you to take this upstairs to room four."

Jake placed a silver tray on the counter then took out 3 glasses and a bottle of alcohol and placed them on the tray. Aurik would have just taken it without a word if he hadn't noticed something strange about the alcohol he was just given.

"I thought we didn't have any regular alcohol? This is just normal Whiskey..."

"Yeah the customers who ordered it are Mages. They can use magic and know about us and the Therians but those guys are still human in the end so they can't drink the strong stuff. Just go before they complain about us taking too long!" Jake shooed Aurik away and returned to his work.

Aurik didn't stick around either and took the tray into his hands before making his way upstairs. The entire second floor of the bar was a VIP area that only those who paid large amounts of money were allowed to use.

There were several rooms in the VIP area and each of them was completely soundproof and could only be opened with a specific code that was unique to each room. To ensure the privacy of those within, the code to the doors are changed every day and are given to the customers when they rent the room.

Aurik quickly arrived in front of room number 4 and was about to enter the code to open the door when he heard something coming from within.

'Did the door not close properly?' Aurik thought while looking at the door. It seemed to be closed but for some reason the sound was still leaking out, even if it was extremely soft. 'They probably didn't notice because they don't have hearing as good as me... they are human, after all.'

Aurik was about to enter his code and enter the room but his curiosity got the better of him. He didn't know much about Mages and what better way was there to learn than to listen in on their conversation?

"What do you mean they don't want to go through with it?! They already agreed!"

"They're saying they don't have enough people."

"That's clearly a lie! They just don't have the strength to pull it off!"

"Hold on you two, it's not like we can blame them. Attacking a blood storage is no joke, you know how the Vamps will react."

"So what!? It's about time those fucking monsters got what they deserved, I'm sick of sharing a world with them!"

-Sigh- "Yeah yeah, we all feel the same, just calm down, I'm sure we can convince them to go through with it. They were supposed to attack right as the sun comes up so it's a little late to pull out now."

"Exactly, we'll just have to make sure they understand that this will disrupt the entire plan."

"Alright, I'll go speak to them later and-"

The voice was interrupted by the sound of a latch turning, the sound was just loud enough to alert those inside the room that the door was being opened. The three voices died down and the room fell silent for several seconds before the door was opened.

"Sorry to disturb, Gentlemen, I have your drinks." Aurik walked into the room and placed the glasses and Whiskey on the table between the men.

Each of these men appeared to be around the age of 40 and wore high quality suits. They were all adorned with expensive looking jewellery and sitting on the table between them were three ornate daggers.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?" Aurik asked as he stepped back towards the door.

"No..." One of the men replied coldly. All three of them were looking at Aurik with poorly disguised anger and it was easy for him to notice this.

Aurik made sure to keep his expression neutral and nodded to the men before leaving the room and closing the door behind him. The second he was safe Aurik let out a heavy sigh as his chest tightened with anxiety.

'They're going to attack the blood storage? I haven't heard of that before but it's not difficult to imagine what it is. A place that important would have really good security, right? It stores all our food after all...' Aurik tapped his thumb and middle finger together as he tried to decide what to do.

'There's no need to hesitate, I need to report this. I'll let Jake know and head right back to the estate, from what I was told there should be someone there who's able to get this information to the right people.' Aurik took off with quickened steps and hurriedly spoke with Jake before leaving the bar.

'If they manage to stop this because of my information then I'll be able to make a name for myself quicker than expected. It won't be much but I only need to build my achievements up over time, that way I can climb to the higher levels of social power quicker and enact my plan!'
