Chapter. 9

"Young Master, are you alright?" in seconds Hogan was beside Axell.

"I am alright. I'll take care of myself." Axell replied stuttering as he grabbed the napkin in Hogan's hand.

Axell deftly cleaned the thick red liquid from his hands and the floor below. Luckily, the contents of the drink box were few. It didn't take long for the mess to be sorted out.

"You really can give other people a heart attack." While laughing Axell said towards Bilbina who was still glued to her seat with a pale face.

On the surface, Axell looked normal. But, Bilbina could not be fooled. She could feel Axell's shock was so real.

It all happened so fast. But, for a moment Bilbina had seen a change in Axell's face that she would never forget. In such a short time, Bilbina could clearly see the pain that crossed the young man's face and Axell's body shook violently like a had been hit hard by an invisible hand. For a moment, Axell's eyes darkened before he regained his composure.

Bilbina was still not sure why she could see all of that at the same time. This is very strange because she can see all the changes in Axell's face in detail and what's even weirder, she can even see the reaction of her grandfather who looks so worried, even though they all know, there was no dangerous object or dangerous incident a moment ago, other than very shock.

There's something going on. Bilbina sure of this. Not only Axell, her grandfather looked no less surprised.

"Hey, what are you doing?!" Axell snapped his fingers in front of Bilbina's face to wake the girl up.

"Eh, sorry, I was just a little surprised. I thought you were hurt," Bilbina stammered.

Bilbina didn't lie, she was really shocked. Why did her words, which were ordinary jokes, turn into moments that made everyone awkward? Has she missed anything? She tried to remember which of her words had sparked such a great reaction from Axell and Hogan?

"Oh, yes, grandfather's friend is coming soon, he is willing to give you a ride to Sawtooth Valley. You said you want to look around the campus area, get ready now, he's almost there." Hogan was suddenly at Bilbina's side. He half dragged his granddaughter to get up immediately.

"Now?" Bilbina wasn't sure if she wanted to go now. Bilbina was still waiting for what Axell would say. On the other side, she also doesn't want to waste the opportunity to explore the area around campus before the semester starts. But, for some reason she felt as if her grandfather was deliberately kicking her out home now.

"If you don't want to go, it's okay, Grandpa will tell Grandpa's friends to turn him back," said Hogan when he saw the hesitation on Bilbina's face.

"Nooo! Let Bilbina go with grandfather's friends now." Bilbina rushed to prevent her grandfather from contacting his friend via cellphone.

When Bilbina glanced at Axell who failed to hide a smile, the girl realized that she had fallen into her grandfather's trap.

Bilbina forgot that her father used to tell stories, her grandfather really liked to apply research psychology, called reverse psychology, so that other people would do what he wanted without that person realizing.

With an exasperated sigh, Bilbina turned to look at her grandfather who immediately gave an innocent smile.

Finally, with a stomp, Bilbina went up to get ready. It seemed too coincidental that her grandfather's friend had gone to Sawtooth Valley at this time, at a time when something very strange was going on in the house. Bilbina felt that Hogan was deliberately kicking her out now.

Bilbina finished preparing and was opening the door to her room when at the same time the door to the room opposite her room also opened. Axell was standing in the doorway.

"Don't go too far and don't talk to strangers! Remember this is not your safe country. Put some money in your pocket just in case, don't put them together." Without being asked, Axell said at length.

Bilbina was sure, that was the longest sentence Axell had ever said to her. However, at the same time Bilbina also felt like she was being given advice like a school girl going on a picnic for the first time.

With amazement, Bilbina looked at the man who had hair as black as charcoal. Apparently, Axell was secretly worried about his safety to give him that much lecture.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine, thanks." Bilbina said with a big smile. For a moment, she even forgot her annoyance towards Axell and her grandfather.

"I'm not worried about you, Bin, I just don't have the energy to looking for you if you get lost because I won't let your grandfather disappear too when he looking for you." Axell said casually, making Bilbina frown immediately.

Axell secretly laughed in his heart. Teasing Bilbina seems to have become a new hobby for him. The girl is very emotional and easily provoked. Maybe because she was an only child who was always protected by her family until she was close to twenty, she still looked like an innocent child.

Not long after, Bilbina immediately departed, after her grandfather made small talk with Mr. Harry who seemed almost the same age as Bilbina's father.

As soon as the car carrying Bilbina disappeared at the end of the road, Axell immediately turned towards where Hogan was also waiting for him. The two of them looked at each other silently for a moment.

"I remember everything now." Axell immediately said in a flat tone. Silently, Hogan patted Axell's hand gently. The young man looked up. "Thanks for taking care of me all this time, Hogan. It's certainly not an easy thing for you to be separated from your family for the rest of your life."

"No, Young Master. If Young Master had not helped me that time, I would have died on the streets by now decades ago." Hogan answered firmly. He never regretted spending his life beside Axell. The evidence that Axell didn't kill him and instead helped, shows that Axell is a good person, no matter he is vampire or human.

Hogan still remembers it clearly. When he was eleven, Hogan nearly died on the streets. He who never knew who his parents were, was able to survive by becoming an accomplice to drug dealers. Until one day Hogan was caught and tortured to death by members of a rival gang.

Hogan was lucky, that's when Axell found him and killed all the gang members who tortured. Hogan's life was saved and after going through a critical period, Axell brought Hogan to his house. It was there that Hogan met Mr. David who was Axell's assistant.

Since then, Hogan grew up with Axell. He had been a lil brother, a big brother, and now, a parent for Axell, because since they first met until now, Axell still looks like a teenager. However, from then on, to Hogan, Axell would always be his young master who had given him another chance at life.

Axell had sent him to the best colleges. Meanwhile, Mr. David provides him with everything he needs to know about Axell and all his secrets as a vampire. Yes, Hogan knowing that Axell is vampire. Since then, Hogan has been determined to give his whole life to Axell.

Hogan was lucky enough. Axell let him have his own family who loved him. Even though they couldn't be near him, he could meet them whenever he wanted. Especially now that Bilbina lives with him.

"Hogan, I also remember, I killed my own parents." Axell's voice filled with agony sounded as if it came from a dark and deep place, waking Hogan from his thoughts.
