Surprise attack

Kalix Noah's POV

She's lighter than I expected. I wonder how she looks on the battlefield, especially given her weight and true body.

She's far different from the general we met the other day. As I walk down the hallway, heading back to the venue hall, I notice that she's panicking.

It looks like she's not used to this kind of treatment. I stopped when we were just a few meters from the door.

"I never thought my mother and father would throw such a lavish wedding ceremony for us. I thought it would only be a lame one. Are you satisfied? They said wedding days for ladies are a big deal," I ask.

She looks at me, and our eyes meet. "I don't even care if we get married in the middle of grasslands. But what they do for you is proof that they love you. I saw that in their eyes. Your Majesty, don't fail your parents. They saw your potential," she murmurs.

She looked serious when he said those words. For some reason, I believe in her. I keep thinking that mom and dad were doing things for me for the sake of their name and dignity.

I knew I was unwanted, but if my parents don't see me that way, that's enough for me.

"Are you mad, your majesty? I'm sorry for giving my opinion. I didn't mean to stick my nose where it didn't belong! I apologize for my rudeness, Prince Kalix!" she exclaimed, nervous and panicking. That made me laugh.

This woman—I never thought she could make me laugh easier than I expected. "Open the door," I simply command.

She nods, and when we get inside the venue hall, everyone is looking at us. My wife taps my shoulder. I know she wants me to put her down.

I did, and she regained her composure right away. She looks around and bows her head, trying to smile sweetly. I place my hand on her head. She turns around to face me.

"Take it easy. Choose to be yourself, grand duchess. Be true to yourself," I murmur.

Kassandra looks surprised because of what I said. She smiled and nodded. She grabs my wrist and drags me with her as she runs towards her soldiers.

She suddenly stops, and her expression changes. It was dark, predatory, and angry. I looked at where her eyes were. My eyes dilated.

I was about to speak when she pushed me to where her soldiers were. I saw that woman smirking and was about to stab my mother when Kassandra embraced her and turned around.

"General!" her soldiers roar.

They suddenly surrounded me, and others distributed themselves. They protect the guests and the royal family.

"Astrid!" she roars. She pushes my mother, and the vice general catches her.

They surrounded my mother like they did to my father and my siblings. My eyes dilated when I saw the wound in her abdomen.

She was stabbed, and her wedding dresses were stained with blood. "General!" a man roars.

He threw a sword. My wife turns around and catches it. That woman attacks her while she turns her back on her.

Kassandra places her sword behind her and stops her enemy's sword from cutting her back. "This is for our kingdom!"

She turned around and gave that woman a round kick. Her heels were thrown away, like what her enemy experienced.

Her expression was too scary for me and everyone else, too. She's different from her cheerful side.

"Who the hell are you, huh?! Who gives you the right to hurt my mother-in-law?" she roars thunderously. She can still move freely, as if her stab wound were nothing but a slap in the face.

"You! I will avenge my brother's death! Your soldiers killed him! This country has killed our people!" the woman screams.

She dashes towards my wife and points her sword. I pushed one of her soldiers, but they stopped me.

"Let her fight. She can take care of herself. The wound she receives is nothing. Plus, we are given an absolute command and one of our laws," he stated.

This man… he is the father of my wife's vice general. "That is to protect you and the whole royal family over her life," he mumbled in the last sentence.

I was too stunned when I heard what he just said. I look at my wife. She just grabs the blade of her enemy's sword. I saw how her blood dropped on the floor.

"You killed my brother! You killed him!" that woman says.

"If your brother was Ace, then blame him. He killed innocent people and raped women and even kids. He deserves his death," she says.

Kassandra's hand slips on the sword as she gets closer to that lady. She punched her stomach and knocked her out.

Arida ran to her and tied the woman using my wife's veil. I pushed her soldiers and went to her. We heard the sound of the sword falling to the ground.

I held her waist from behind and saw the wound in her hand. I looked down and saw the blood behind her. The sword stabs her deeply.

"Where's the royal physician?" Father roars. Arida looks around.

"Axel!" she roars.

We heard a noise from the guest area. A man comes out holding a bag with him. "Your Majesty, can we have the nearest room? I have to treat the general's wound," he says.

A man?! "You can use the room next to this hall," I stated. He was about to carry my wife, but I gave him meaningful glances. He seems to notice it.

I carried her myself. "Mom and dad, I'll leave the things here with you. I have to look after my wife," I stated.

I pass through them. Arida and Axel followed me. My wife closed her eyes, trying to control her groan. Her wound... It must be painful.

"Wait, your majesty, our queen. Ask her if the sword didn't get through her."

"No! Don't worry about me! Worry about yourself, my daughter-in-law!" Mom roars. "You heard her," I murmur.

I walked as fast as I could. As soon as we reached the door, I kicked it open. I lay her down on the bed.

"Excuse me, your majesty. I'll take care of everything from here. Step aside in the meantime," he says. I did what he says but I seated on the other side. I grab his wrist when he touches her.

"Your majesty, I have to do this. I'll just cut the fabric. I won't undress our general," Axel says. I let go of his wrist.

"General, face sideward. The sword pierced through your body," he says. I scoop her up so that she will face me.

For all the readers who give my book the chance. Thank you so much! I hope y'all continue to read. After my school affairs, I might be uploading more chapters soon. Have a nice day ahead!
