CH 26 ~ Suspicion

A few moments later~

"Sir, This is all of them; None of them are local..."

Neil spoke after they killed all their enemy and collected their death bodies to identify them.

Their helicopter also came with reinforcement in the meantime, and Alex carried the unconscious Rennie to the helicopter before he joined Neil to check on the dead bodies.

'Local gangs or killers will never dare to target my car... Let alone her; who sent them then?'

Alex wondered as no matter what, he couldn't reach a conclusion regarding this sudden attack.

"!!!"

"What the-"

All of them became shocked as soon as Neil lifted up the last person's mask, specially Alex.

"DEAN?!"

Seeing that person's face, Alex was more convinced with the fact that the target was not him, but Rennie.

Dean was one of the top ten professional killers in the underground organisations, who never failed any mission.

Not many people knew him but as a captain of undercover army defence, Alex knew almost all the professional killers.

Unfortunately, his target was not any less but better then him; which made him not only fail his mission but also lose his life.

'Why would they sent Dean to kill her? Who can hate her so much to want her dead?'

'Is this why she hides her identity and always keep a huge team of bodyguards around her?'

'What big secrets are you hiding from me, Ren?'

But they became even more shocked when Dean suddenly opened his eyes and aimed at the helicopter, where Rennie was.

"DIE! RENNIE MILLICENT!!"

BANG!

BANG!

Two gunshots were heard at the same time and Alex, who just jumped aside to block the bullet for Rennie became dumbfounded.

He hissed a little as the bullet shot by Dean injured his upper arm, Where another bullet headshot Dean to death.

As he prioritised her safety first to block the bullet, his shot couldn't aim at Dean properly.

But the dead person infront of him was clearly dead by headshot.

"SIR!!! ARE YOU OKAY?!"

"LUCKILY YOU MANAGED TO KILL HIM IN TIME..."

"YEAH, MADAME IS SAVED BECAUSE OF SIRE..."

Neil rushed to Alex, who was lost in thought and his teammates whispered among themselves.

But Alex knows it wasn't him, who had killed Dean.

'The bullet was shot from behind... From the helicopter;'

And there's only one person in the helicopter, his wife; who is still unconscious.

'No... How can she shot? She is still unconscious,'

'I have been with her for a whole year... Her body is so delicate, there is no way she-'

Alex tried his best to ignore the suspicions in his heart regarding Rennie, but his mind kept pointing out errors to him.

'But she is stronger then normal woman's... She may look slim but her muscles are tight, like trained persons.'

'She can drive cars like this... Shot people to death, Why do i feel like whatever i know about her is not everything?'

Alex seemed to forget the pain in his hand, as he approched the helicopter with an absent mind.

"SIR, YOUR WOUND-"

"I will treat it at home, clear up the mess here. Not a word about her should get out."

Neil looked at Alex with concern before he lead their man's to clear the scene and Alex sat beside Rennie; Whose eyes was still closed.

But he knew she was awake because of the slight trembling of her eyelashes, as he took her in his arms.

He tighten his grip over her body as he hugged her tightly in his embrace, deciding to not expose her lie.

Alex kissed on her forehead and sighed, as he felt the gun in her back pocket poking on him because of hugging her tightly.

'...It was really you, Ren!'

'I don't care what you are hiding or how many lies you are telling me... As long as you don't leave me.'

'I have become so used to having you beside me that, now i can't live without you in my life anymore.'

'So, just stay with me... And i will finish every person who dares to target my woman!'

In Alex's Villa~

"How's your arm?"

Rennie asked awkwardly as none of them questioned the other one, regarding the incident of the evening.

Both of them felt afraid to hear a truth which might be hard to accepted, give each other personal space and time to share the truth by themselves.

"It's fine now... Are you still feeling dizzy?"

"No, it's only a minor injury... Thanks for saving me,"

Rennie, who was laying on the bed in their bedroom again thanked Alex hesitantly.

Where Alex, who was laying with his back facing her clenched his fist into a ball.

"This is what i am supposed to do as your 'husband' and it's my duty to protect you, Ren."

"Still, it's unnecessary-"

"REN..."

Alex's called her nickname in a deep cold voice with a warning tone.

"Am in no mood to argue with you right now, so just sleep...unless you wanna explain something to me."

"Huh! If that's the case then, we might as well talk about why president Crawford carries snipers in his cars!"

Rennie spoke angrily before she pulled the blanket towards her and moved at the edge of the bed.

"..."

Alex became speechless as he watched her tucking herself in the huge blanket, leaving him with nothing.

But then a low chuckle left his mouth as he turned to her side carefully, so that the wound in his hand doesn't reopen.

'Finally, She behaved a little like before... It's better to see her angry at me then seeing her treating me coldly...'

Alex put his forehead on her back and Rennie stiffened a little because of his sudden movement.

But as a few minutes passed and he didn't touched her like she wanted before, made her relax.

It was killing her heart to control the urge to be in touch with him, but Rennie knew she has to control it.

She doesn't want to prove again that she is still humiliatingly unable to resist his touch.

As her breathing sound stabilised and she fall asleep, Alex sighed in relief.

For a moment, he was afraid that she might push him away but she didn't.

'Maybe because i helped her today... That's why she didn't pushed me away,'

Alex seem to gain a little confidence because of this that, his wife, who once loved him dearly might love him again one day.

'I don't mind getting a few more shot if that can make you forgive me, or give me another chance.'

'I will try my best to make you fall for me again, just don't push me away... Give me some time and i will clear up everything;'
