After three years of marriage, Wendy Stewart was used to Michael Lucas's sarcastic remarks, his frequent threats about getting divorced, and even his indulgence of a mistress. She thought that she could bear with this her entire life, until she accidentally got pregnant with a child that Michael did not want. Finally despondent, Wendy signed the divorce agreement and left. She thought they could have parted ways forever, but Michael refused to stop looking for her after the divorce. When they met again, she was the world's top designer. Wendy returned home bone-weary.
Leah and Jake were overjoyed to see her and ran to welcome her home. However, Wendy was too tired to entertain them.
Holding Leah's hand, Michael said, "Mummy is very tired today, let's not disturb her okay? Let Mummy rest for a bit."
Leah nodded immediately and did not bother Wendy anymore.
Other than being tired, Wendy was also starving. It was already late at night and she had yet to have dinner. It wouldn't be so bad to go hungry if it were just her, but she had a baby to think of now.
Michael quickly made her a sandwich but saw that she was not resting when he brought it in for her.
She was staring at an image on her cell phone. It was a picture of her and Zen, taken when they were in university.
Back then their smiles were so unadulterated.
She remembered how spirited Zen used to be.
