Tale 39: The bat

One morning I wake up to a big black bat flapping its wings above me. It had long teeth, muzzle, perfect features. Its fur glowed... it was scary!

A white light appears in his chest...

It flapped its wings faster as the light grew... And much faster, it started to struggle... I see a flash...

A burst of light... and the bat vanishes into thin air! I feel like there's someone else in the room... seems to be hiding.

It's so awesome, it feels like a dream! Is it a dream or a vision? Not sure this time.

Saturday arrives.

- Luigi, change your clothes! Let's go to the bakery!

- Okay.

We walked down the street hand in hand. And, out of nowhere, Luigi comments:

- Mom, I dreamed of a bat, and the other day, of a vampire.

- What did Luigi dream of? – I asked in surprise.

- I dreamed that my father was showing a house, that he was going to sell it, and a cloud of bats came to get me. – he tells, scared.

- And what did you do in the dream?

- I got scared and woke up!

Coincidence... later, I call Livia:

- No, it wasn't a dream! It's the eshu-bat! Luigi was used by God to let you know you had a vision! He has the gift, you see?

- Who is this eshu? What does it do?

- I don't know...

We searched the internet and found nothing.

- How did it come?

- Contamination, from the father's house.

- Really?!

- Yes, it came from there! – he says with absolute certainty.

- Luigi arrived from his father's house prostrated. There was nothing wrong with his throat, no fever, no pain. And, coincidentally, I got tired too...maybe it has to do with it! Does he drain the victim's energies since he's a bat?

- I really can't tell.

- Well, he's gone anyway! I thank the angel of the Lord who took care of me. I need to hang up, I'm going to study with Luigi now.

- Okay, see you. Send a kiss to him too.

- Kisses for all.

Days later I meet my mother at the mall. We went to the food court:

- Do you know what I remembered now, mom? Edgar bought a stuffed bat for Luigi. You saw him last week when you went home.

- I don't remember.

- You saw it and had it thrown away! He said it was horrible!

- Luigi threw it away?

- No, he hid it in the wardrobe.

- Now I remember... how a father can buy such a horrible gift? – she asks, not satisfied.

- Did the eshu come through him?

- They always come through something... - she replies thoughtfully.

We finish lunch and walk around the mall. When I get home, I look for the stuffed animal and throw it in the trash.

During the week, I call Luigi to do his homework on the balcony. It takes him time to solve the exercises, he cracks jokes, making math mistakes. He's been like this lately. I get nervous, I scold him, and he cries.

- No more crying, Luigi! It's late and you're tired, let's go to bed!

I hug him and he calms down.

- Will you lie with me, mom? Are we going to pray before going to bed? – he asks, worried.

- Yes, I'll lie down on the mattress, and we'll pray.

- Okay.

- Our Father, which art in heaven! Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread.

During prayer, I have a vision...

A bat watched us as we studied.

- And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

There are more bats then! I will expel them:

- Get out of this house now: all defilement, all the spirit of darkness, in the name of Jesus! Get off this child! Get out of my life! Jesus, deliver us from all evil, please send your angels now to protect and guard us! Amen.

After prayers, the house was at peace and Luigi slept peacefully. Thank you, God, for showing the hidden and for yet another victory!

As I call him to sleep, I daydream: "Now it makes sense the apparitions of the vampire denture, the shadow, and the bat; they are all intertwined. Edgar has a dark and hidden side, love, and anger live together in his heart."

I sleep peacefully.

The days went by, and each time I fasted, the entities moved away, and, simultaneously, my mood increased, and I felt better and stronger.

I never saw them again...
