33 Chapter 33 : Dampened mood

Kelly was whistling around cheerfully. Lately, her mood has been very good. Her uncle gave her more allowance this month, her shoes were brand new, and the thought of the upcoming Mr. Gilbert's downfall put a wide smile on that girl's face. Her steps were so light she almost skipping. When you are in a good mood, it could make even this uselessly long hall look like a garden of blooming flowers.

She was about to take a turn when she heard murmuring noises. She glanced casually to the side and found there was quite a crowd in front of the news board.

Intrigued by the commotion, Kelly gingerly made her way into the crowd. Thanks to her slim figure, she could easily squeeze through the gap of people. In no time at all, she stood in front of the object of the commotion.

Her pupils dilated after she had finished reading the content of today's announcement. She never thought the first thing she encountered in this wonderful morning was about this.

Her especially good mood dampened in an instant. She turned around and forcefully shoved the people around her, prompting a yelp of surprise and reproach from all sides. However, Kelly paid no attention to them as she split the crowd by rushing her body forward.

After successfully making her way out of the crowd, she walked briskly while biting her nail anxiously. "That useless girl. Why does she need to get into trouble NOW? Out of all times?"

Kelly was almost half running at this point. Her legs brought her to the desolate area at the back of the gymnasium. Impatiently, she took out her phone and sent Eirlys a message, demanding her to come immediately.

[Where are you? Have you read this morning's news? We need to talk. I am in the back of the gymnasium. Come here now! Right away!]

Kelly was pacing around with a troubled expression. Just a little bit more, and finally, they could teach Mr. Gilbert a lesson, but this had to happen now.

She hated to admit it, but she was fully aware of what Eirlys was capable of. Eirlys was a crucial part of their plan. She was the brain of their operation, and they couldn't act without her. Eirlys was level-headed and more tenacious than she let out, so Kelly trusted her enough not to back out after coming this far, but she couldn't help but worry under this unexpected situation. Hence, she had to talk to her right now!

If that girl was expelled around this time, then how about their plan? After meticulously carrying it out for the past week, she was unwilling to back down now!

Her phone vibrated in her hand. She hurriedly opened the new incoming message.

[Not now. Everyone's attention is on me now. You don't want to ruin our plan right? Then stick to it until the end].

She furiously tapped the keypad on her monitor screen. [This won't affect our grand plan right? You are the one who started this. Take responsibility and look after it until the end!]

There was no response for a while after that, making Kelly even more anxious. [Hey answer me!], [Don't ignore me!], [Are you really going to continue this way?].

"Stop sending me so many messages. I'm here."

Kelly raised her head and she felt slightly better after seeing Eirlys with her usually stoic face. Usually, she found her expression very annoying, but somehow that same expression gave her a sense of relief as if nothing would ever change.

However, in the next second, Kelly snapped out of his stupor. She frantically looked around as she hastily approached her

"What are you doing? Didn't you say we shouldn't meet?" She asked hurriedly with a tense expression.

"I didn't plan to come here either. I was just on the way to class from the bathroom."

What bullshit. Why does she need to go past here if she came from the bathroom? The gymnasium was clearly not anywhere near one. Somehow Kelly had a feeling that Eirlys was looking down on her intelligence. She felt terribly unpleasant and offended.

Regardless, they didn't have time to waste here.

"What is this about you being called to a disciplinary meeting? Why so sudden?"

Eirlys shrugged her shoulders indifferently. "How should I know that? And why are you so surprised? I already told you I was on the verge of expulsion from the beginning."

Kelly was so distraught she momentarily forgot about Eirlys's situation. That's right. Actually, the reason she did all of this, isn't to prevent this precise situation?

"What are you going to do now? There won't be any change in our plan right?" Kelly defensively folded her arms.

Eirlys' gaze was fixed to the grass, as she looked deep in thought. "If there is a change, the plan will need to proceed faster than the original plan. I didn't have much time left. It's a race against time now."

Upon hearing her affirmation, Kelly unconsciously let out a sigh of relief. Her shoulders loosened up and her previous worry was dispelled just by that statement alone.

"What is your next plan?" asked Kelly.

Eirlys stared at Kelly for a while before answering. "I will compile all the evidence tonight."

Kelly's face brightened as she nodded her head enthusiastically. "Are you finally going to expose it all? Send me a copy of the evidence too. We couldn't be sure what will happen to you, so better to have me keep it as well. Just in case."

Eirlys pondered a bit before nodding her head. "Good idea. I'll send the evidence to you later." After that, she took a glance at her phone. "The class is about to start, I will leave first. Wait for 5 minutes here. We can't show up together."

Kelly didn't like Eirlys giving her order, but since she was in the good mood today, she would let it slide once. She should be grateful for her magnanimity. "Yeah, yeah. Just go."

Kelly watched Eirlys retreating back in a daze until she was completely gone from her sight. She bit her thumb nervously as she weighed down her option. Kelly was frowning hard as she went through a mental war inwardly.

Finally, as if she finally made her decision, she looked in the direction where Eirlys left and she muttered. "Sorry."

Then, she unlocked her phone and dialed someone's contact. Her hand was slightly trembling as she waited for her call to be connected. After a few seconds, the call was picked up, and a charming deep voice greeted her.

"It's about time you call me, Clarkson."

Kelly was silent. She wasn't sure if this was the correct thing to do. She hesitated a lot before finally deciding to do this. She felt horrible, uncomfortable, and extremely guilty inside. She forcefully suppressed those feelings as she gulped nervously.

"Mr. Gilbert. I will send the evidence to you today. She is going to compile all the evidence as quickly as possible."

Mr. Gilbert let out a wicked chuckle. "Good girl. I know I can count on you. Don't worry, your secrets are safe with me as long as you keep being obedient."

Kelly gritted her teeth, trying to quell the massive anger on her belly. "I am not your pet. You have to keep your promise. You'll delete that picture if I send you all the evidence she has gathered."

"Which one? The one of you buying a cheat sheet? Or when you enjoyed your nightlife in the bar?"

The color was drained from Kelly's face as her whole body shook greatly. Her ears sting under his evil taunt, and tears threaten to spill from her eyes. However, she stubbornly swallowed down her fear and let out a snort. "Do that, and see what I will do with the evidence. I will not let you control me anymore!"

"Did I hit the nerve? It seems that the kitten is trying to show their claws now. How cute," he said amusedly. However, in the next second, his tone grew considerably colder. "Make sure you have all the evidence tonight. Don't let Williams pull a trick on you. She is very skeptical and more cunning than she looks. Don't let her catch you acting suspiciously."

Kelly sneered in a ridiculing manner. "Getting such high praise from you, she must have scared the life out of you."

"Scared? Why should I? She is going to disappear soon anyway. As she should have been." said Mr. Gilbert indifferently. "Don't make any mistake or the deal is off."

With that, he hung up on her. Kelly wanted to smash her phone to vent out her frustration, but changed her mind after remembering her phone was still new. She was so tense earlier she didn't notice she was breaking in a cold sweat. She wiped her temple with her palm as she watched the clear sky above.

She let out a bitter laugh. "What am I doing exactly? I was the one who told her not to believe his nonsense."

She barely did anything, but her body felt abnormally exhausted. Kelly dragged her feet languidly to the direction of her classroom as she remembered Eirlys's resolute expression when she asked her for cooperation. Once again, she felt a pang of guilt inside.

'I looked down on her, acting tough and brave, but I immediately cowering in fear after being threatened once. Compared to her, I am so pathetic.'

Kelly pressed her lip in a thin line, feeling frustrated and angry inside. However, she knew that those feelings were directed to herself rather than others.

She did feel bad for betraying Eirlys's trust, but she didn't have another choice. It was not her fault Eirlys offended the powerful ones and scheming against the wrong person. She was neither her friend nor they were particularly close with each other. Yes, that girl only had herself to blame. It's not her fault at all!
