Chapter 12 : A New Achievement (1)

The morning was colder than usual since the rain was pouring almost non-stop all night yesterday. I shivered when I opened the window and a cold breeze hit me. The smell of petrichor wafted in my nose, bringing a pleasant and refreshing sensation.

I reminded myself to bring my jacket later on, as I rose to prepare for school.

Today's breakfast is egg toast with bacon. I munched on my toast while occasionally taking a sip of my tea.

Yesterday, I went home pretty late. By the time I got home, my body felt heavy as if being tied down by a huge metal ball. Ignoring my rumbling stomach, I took a bath and went to sleep just like that. So, this morning I was especially hungry.

I was chomping on my bacon as I wondered what I should do next. I could have asked the bus company if there was any passenger who found my wallet, but honestly, I didn't have much confidence that my wallet would come back to me.

Well, fortunately, I didn't bring huge amounts of cash into it. Nevertheless, my heart was still wrenched in pain if I remember the loss of a few dollars in my wallet. Every penny was precious to me! I scolded myself inwardly for being careless.

I finished my breakfast, then walked outside. After making sure I locked the door and the gate properly, I started to make my way to school. The morning air was still fresh as it hit me on the face. The street in the morning was still empty with few exceptions of people who wanted to start their business.

Since I didn't have my bus card with me, I already made a plan to walk to the school earlier this morning. The distance was not that far away, and I could use some exercise. I used to walk to the school like this even before Grandpa suggested I take a bus so as to save my time and effort. It's like I was back in the old days.

It took me an hour of walking at a leisure pace before I arrived at the school. It looked like I arrived too early since the school was still quiet without any sign of people.

I stepped into the classroom and found the class was still empty. I could see my desk clearly even from a few meters away. It stood out badly amongst the other regular desks in class.

Many things happened yesterday, I didn't have any chance to clean it. But now that I looked at it closely, it seemed there are more scribbles on it than yesterday? The trash is back too.

I huffed in annoyance. They really didn't have anything better to do. They must've done this after I went home yesterday, seeing there was no one here yet.

With a frown on my face, I proceeded to clean my desk. Thankfully, I always keep my cleaning supplies in my locker, in case something like this happens.

By the time I finished, the class was already crowded with students. No one paid any attention to me as always, which was something I was thankful for. I sat on my chair and pulled out my homework and double-checked it to kill time. When I started to immerse myself, a figure came in front of me.

I raised my head and saw a short and plump boy, with sleek black hair and chubby cheeks sneered at me. This person was Harry Michelson. One of those who bullied me the most. Compared to Carla, his bullying method was crude and impetuous. He usually came to harass me when he was in a bad mood.

"Give me your homework," said Harry in an impatient and demanding manner. His eyes were full of hostility towards me.

This is gonna be another tiring day...

I braced myself for the worst, as I gave him a polite smile. "Why do you want my homework?"

"Are you questioning me right now? Just give me your damn homework!" His frown got deeper and his hand was spread open in front of me.

Did he stupid or what? What makes him think I'm gonna give it to him just like that?

I feigned a fearful expression, as I reluctantly said, "But, the bell is going to ring soon, and if I don't have my homework..."

"Who cares about you?! I don't give a shit about you, just hand over your homework!" Harry snapped at me, making our dispute become a free show for everybody to watch. I could hear my other classmates start to whisper, without any intention to help me.

What should I do with this spoiled young master? Harry was the second son of the Michelson family which was famous for its chain restaurants. That's why he could bully anyone he wanted without any fear or burden. His family donated a lot to this school, turning him into one of those kids who like to flaunt their might around.

He thinks very highly about himself, but how can someone bear this young master's willfulness? If they hated me for my background, they hated Harry for his nasty personality.

I was not the only one he bullied. However, he bullied me the most, since he always thought that somehow I stole his limelight. For him, I was like rain in his parade, a thorn in his flesh, an alarm on the weekend. Absolutely a nuisance and an eyesore.

And this is just another episode of his display of authority, I shouldn't draw out this matter, or he'd turn berserk.

With a forced smile, I gave him my homework book. He seized it from me with a click of his tongue. "Should've done so since the beginning. Loser."

He left just like that, leaving the others with disappointment for not having any interesting show happen. Aren't they bored watching the same thing over and over again?

*RIP *RIP

Then, I could hear the sound of paper being ripped. Harry was ripping my book with a satisfied face. His followers laughed at me for being a fool and gave Harry praises to curry favor with him. Harry seemed pleased with this. I guessed bullying me was a kind of stress reliever method for him. What a sicko.
