I and Charlie stared at Alex's trembling figure in confusion. He laughed so hard he had to hold his stomach.
As for what he was laughing about, I had no clue at all.
"Big brother? Why are you laughing?"
Alex needed time to compose himself before he answered casually, "Ah, it's nothing. I just found your little argument funny, that's all."
He made a coughing sound. "Anyway. You should stop pressing the issue, Charlie. Can't you see you were making her uncomfortable?"
Charlie was stunned, and her face became dejected. I frantically denied his claim. "I wasn't uncomfortable at all!"
Alex paid no mind to me and stared at Charlie sharply. "You can ask, but you can't force her to talk. Don't be willful."
Charlie looked down with grievance and stubbornness written all over her face. She pressed her lips together and without uttering a single word.
