Chapter 11

Mr San stood outside his house facing his only daughter's hut.She was a gem to him, his happiness and adored her. He walked towards the hut and opened it still standing at the door as her sweet baby scent filled his nostrils. Tears could be seen forming in his eyes. He had failed this little gem of his. He had pampered her and given her freedom but now he was taking away all of that from her and giving her away with no assurance she'd be alright and happy in a family where there were other women ruling the house. Would his little pumpkin survive all these. He had refused to marry again because he didn't want chaos like in his father's homestead and the woman he married was the most peaceful woman he'd ever come across in his entire life. In their twenty two years of marriage she had given him peace that most of his friends out there lacked and he was a happy man. His family came back to him after disowning him for ten years. His mother in particular, she'd been against his decision of marrying only one wife but after ten years of watching afar to this son she'd decided to be happy for him and blessed his marriage. She had after five years passed on and he was really heartbroken but with this little pumpkin she was a replica of his mother. His heart constricted as he watched her neatly arranged things and just like her brothers she loved painting and carving and made ornaments too which decorated her room. He was a proud father as few girls could do this apart from the household chores expected of them. He was planning to take her on the other side of the major river where he believed she would get all the best things and perhaps get education as the place was far more developed than this other side. He wondered where she'd be at and he remembered her best friend Raine and if she wasn't there he could check out the places she loved spending her time in. As he turned to left he met eyes with Mr Fin, Raine's father and a good friend of his. With his presence here he could tell everything was just wrong and he could only cry in the inside. His heart was crying out to his little gem to come to him.
