That day they were in for another surprise.
Several large boxes arrived from the adventures guild in the evening, accompanied by a letter addressed to Elena. As she read the letter, Elena burst into tears, falling to her knees.
Shocked, everyone rushed to her. Andrew knelt down, attempting to console her, but she sobbed so intensely that he felt helpless.
After a couple of minutes, when her emotions settled, she wiped her tears and showed the letter to Andrew, who stood like a statue after reading it, trickle of tears visible in his eyes. Mary, standing nearby, took the letter from his hand, and her reaction almost mirrored Elena's. George, puzzled, took the letter and read it. Silence filled the room. His face expressing a range of emotions from shock to joy, sadness, embarrassment, and pride.
Observing all this, Lilly grew truly curious. She slowly approached her grandfather and took the letter from him. It read,
"Aunt Elena, during Rose's birthday, I noticed that the jewelry and gold set aside for Lilly and Rose's future as dowry were not enough. My sisters should not feel insecure; they must be self-sufficient and have enough to support their future families. Here are 60,000 gold coins for Lilly, my dearest sister. Next year, by the same time, you will receive another 60,000 gold coins from the adventurers guild for my dear princess sister Rose. Please ensure these funds are utilized for their future.
In case of any family emergency, feel free to utilize them, but I request you to keep me updated so that I can assist from my end.
Before you say something, let me tell you that, Gold does not hold any value in my eyes. For me, my family comes first. You were the ones who showed me how a family should be. You were the ones who accepted me when my own father felt helpless to keep me in the family. You were the ones who made me feel that even I, who was longing for affection and love since so long received that without any reservations. I really cannot repay the love and affection that I am receiving from my new family.
If you consider me as a family member, then do no think about the source of the gold. I have done what a brother should do to his sisters.
Thank you for providing me this opportunity to be of use to my family.
Ah... I wanted to say this for sooo.... long.
Yours lovingly,
Dave.
Note: None of the other's knows about this, and unlike last time, no one can take away the limelight I am supposed to be in."
Lilly could vividly imagine Dave's goofy grin."
She started sobbing hard. The amount shared was more than seven years of their family savings. How could someone be so generous? Not only that, he had even planned to give the same amount of gold for Rose too!
"We are truly blessed. From the day we met the boys, they have always given and never asked anything from us. We truly are blessed," Mary said with tears of happiness. Elen started sobbing again but noded in agreement with others.
"We never expected that a bit of love and affection we showed them could provide us and our family with such fortune. They put their lives on line, saving our goods the day we welcomed them with smiles. They all swept away our loss and suffering in the blink of an eye. They made our girls birthday so memorable that even now I am feeling like it was a dream. The boys are truly worthy of all the praise they received today," George
said proudly.
"Andrew, add the names of all the boys to our family tree. Even if they were already accepted by John and his family, they are equally a part of this family too." No one objected to George's suggestion; in fact, there were smiles on everyone's faces.
"Mother, father, grandma, and grandpa, I will be leaving for Green Town to study under grandma Helen," Lilly said with a determined look.
All the adults smiled and nodded. "Let's go to Green Town together. It's been a while since we've been there," Andrew suggested, receiving approval from everyone.
"We have a consignment scheduled to leave for Green Town in 10 days. We can join them," George happily announced. Lilly nodded, and Rose was also ecstatic to visit her grandparents house.
After arriving at the Morgan's estate, George recounted all that had happened since the boy's left to academy. Shock and pride were evident in all the Morgan's eyes. Their eyes were filled with emotion.
Lilly shared her aspiration to learn healing with Helen and mentioned the boys' suggestion. Helen gladly agreed to teach Lilly about the healing arts.
They commenced their lessons the very next day. Sharp and brilliant, Lilly absorbed the teachings effortlessly, like a sponge on a drop of water.
All the Heathrow's returned back after a couple of week. Lilly stayed back determined to learn as much as she can from Helen, Elizabeth and even Jean.
