Chapter 38: Success

After almost two weeks of waiting, the time that Cairo has been waiting for finally arrives. Cairo can finally see the results of his hard work!

Although Cairo might not be the one to do all the works, he still played an important role in it. Besides, in the earlier development, he tried to do everything by himself only to realize that it was far harder than he thought

Cairo immediately had Del accompany him to the underground cages in his lab where the five prisoners with the special parasitic worms are located

As of now, Cairo is almost not looking at the five like they are humans. His excitement got the best of him and it was the only thing he can feel

"Del, open the cage!" Cairo ordered his personal guard with urgency in his voice. Cairo is already annoyed at hearing his teachers forcing him to become a real mage as soon as possible despite his foundation still not being sturdy enough

Del sensed the feelings that Cairo's voice has and he didn't waste any more time to open the cage where the five humans are screaming

Cairo's worms are still not perfect and it has flaws but it will do for now. As soon as Cairo succeeded, he can increase his soul's quality and with the result already in his hands, he can ask Kira to have other people continue researching these parasites

If that happens, Cairo will benefit a lot and he can focus on his personal cultivation again

As soon as the cage was opened up, Cairo went in front of one of the captives and a rune lit up in his right palm. Cairo puts his palm on top of the man's head to start the extraction of the worms

"Y-Young Master .... t-that is ...!" Del commented in shock and Cairo smirks at him before the crystal in his palm floated into Del's direction

Del was shocked that Cairo nonchalantly threw what it seems like a treasure and he caught it in his hands while panicking a bit. Del starts inspecting the crystal but no matter where he looks at it, it really looks like a Crystal Soul Shard that even Cairo only managed to have a single piece

Cairo turned his eyes back at the prisoners and he saw that the first one already died. Cairo of course still felt some pity for them but he knew that their deaths are necessary for his growth. It cannot be help

Cairo continued and extracted the other four parasitic worms on the prisoners and all those worms turned into Crystal Soul Shards

However, it seems like Cairo's 'formula' is still flawed as one of the crystals has a crack in it and the power it holds was weaker than normal. The other four are completely fine though and it was already considered as a small fortune!

"Request an audience with the Queen again but this time, ask her to come here personally. Tell her that it is extremely important"

Del was still inspecting the crystal in his hand when he heard Cairo's voice and it didn't shock him that much. If Cairo really found a way to make artificial Crystal Soul Shards, it was really needed to talk with the Queen herself

Del immediately sent a message to the Queen through his magic phone

Since Del said that it was something urgent, Kira abandoned all her work. The Kingdom's affairs are extremely important but to Kira, her younger brother is still the most important

In fact, one of the biggest reasons why Kira even accepted being the Queen is because she wants to give Cairo a bright future

"Sister, I made these Crystal Soul Shards!" Cairo answered as if his words were the most natural thing to say

Kira of course wouldn't easily believe something like that as a lot of mages already tried making an artificial one. However, she still knows Cairo and the kid is not someone that will lie on something like this

Thus, Kira turned to look at Del that has complex emotions on his face. Del personally saw how the crystals came into being but it was extremely hard to believe that a kid that is still an Acolyte managed to do such a feat

Seeing Del's reactions, Kira was extremely shocked and she asked for details and Cairo starts explaining

"Sister, more than a month ago, in my research, I came across the treasures Crystal Souls and Crystal Soul Shards. They are treasures that are beneficial to mages but they are extremely rare and I yearned to have a steady supply of them"

"I know that it was a bit stupid of me to think that I can make artificial crystals since my level is still low but I had a great idea"

"Crystal Souls were filled with consciousness power, what if I try to condensed consciousness power? However, I know that a lot of mages already tried doing that and I also read some of their research"

"Thinking of it in a mage's viewpoint won't give me a result and I tried to find other ways without using the things I comprehended that much and this is the result!"

"Most mages will condense huge amounts of consciousness power in a short time to try making the crystal but I used a different route. I thought of doing the exact opposite"

"The parasitic worm that I requested can live inside a creature's consciousness realm for a few weeks and I had some Rune Masters engraved a magic that I personally develop"

"The host's consciousness power was slowly being sucked away by the engravings inside the worms and they were then stored inside a container that I put inside the worms and I succeeded! I managed to find a way to make crystal soul shards!"

"Unfortunately, the process is still not perfect. There is some damages crystal and all the hosts experienced extreme pain and they even died in the end"

Cairo plastered a sad expression on his face with the mention of his death as he knew that it wouldn't look good if he was unbothered by the deaths that he had caused

Too bad for Cairo that he is smart but is still inexperienced. Kira turned to look at Del to gain some confirmation and the Queen knew that Del has some things to say to her

"If the host will feel extreme pain and die, this would be a bit inhuman ... I have some second thoughts about using this" Kira commented and Cairo panicked a bit

"B-But sister, the Kingdom needs to have a steady supply of these crystals! T-they are bad prisoners, a lot of mages killed these prisoners without guaranteed success in their research. But using the worms to them ensured that their deaths wouldn't be in vain! " Cairo immediately said and it was already too late when he realizes what he was saying

It's just that Cairo feared that his efforts would be in vain. Cairo knows Kira. This woman is not stupid but she is also kind. Kira is the type of person that will only make inhuman moves if she doesn't have a choice

Cairo feared that Kira will try to find another way in helping the Kingdom's situation first before using the worms to produce the crystals. Thus, Cairo's true color was revealed by himself and Kira starts to worry again

Kira already saw this back in the Blood Sand Town, Cairo is the type of person that will do anything and everything to achieve his goal!

This is the thing that made Kira worried for Cairo the most but ... she ... she really cared for Cairo a lot. Kira wants to help Cairo and doing the same thing that most mages similar to Cairo experienced is not something she can do to him

"I'll have a secret meeting about this. Until then, don't use any of the worms yet and make this a top-secret!" Kira said before walking away and leaving Cairo disappointed
