Unpaid Dues (BL)

Yejun sighed as he got bored in his office room. He turned his swiveling chair around so he could see Seoul in all its glory through his crystal-clear glass wall. He smirked to himself when he had thought that he has Seoul in the palm of his hands. His thoughts were soon interrupted by his right-hand man. "Sir.... The Kims have escaped..." he informed. Yejun clearly didn't like the thought of people running away with his father's money... or even his. "The good news?" he asked as he propped up his elbow on his armrest and had rested his chin on his hand while is free hand danced on his desk. "They left their son you see.... His name is Kim Eungoo..."

Just Another Day

"Mr. Kim, are you with us?"

The tallest skinny man seated at the farthest back just right beside his window was pulled out from his thoughts. He was wearing thin clothes that he barely could afford despite the cold weather. His hair was a tad bit long and wore glasses. the said man nodded and glanced on the board to see have an idea on which part of the discussion they were in. He smiled and calmly answered the professor. The professor snickered as he wasn't really fond of an A straight student in class like Kim Eungoo.

Kim Eungoo had always had done the best he could to survive and achieve his dreams. He is a scholar in his dreamed university with his favorite hyung, Min Kwan. Favorite hyung... well... he was the only hyung he ever had. The two were inseparable since they were younger. His hyung not only became his friend but also stood as a brother he never had. Kwan even helped him with the application of the scholarship in their university as his guardian.

He remembered the day when Min Kwan knelt on the ground in front of the registrar to reconsider Eungoo even when the younger's parents were not present seeing that at that time Eungoo was under of age. Eungoo admired his hyung even more and was touched at how humble he was to go through these lengths for him. His friend even started pleading for her to accept Eungoo and apologized as he pretended that we're both brothers and our parents had died and he was trying to raise me all by himself; all of what he side were half-true anyway. The registrar felt conscious as the other parents started feeling sorry for them and already sending nasty glares in the registrar's direction. She sighed and made Kwan stand up and sign the papers.

Kwan Smiled and happily did so while his friend tried his best to cover his face as he was touched and embarrassed at the same time. After Eungoo was briefed of the reminders and conditions of his scholarship, Kwan was so thrilled that they ate out on a stake restaurant to celebrate… his treat.

As soon as the bell rang indicating lunch, he hurriedly cleaned up his desk and went infront of his teacher's desk and bowed respectfully before dashing through the door. He knows very much that the professor doesn't like him at all but he chose to understand the man more and did not planted anger in his heart.

He ran to their secret hideout as he usually spend his lunchtime with his Kwan-hyung at the rooftop. He was panting really hard since he doesn't have that much stamina and let alone energy left. He grunted really loud and paused when he heard a familiar chuckle right in front of him.

"Yah, Eungoo! Aren't you supposed to be used to this by now? You've been doing this for like 2 years." Min Kwan smiled, the stick of his lollipop holding out. He was wearing his favorite black leather jacket, plain white v-neck shirt and ripped jeans and brown boots to go with. His hyung was in a different department from he was. He wasn't quite sure as to why his hyung would want to take up the business industry but he knows that the man can pull it off anyway.

"You may think I should be used to this but you're wrong." Eungoo sighed. "You don't even work out and you're not even out of breath when you come up here." He whined.

"Meh! I use the elevator." Kwan shrugged

"CHEATER!" Eungoo laughed and they both went to their spot and pulled out the lunch they brought with.

Kwan quickly snatched, Eungoo's bento box and smiled while the other pouted. It was their routine. His hyung insisted that he would eat Eungoo's cooking and the younger would eat his. He didn't understand why endure his poisoned food but he didn't want to complain since he would get to eat his hyung's delicious cooking.

"Shouldn't you be used to the fact that you always do this during lunch for 2 years? You don't have to act like you're stealing them away." He mocked.

"That's because you will not have a chance of stealing them back." He stuck his tongue out completely forgetting that he was eating a lollipop as it fell on the ground. The both were silent and after awhile they laughed it off. Kwan took the dirtied candy and threw it off the building.

Eungoo gasped and slapped Kwan on the shoulder scolding him to never do that again and also lecturing him the possibility of hitting someone on the head with that.

"Then that would have been funny!" Kwan exclaimed as he began digging in on his new bento box. Eungoo couldn't help himself as he admired his hyung some more before eating his own food.

As soon as they finished eating, they tidied up their bento boxes and soon played song 'Epiphany' sung by a famous boy group they enjoyed listening to. Kwan laid down on Eungoo's lap and closed his eyes and decided to doze off, relaxing at the moment as Eungoo started playing with his hyung's fluffy raven hair.

"Hey, Eungoo." Kwan started. "You have a competition tomorrow right? Are you prepared?"

"Ofcourse I am. You know I'd always be." Eungoo cheekily said. It's not like he could boast such things. He had to win these competition since they have cash prizes. He needs to win first place because the highest always gets it all.

"And you know that I'd be cheering you on, right?" Kwan teased. He really stood up as Eungoo's parent as the older was never absent in any event that Eungoo participated in. He'd cheer and scream and even bring a board with his dongsaeng's name written all over it in bold letters and wave it in the crowd like a maniac and tell the person next to him 'that's my brother!!'.

"Don't bring that old board with you!"

"Why not? It's your good luck charm!" Kwan smiled and pinched Eungoo's cheek.

Eungoo grunted and began swatting away Kwan's hands as his hyung tried to pinch them some more. They soon stopped fooling around when they heard the bell rang indicating that they need to head back. He grunted and pushed Kwan off and stood up, holding his hand out for his hyung in which the other took it happily.

And just like that Eungoo's day went by smoothly. His classes finish earlier than his hyung so they can't go home together today which was fine. Eungoo took the train station to get to his part-time job. He works at this restaurant as a waiter. No one comes too often but the pay could make him eat atleast once a day. He sat on the vacant space and pulled out a book for him to read while the other passengers were either asleep or busy with their phones. He didn't have one and he knew for a fact that he didn't need one even when his hyung insisted him on getting one.

He could hear laughter infront of him and for a moment his eyes followed the sound. His heart sunk as it felt heavy to breath. He watched as the young couple were chatting with their hearts content and were so close with each other. He chewed on his lips before biting his tongue before negativity devour him completely as he wondered…

"Will I ever get to find happiness and love like them?

And just like that another uninteresting day went by… Boring and yet he had no choice to compline and go with it. Day by day…
