"Woah! Did you see that!"

The Father points out a large mushroom cloud explosion in the distance for his wife and two sons. The boys cry in fear in the backseat of the car as a giant Shockwave shatters all of the windows sending glass flying everywhere . The woman screams as the glass breaks then turns to the man with a look of terror "That was way too close for comfort , will we be okay? honey? honey?" her husband barely reacts to her voice as he is determined to get his family out of harms way.

Her voices comes into focus , and he responds "There is no way to know for sure, I'm not going to wait to find out." He hits the gas harder speeding up "If we can cross the border, we will get help and it will be safe... I promise"

But he knows this isn't true, he is a wanted man and he knows they will deny him entry; but maybe they will accept his family.. they had nothing to do with his transgressions after all.

"Daddy, I'm bleeding!" The younger child wails out, the parents look back and see a shard of Glass protruding from his left shoulder. The mother gasps, realizing that he is bleeding so much that he may bleed out if left unattended.

"That wound shouldn't be causing that much bleeding....somethings wrong." the father thinks to himself. He brings the car to a stop , ignoring everything around them to assist his son. "You're gonna be okay, just slow your breathing and relax to slow the bleeding" he says calmly, the little boy is hyperventilating and screaming in pain, "please dad , help me! it hurts..." tears begin to run down his face uncontrollably.

The father gets out of the car leaving the door open and rushes to the backseat to pull his son out. "Alright I'm gonna need to pull the shard of glass out , Brakus! hand me a shirt or something to tie off his arm to stop the bleeding." He motions to the older boy who is staring at his brother , seemingly in shock.

Brakus snaps out of it and pulls his own shirt off and hands it to him, knowing if he doesn't act quickly his brother may die. 'Boom!' Another large explosion goes off in the distance shaking the ground, the mother screams beginning to have a panic attack. "Hurry before he bleeds out or we get blown up!". With a determined look the father tells his son calmly , "Alright...alright, close your eyes and it will be over soon. I can't give you a warning for when I pull out the glass, any unnecessary movement will cause a hemorrhage" his hands betray his calm demeanor shaking more than the ground around them.

The young boy closes his eyes and just as he closes them the dad holds his hands steady, pulls the glass out and then quickly ties his arm off above the wound. "Honey, I'm gonna need you to sew the wound closed I don't have any free hands" his wife looks terrified but she knows what needs to be done; pulling out her sewing kit she rushes to her son, ready to begin stitching him up.

Her son winces in pain as she slowly sews his wound shut " we need to go NOW! I'll stay back here with him and keep the pressure on, this won't hold for long " she motions for her husband to get back in and drive "if we don't make it to the border none of us will make it" she says trying to act strong in front of her children, but on the inside she is losing her mind.

He gets back into the drivers seat and punches it full speed towards to border away from their war torn country. The border begins to come into view, he looks back at his wife and children and gives a smile to comfort them "We're gonna make it, once we get beyond that wall we will be in a neutral territory" he knows he won't be accepted at the border but he doesn't want to worry them , he just wants his family to be safe.

As they approach the wall soldiers meet them at the gates " We're gonna need some ID, the kids can cross for now" the soldier gestures to the kids to get out and come along with them , the mother gets angry "get away from my children! we came in together , you can't separate us!" The soldiers disregard her entirely , pulling the kids out of the back seats.

The fathers gets in their way trying to stop then "why cant you process our IDs on the other side? the whole country is falling apart! my wife goes with them" he hands them both IDs knowing they will turn him down but at least his family will be accepted. The soldier sighs "fine, the woman can go by with these children" he hands the IDs to the soldier next to him" process these on the other side, the man stays on this side. The wife erupts into anger "if we stay here we will die, aren't you supposed to be 'heroes', supposed to help us!" a soldier grabs her " ma'am relax, this is only a formality , we will protect him and if everything comes up clear he will be with you guys shortly".

"Fine, come on kids" she accepts it and they cross through the gate.

The soldiers turn to the father with a grim look "we know who you are but we didn't want to make a scene in front of your family out of respect." "We can't accept criminals, I'm sorry" the soldier has to follow orders, but his eyes tell him that he is truly concerned.

The wife and kids are sitting in a holding area waiting for the IDs to process when they hear a much louder explosion, quaking the ground, they run outside and see fire and smoke rising from behind the wall where the dad was. A missile struck right outside the border , the wife drops to her knees, aware of what just happened.
