"David, let's break up!"

Sarah Jensen's voice echoed through the small, secluded forest that bordered South River University's fields. David Lidell, her boyfriend, stood before her, his heart pounding with confusion and pain.

"Sarah, why? What did I do wrong? Why must you be so heartless?" he asked, his voice choked with emotion.

David and Sarah had been friends since high school, and they had started dating during their senior year. Despite his less-than-ideal family background, David was handsome, intelligent, and thoughtful - qualities that had made him a popular target for the female students. Sarah, too, was highly regarded, widely considered the most beautiful girl in their class, even though her grades didn't quite match David's.

Their relationship had not been without its challenges. Their teachers had expressed concern when they had first started dating, and only after repeated assurances that they would not let their studies suffer had the teachers relented. Their hard work had paid off, however, and they had both been accepted into South River University, a prestigious institution that had many aspiring students envious of their success.

However, David did not expect Sarah to start keeping her distance from him less than a year after he started university. Now, she was directly proposing breaking up with him.

In reality, he had noticed the changes in Sarah at the start of the semester. Whenever they were together, her mind seemed to be elsewhere. Furthermore, she would often make excuses to turn down the dates he proposed.

One Saturday, he even saw Sarah getting into the car of a notorious playboy from their class. Nevertheless, he comforted himself with the thought that they were probably just going to a friend's gathering.

But Sarah's proposal to break up today shattered David's illusions.

"David, let's part ways without any hard feelings and cherish the beautiful memories we made together, okay?"

"Sarah, please tell me, is it because of Leo Tate?"

"What if it is?"

"Sarah," David began, his tone grave. "Leo is infamous on campus for his playboy ways. He even got a fellow student pregnant last semester. Are you not aware of this?"

"Leo has already explained the situation to me," Sarah replied coolly. "It was a regrettable mistake made while both parties were under the influence. Moreover, it was the girl who made the first move. Leo even compensated her for the inconvenience."

"Don't be so naive, Sarah," David scoffed. "Leo is a notorious womanizer who dates multiple people at the same time. He's lying to you."

"David, I appreciate your concern, but I am not interested in hearing more about this," Sarah said, growing impatient. "I came here to convey a message and nothing more. Goodbye."

With that, Sarah turned to leave, but David halted her progress.

"Listen to me, Sarah," David implored, his voice urgent. "Leo is not a good person. Don't let him deceive you. Did he force you into this? I'm positive he did! I'm going to find him and give him a piece of my mind!"

Sarah pushed David's hand away and spoke with conviction, "David, you must stop lying to yourself and to others. Leo did not force me into this decision. I am willing to do what I must. The truth is, I don't want to be with you anymore. Once we graduate, we will have to work hard to earn enough money to buy a house, a car, and repay our loans. We will be tied down by our debts forever. I yearn to relish good food, wear fine clothes, and use extravagant things. Do you understand the extent of my desires? Look at this bag on my arm, it is the latest L Brand collection and it cost more than ten thousand dollars. If I stay with you, I will never be able to afford luxuries like this for the rest of my life. You cannot give me what Leo can."

"Leo is just toying with you, Sarah. He won't marry you. He's already ditched countless people," David pleaded one last time.

"Excuse me, Mr. David Lidell, it's not very kind to badmouth someone behind their back," a voice interrupted.

David and Sarah turned to see Leo striding over, decked out in designer clothes. Without a moment's hesitation, Leo reached out and grasped Sarah's waist.

"Leo, you're here," Sarah murmured, leaning into his embrace and looking adorably vulnerable.

Seeing Leo hold Sarah's waist the instant he arrived and the way Sarah melted into his arms was like a knife in David's heart. He knew that there was nothing more he could say. When a woman changed her mind, it was nearly impossible for her to turn back. He didn't want to witness their sickeningly sweet displays of affection, so he warned Sarah, "One day, Sarah, you'll regret the decision you made today."

"Wait," Leo called out to David as he was getting ready to leave.

Turning to Sarah, he said, "Sarah, you should go first. I'll come get you after I exchange a few words with David."

"Leo, let's leave together! I've broken up with David, so there's nothing left to talk about," Sarah replied.

"Don't worry, it's just a few words. It won't affect our relationship," Leo assured her.

"Alright, you should hurry. I'll wait for you at the campus entrance," Sarah said before glancing at the two of them and departing.

"Just spit it out. If you're expecting me to be battered and bruised after losing my love, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you. There are plenty of other girls out there, and I won't keep chasing the same one," David said to Leo.

Despite his bleeding heart, David stood stubbornly. He could display his devastation and heartbreak in front of Sarah and lose all dignity, but he would never show Leo this side of him.

"David, I want to tell you something," Leo said.

He took two steps forward and whispered in David's ear, "Sarah has such a hot body. You two have been together for so long, and I didn't expect you to still be... well, nevermind. I should go now. Sarah is waiting for me, and I've booked a presidential suite at the Golden Leaf Hotel! Do you know it? It's an eight-star hotel, and you'll never be able to afford a meal there for the rest of your life."

After saying that, Leo turned around and left, laughing carefreely. "Hahaha!"

David felt dizzy after hearing what Leo had said.

He had been with Sarah for four years, and during that time, they had only held hands and kissed. Whenever David tried to do something more, Sarah would stop him. She said she would only give him the best thing after they were married.

However, he did not expect Sarah to sleep with Leo after just a few days of being together...
