14 A Story From Leo's Past

Leo wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind her. He whispered in her ear, "calm down, Kitty." He gently pushed her towards the couch. "Let's sit down and actually talk all this all out." Leo felt her relax a little under his embrace, and she walked towards the couch. 'She's amazing.'

Will looked shocked. "I didn't even sense someone was listening in." He sat on the chair and watched the two go towards the couch.

Kitty sat down and stared at the laptop. She opened it up and turned it on. "If you try to stop me, I'll break it." It powered on. She typed out the password without asking for it. The computer loaded, and there were tons of files on the screen. She flipped through the articles that had to do with her hometown. "This isn't a new suspicion Leo. It looks like they have been eyeing this town for a while." She turned the computer towards him. "Will you couldn't sense me because I made it so you couldn't. Also, it is safe to talk; my barrier will hold strong. It's easier to use my powers when I am in my natural state."

Leo sat down beside Kitty and watched her unlock the laptop with ease. "Will, I don't understand everything either. I haven't been completely filled in yet. Circumstances have changed now." He took the computer and read through the files.

Will watched Kitty unlock his computer with ease. He didn't feel it was necessary to stop Kitty. "I was going to show this to you, Leo, but you rushed and took Kitty back to your room. I just got these files in an email this morning." He looked down at the drink in his hands. "Is it a power that fox demons have to erase one's presence?"

Kitty watched Leo read through the files. "Leo?" She looked at him, scowling at the files. "I could ask you the same thing about hunters Will. You have the ability to make your presence unknown until it is too late. Then the blood lust hits." She shudders at the memory.

Leo puts the computer down and pulls her into his embrace. He feels Kitty relax under his embrace. He very affectionately whispered into her fox ears. "I will protect you, my love." He kept her in his embrace. "Will, thank you for letting me see these files. The head office left you a note not to show these to me. This will affect everyone who lives here. Some humans reside here as well. Tell me what you know so that we can start to plan for the future."

"Touche," Will blushed slightly at watching the intimacy between his best friend and his girlfriend. 'Am I this bad when I am with Sam?' He shook his head. He picked up his work computer and connected it to the printer that was underneath the table. He printed out a series of documents. "Leo, there are more than what you guys just read. I'll print off everything for you that way you two can review it together, and we can come up with the best course of action to take. I can understand why you lied to me when I asked if you sensed anything at dinner. Kitty, Leo is my best friend; please don't hold it against him for being a hunter. He has always had a soft spot for the mystical beings. Headquarters no longer sends him on certain missions because Leo has a heart of gold. The only missions he does are the more dangerous ones that involves supernatural killers that kill humans. I willing to bet that he hasn't explained everything to you yet." He stopped and took the stack of papers from the printer and then started to print something else. "Leo, if you don't tell her that story, I'll tell her."

Leo looked at his best friend. "Will, you have a big mouth, you know that?" He looked into Kitty's eyes. "I saved a young werewolf. His father was killed by another hunter while I was passing through an area. The young boy hid in my car while I was checking into a motel room. I went to the car and drove it to my room number. That was when I asked the kid to come out and join me in my room. I knew the kid wasn't human, but he was only about five years of age. I had bought food from a fast food place, carried them inside my room, and the kid followed me. I had no idea that his father was being hunted and told his son to escape." Leo's facial expression was full of grief. "I asked the kid his name and why he was in my car. I will never forget the fear on the kid's face, and his little body was trembling. I couldn't talk to him in his condition, so I opened the take-out bag that I had gotten for my lunch, and the little guy perked up a little. I offered him some fries and got him to sit at the table. I fed the little guy, he finally told me that his name was Luke. I told him to sleep on my bed, and we could talk in the morning. I went outside and smoked a cigar, and another hunter came to the motel I was staying at. He asked me if I had seen the boy. I told him that he was hitchhiking and was heading towards the next town to the south of us. I didn't give him up. I was only sixteen at the time. I finished my job while the kid was sleeping. I had a shower and came out of the shower without a shirt on; that was when Luke saw my hunter mark. The poor kid froze and started crying. It took me an hour to get him to stop. My job was done in this area, so I took Luke with me to one of my houses away from the area. The only reason Will knows about this story is because he caught me while I was trying to get Luke to go inside my place. I told Will I wouldn't turn Luke over to the organization. So between the two of us, we took care of him. Luke is now fifteen years old. It was not easy raising a werewolf, but it was interesting and gratifying. I'll introduce you to him when we go to my place."

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.

I do flip between being chatty and argumentative - and being a psycho-loner werewolf.
