Snake and Lion

Just as they were about to arrive at the cryo chamber that held the other specialist, all the lights went out. All extra noise that came with the power running through the ship also ceased. Now the silence was deafening, they could hear their own heartbeats. Pausing, Angel reaches into the darkness to grab a hold of Dr. Valencia's arm. Once he has her, he slowly moves forward, while trying to avoid the walls.

"D*mn, we were just about there too. Hey doc, would you happen to have a light source?" Angel asked, not wanting to push forward until they had ample light.

"Uh, hold on." She responded, as she used her free hand to quickly search her pockets. All that she found were creds and lint, nothing that could be used. Just as she was about to inform Angel that she had nothing the walls started to glow in a deep red. She wouldn't of thought much about it, but the light had a low fluctuation as it moved down the hallway.

"This will have to do, its better than nothing," she quickly told Angel. Who was looking at the walls in shock. "Don't shoot the walls, we need the light and cant risk giving away our position. We don't know what will happen." She continued.

"Yea, I hear you, and we don't need more freaks chasing us." He replied as he releases her arm so that he can have both on his weapon. He starts scanning as he moves forward at a slow pace. "We should reach the cryo chamber in five minutes, if we don't have any more unwanted guests. Though we will need to go through the vents in order to get there. Apparently some engineer a**hat thought it would be a great idea to have us hidden in the ship."

"Wait, what do you mean hidden?" Dr. Valencia asked Angel. "Isn't your purpose to protect us, why would they have you hidden away?"

"Simple Doc, if sh*t hit the fan, much like now." He started, "We wouldn't be wrapped up in it and could find a way to fix it. Now come on, we have been lucky thus far, and I don't like pushing my luck." He continues pushing forward in the now red lit corridor. Dr. Valencia sighs and follows him, not knowing what the higher ups were thinking when they designed that major flaw. After a few minutes of walking in silence, the duo hear a plopping sound. Looking at each other, Dr. Valencia gets behind Angel as he raises his weapon and focuses in the direction of the sound. It did not sound as if it was getting closer, and he was having difficulties seeing in the dim light.

"Let's keep moving, Doc." Angel whispers to Dr. Valencia, "I don't like that sound, and unlike you, I don't have a curious nature that you scientists tend to have."

"Don't worry, I'm not exactly that curious right now." She whispered back. "So lets just do as you suggested and keep moving." He nods at her and continues forward. After thirty steps he stops short. After thirty steps he stops short. Dr. Valencia stares at him as he starts to run his left hand on the wall. He continued until a latch opened revealing a hidden chamber in the ship, he ushers her into the room. Right as he was about to enter the room, the plopping noise stopped.

Angel raises a hand, giving the doctor the hand sign to hold position. He slowly entered the room as he rotated his body to face the door with his weapon raised. Though the room had working light, the only thing he saw in front of him was the strange webbing that was all over the walls. Just as he was about to relax, the webbing started to vibrate. Suddenly he was being stared at. This made him freeze. He was not expecting to be stared at by hundreds of humanlike eyes. But this isn't what made him freeze, it was seeing the eyes move as if floating down a river. Opening in the light and closing as soon as it was back in the dim red light. His body moves as fast as he could make it and hits the hatch release to close the latch. The door started to come down when a fleshy tentacle came and wrapped around his leg and pulled him towards the closing door. He was able to grab onto the ledge of the doorway and started to pull himself back into the room. Dr. Valencia ran towards the hatch release and stopped the doors closure, with just enough space to for Angel to pull his body through. She saw that Angel was in excruciating pain, but did not realize what was happening to him, as she tried to help him back into the room.

The tentacle that was wrapped around his leg, it sent small tendrils into his leg, through his pants. It started to drain the blood that was now pumping through his body at a fast rate due to adrenaline being in his blood. As well as moving through his blood vessels, towards his arms. Another tentacle came from around the corner and slowly moved towards the struggling man. As Dr. Valencia was pulling on his arms, small tendrils started popping out of his skin and slowly receded back into his arms. She looked upon this in abject horror.

"Let me go doc, get the other two up, go through the vent." Angel forces out through clenched teeth. She stares at him, and nods. But as she was about to let him go, she got showered in blood as another tentacle pierced the back of his head and wiggled in front of her face. Angels eyes rolled into the back of his head as Dr. Valencia let out a high pitch scream and scrambled to the wall that had the hatch release. Hitting it she stared wide eye at Angel as his head was removed from his body and she saw what appeared to be thousand of tendrils moving in his body from his exposed neck.

The body is slowly dragged out of the room, as the door came down on the limp arm. Severing it at the elbow. She stared at it for with eyes as big a dinner plates, and slowly moved toward the only vent in the room. Just as she was about to reach the vent, she saw movement out of the corner of her eye. She looks at Angels severed limb. What she sees terrifies her. His arm started moving, except it now had slim appendages coming out of the forearm. It looked like a centipede, but the movement was very rigid. She then heard flesh being torn. Out of the palm a wad of flesh fell to the ground, but she knew it was not even remotely human. The way that it moved made her think of a ball of worms. The hand started moving around as if it was the head of an animal. She slowly climbed up onto the counter right below the vent.

She held her breath as the arm started moving around, she realized that it could not see and was using the fingers as feelers to 'see'. Feeling slightly relieved, she grabs her plasma pistol and aims it at the creature. She fires one shot and hits the back of the arm. Once it connects the creature starts to squeal and thrashes its head back and forth. The back of the creature completely melts, and Dr. Valencia is assaulted with the sickening sweet smell of decay. She fires another shot and hits the hand. The squeals slow down and stop once it finishes melting. She quickly aims at the mass of worms and fires another shot melting the mass. Sighing with relief she eases down from the counter and starts to move towards the mess that was made. Suddenly she hears banging coming from the vent behind her. Jumping, she turns and aims her plasma pistol at the vent. After the fifth bang the vent falls, along with a young African man. Inside the vent she hears laughter as another young man comes out, this one appears to be Hispanic.

The young man in the vent comes out of the vent, and falls in front of the young African man, still laughing. Dr. Valencia backs away as she can tell the African man is starting to get mad at the Hispanic on the ground who is laughing hysterically at his misfortune.

"Aye, why don't you stop laughing." He states, in a thick accent. The young Hispanic man pauses to catch his breath and lets out a long breath of air.

"Fine, fine, I'll stop, but you have to admit it was funny." The other replies.

"No, it was not." He stops as he looks up and sees Dr. Valencia staring at them. "Hello my name is Akachi. Codename is Lion. Who might you be?" he asks.

"I'm Dr. Valencia Cortez, and since your awake I'm sure you know that the situation is dire." She replies.

"Hey, hey, hey, let me introduce myself, I'm Julian, silent 'J' not an 'H'. My Codename is Serpiente, or Snake for you English speakers." the Hispanic states, smile plastered on his face. "So what's the situation? Did Angel die? If so, did he go out with a bang?" he asks laughing nudging at Akachi.

"Quiet, with how much you talk I have difficulties believing you were Cartel." Akachi responds to Julian, with a stern look on his face.

"Well not everyone can be a child soldier like you. All stern, no fun." Julian responds, wearing a smirk on his face. Rage flashes in Akachi's eyes as he starts to move towards Julian with killing intent.

"Wait, Angel did die. And what remains of him is the puddles on the floor. But we need to get you two to the bridge. Without dying." Dr. Valencia states.

So I will be doing my best to release a new chapter every other day to every two days. I only got one computer and three kids in school. But this is also to ensure that what I release meets up with the quality that you, the readers, would want and enjoy.
