Near Death Experience

After ensuring that there were no more hostiles, he decided that he would need more light. He changed his destination from the thrusters to the engine room. It was imperative that he got the lights back up and working. Otherwise there was little chance he could save himself, let alone those in cryo. Suddenly a pocket on his pack started to vibrate. He quickly fished out an older transmitter that projected the body of the one he was speaking to. Suddenly in the dark there was a blue tinge that lit the area. Within the light was a middle age Indian who smiled at Faolan, who smiled back.

"Balveer, you crazy bastard, what are you doing awake?" Faolan asked.

In a thick accent Balveer responded with a smile, "If you wake up the rest of us wake up. Good thing too, these dumb kameene shot out your thrusters. So me and the others are enroute to secure your payload. But what is the situation there?"

"Don't know, but there is some fucked up shit going on. Pretty sure I'm rekilling everything I've meet thus far. Blades seem to be more effective then bullets. Keep that in mind. BTW what is your ETA?" Faolan asked Balveer.

"Roughly a month and a half, give or take." Balveer paused and seemed to ponder something. "Try to survive till then. Cobra out." The transmission was cut. Now with only his flashlights being used for light, Faolan felt a bit blind. He quickly readied his weapon and pushed futher into the darkness trying to find a staircase that went down.

As he was moving through and intersection, his leg was wrapped by a tentacle and he started to get dragged down the hallway. Not being able to see what had grabbed him he starts unloading his magazine into the darkness three rounds at a time. After nine trigger pulls, he ejects the mag and slides another one in. He starts firing again. But after the third trigger pull his weapon jammed. Not being able to see why it jammed, he lets the rifle fall as he pulls his 1911 and starts firing. That was when he got sight of what grabbed him. As he fired, he saw flashes of a huge mass with a gaping maw, it took up the entire hallway. He stopped firing and grabbed a throwing knife and flipped his wrist sending it twirling into the mouth of the monstrosity. As the blade sliced through the tender flesh of the interior of the mass, it starts to wail and fling its additional tentacles around. More importantly for Faolan, it released his leg. Without wasting a breath, he quickly rolls and jumps up, grabbing his rifle and sprints down the corridor. Taking a right, he smacks his back on the wall, listening for any more movement. All he could hear was his heartbeat and heavy breathing. Not wanting to get caught again and waste precious ammo, he quickly moves toward the stairway entrance that is fifty feet away. As he moved, he heard flesh tearing, and once he reaches the door, he uses his entire body weight to run through it, almost going over the ledge. Panting he closes the door and uses his bodyweight to act as a doorstop.

After a few minutes he managed to catch his breath. Standing up he peered through the hole that served as a window, he was met with an eyeless face. Eyes widening in shock, he witnessed it scrunch together and moved away, only to replaced with another. Only this one had eyes, and the moment they saw him it started to scream. Causing the thing it was attached to, to stop. Faolan, not wanting to be caught started jumping from the the railing to the next flight of stairs. He did this until he reached the bottom. And while his knees hated him, he reached the bottom as the door above slammed opened. Not wasting a second eh quickly rushed out of the stair way, and ran into a group of children.
