Chapter seventy three

Now it's Samuel and Mercy's introduction. As Samuel, his brothers, Amanda and his parents arrived, Mercy entered the room ( tradition. In the introduction, when the groom's family arrives, the bride will stay in the room till she's asked to come out by the groom's parents. And it is often done at the bride's house).

As they entered the house, Mercy's father, mother, younger sister, older brother, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews were there. They drove the little nieces and nephews to the room to stay with Mercy.

Okiemute ( tribe : Urhobo, meaning : My time has come, status : Mercy's mom) went to greet them, and welcome them in.

William ( Mercy's father) could not even stop smiling. Amanda is his good little friend, and Mr Maxwell is his good friend from both work and outside work. And now, they will be family.

" Leo, my friend " William said, then went to hug him.

" you are gonna be my in-law soon " Leo said, then hugged him back.

" yes, after he pays the bride price, then they are already married. But you know children of nowadays, they want the white wedding as a compulsory " William said.

" you also did white wedding, don't forget that " Leo said, then they both started laughing.

Anthony, Kelvin ( who had just came back from his NYSC for his brother's introduction, and his to go back as soon as possible. So he plans on going, the next day. It's not a compulsory thing that Kelvin has to be there, he just came because Samuel, Anthony and Amanda wanted him there. But if Kelvin wasn't doing something this important, it would be a bad thing for him not to show up) Amanda and Samuel sat beside each other. Samuel just kept smiling...

" Samuel, you should have twins " Amanda said as if she was ordering him. The three boys started laughing...

" you're saying it as if he's the one putting the children in the womb " Anthony said in the middle of their laughter. They stopped laughing, within four seconds...without seeing it coming, Amanda spoke again...

" when Mercy is pregnant, do again for second pregnancy. Then she will have twins " they all started laughing again.

Now, everyone has taken their seat. William is appreciating them...

" I'm thankful that this lovely my family will now be a part of your family. My daughter has made the right decision by accepting your marriage proposal " he paused for a while, then continued...

" marriage is not something you can play with. Who you are getting married to, is the person you will spend your entire life and money with " William said. They all started giggling.

" abi, nor be truth? ( isn't that correct?) " William asked everyone.

" na so ( that's correct) " they all replied.

" and when the both of you are having problems, you don't need to show it outside, have your problems inside your house. And if it's getting out of hand, tell us your family, and we will help you in solving it " Leo said. Samuel just quietly listened to everything they were telling him. After all, all this advice was meant for him.

" you will always support your wife. If she's doing wrong, tell her. And if she's doing right, support her. Look at me and my wife " William said, then used himself and his wife as an example...

" if we are arguing, we don't let outsiders know about it. We solve our problems by ourselves, or my family helps us in solving them. Leo is a very good friend of mine. He's the only friend that knows the problems in my family. And Amanda my little friend, when I'm missing my kids ( when they would go to school) she would come to comfort me. Leo helps me with all my problems. Is not all your friends you're gonna tell your family problems to, you'll tell only the one you can trust " William said.

" and another thing, you will have to drop money for food. Wives, they want money for everything. So be a good husband, and give her money to take care of the house and family. If you don't give her money, she won't give you food o " Leo said, then they all laughed.

" serious? " Samuel asked in the middle of their laughter.

" not only food, but that thing that men need in their life " Leo added, then they laughed even more.

" your mother have done it to me " Leo whispered it to his son's ear. Samuel was really surprised.

After all the advice about marriage, Okiemute brought the kolanuts. The ones that could eat it, ate. Then the ones that couldn't, just drank the drink that was shared among them.

Mr Maxwell also brought his own refreshments, then Marian and Amanda shared it.
