Battling The Dark Demon Part 2

Blake, who already saw the othershore filled with wandering souls, woke up when a heavyweight struck him.

He turned around and saw Ella lying beside him. Ella intercepted his flight, crashing both of them into the wall.

"Who would believe that your tiny body possesses such a heavyweight?" Blake asked with a carefree laugh.

"I'm not tiny!" Ella pouted, forgetting that they just escaped death. Maybe Blake's carefree laughter is infectious.

"Hey! Did you guys forget me? Fine, I will just finish both of you," the dark demon spoke in a deep, non-human voice that was mixed with a growl.

"You could talk?" Blake asked with wide eyes.

"I told you the serum removed the deranged character, and I could re-transform to human," the dark demon roared angrily. It was angry because Blake was treating it like a primitive animal.

"Hey kiddo, you saved me, and I'm going to repay the favor. Once I get up, you run," Blake turned to Ella and spoke solemnly.

"I'm not a kid, and also, why do you want death? We could run together," Ella said with pleading eyes.

"Together? Maybe in the next life. I was never meant to see today," Blake said calmly while resting his back on the wall.

"Everybody was meant to see every day. Moreover, don't you have somebody who cares about you? Somebody, you want to live for?" Ella begged anxiously.

"Somebody who cares about me? She is already lost to time. As for me, I might not be a broken soul, but I'm a wandering soul without a purpose. So dying might not be bad. Just Heca…" Blake muttered, feeling the need to open up to someone.

While Hecate felt a sudden calmness of Blake's emotion. A normal mind is always chaotic. Always thinking about something necessary or unnecessary. It made her feel weird. Even as an Empress of the soul world, she might have never entered a state of total calmness.

"Time up!" the listening dark demon growled.

Blake stood up with a painful groan. After he stood up, he unsheathed his sword with his uninjured left hand. This made the dark demon focus. Although it might have sounded all-powerful, the anomalous Blake made it feel a fatal threat. The reason it did not attack all this while was that, after the release of the previous corrosive fume, it felt unstable internally. Luke was naturally not a dark demon, so using darkness elements and variants was stressful and painful.

Blake dashed at the dark demon. The dark demon swung its hand that had grown long, black nails at Blake. Blake abruptly went down on his knees while running, and used the initial momentum to slide at a fast speed, dodging the swung hand. At the same time, he passed under the spread legs of the dark demon. The dark demon was just a step from the wall. This aided Blake's plan. When he slid past the dark demon reaching its back, he stood up and stepped on the wall, using it to catapult himself onto the back of the dark demon. He was merely some distance from the nape of the dark demon.

He gripped the fur of the dark demon with his injured hand, which was shaky and transmitting gut-wrenching pain. Gritting his teeth, he ignored the pain. He stuck closely to the dark demon with his leg like a koala bear.

By this time, the dark demon was already thrashing its hand left and right. However, Blake remained glued to its body. With a strong power, he thrust his sword with his left hand into the middle of the back of the demon.

"Grrr!" The dark demon raised its head and roared thunderously in pain. The sword touched its spine. Black blood spurts on Blake, making him resemble a devil more than the dark demon, with his resolute eyes.

The dark demon increased the ferocity of its thrashing, trying to get the pest infesting it, off its body. Blake just lowered his body and stuck to the body of the dark demon when the demon's hand passed above him. Because of his position, the dark demon couldn't get him.

He withdrew his sword and stabbed the demon again, making it roar in agony.

He performed this action about five times, verifying his guess of Luke being partly deranged, or else the dark demon would have tried another action. It was getting weaker as time passed.

Suddenly, the dark demon flung itself backward at the wall, attempting to slam Blake against it. It was too late for Blake to move. However, the demons abruptly halted, throwing Blake off balance, but he managed to regain his balance with his powerful grip. His right hand was transmitting maximum pain. He was using all his willpower to ignore the pain.

He turned to the side of the dark demon's body, and he saw Ella. She was using her two hands holding her bow tightly with a flushed face, and her feet pressing against the ground. A black string was attached to the bow. When Blake traced the string, he saw that it was connected to a three-clawed hook in the dark demon. Without thinking much, he knew she shot an arrow at the dark demon, which changed into a three-clawed hook in the dark demon.

"Fool," Blake muttered with a sweet smile; however, it was not pleasing to the eyes because he was covered with black blood. He felt a warmth that he hadn't felt since he woke up. After that set-up which sent him to prison, he unconsciously considered humans to be self-centered, profit-seeking beings.

He resumed his stabbing, just a little faster because the dark demon might regain its sanity and dash forward. If it rams into Ella, her death is near.

After performing multiple thrusting with Ella holding the dark demon in place, it fell slowly to the ground with a loud rumble. Blake got off the demon with his right arm, which had burst arteries and veins, trembling. The injured arm was overworked in its injured state. He was also drenched in black blood from the dark demon.

"Haha, you think you won? When you go out there, those ruthless families will never allow you to have peace. They will try to enslave you," the dark demon said with a burst of carefree laughter and the voice of Luke. Blake was too tired to think deeply about it.

"Let's go," Blake muttered weakly and walked towards the entrance of the office.

Ella nodded and hurriedly followed him. When leaving, they were silent throughout the journey. Ella wanted to start a conversation, but the bloodied Blake made her a little frightened.

Blake took 'later' instantly. Anybody without the Universal system might freak out, seeing a crystal core form out of thin air.

When Blake and Ella came out, the nine people stared at them in shock but focused on Blake. Blake looked like he swam out of a sea of black blood.

"Is that the blood of a dark demon?" Scarlett exclaimed in shock.

"Yes," Ella said calmly.

Scarlett rushed and checked Ella thoroughly. The rest of the people looked at Scarlett strangely except Bob, verifying Blake's guess – they were unaware of Ella's origin.

Then, they all looked at Blake strangely. From Ella's lightly scratched armor, it takes little to no thinking to know who battled against the dark demon, actively and fiercely. Blake was just quiet with a straight face, making everybody wonder what he was thinking. While the rest of the people had their different schemes in mind.

"From now on, nobody at or below my level will attempt to kill you within my radar," proclaimed the man in yellow to Blake. This made Blake wonder who he was.

"Let's go in and catch that fiend," the man in yellow cloth, turned and said. They all walked into the cave.

"Ella, take Blake to the hospital," Scarlett said before joining them.

Scarlett suddenly halted and passed him a bag. "Before I forget, here is a virtual account containing forty-five thousand cosmic dollars. I have sent your login details to your Verse watch. And your crystal cores are inside the box," however, her last sentence was a whisper.

"I will be taking a break from school," Blake informed Scarlett calmly.

Scarlett nodded impatiently before walking away. Ethan threw Blake a spiteful glare.

———

Blake just came out of a small hospital with his right arm wrapped in white cloth. His veins were no longer bleeding, and his blood loss had been recovered by drinking a fist-size bag of red fluid. Medicine in this era is on another level. He has already changed into normal, soft cloth after showering in the hospital.

"Let's go to the school," Ella said as she ignited Scarlett's bike.

"You can go. I won't be coming," Blake said calmly, before walking away.

"But—"

"I need a break," Blake said without turning back. It was already 4 a.m.

He walked into a big hotel and asked the receptionist for a VIP room. He paid five thousand cosmic dollars for the night.

When he climbed into the big bed, he wanted to sleep, but Hecate popped out. He just ignored her and laid down.

"Why are you calm and free of worries?" Hecate asked as she sat elegantly on the edge of the bed.

"Since I woke up, I have been on multiple, unplanned adventures that can write the book of a legendary hero. The ape, the crystal core awaken beast with a gravity element, the dark demon… hell! At least, nobody will attempt to kill me for now. I will just relax for a while," Blake said calmly.

"Did you listen to his speech at all? He said, 'From now on, nobody at or below my level will attempt to kill you within my radar'. That means, if you are outside his radar, your death is none of his business. Secondly, do you know the perimeter of his radar? Maybe the size of his room. His speech was vague. If you look deeper, you will find more loopholes. You should know what that means – insincerity," Hecate explained calmly, with her ruby eyes glowing dimly in the dark.

"Can you let me sleep without worries? We can discuss that tomorrow," Blake muttered before dozing off.
