Chapter 10: Eight Years of Training (End)

Chapter 10: Eight Years of Training (End)

"It is a mysterious virus known to top doctors across the world," Geller began the introduction of the Fastiareporen virus.

According to what Geller had studied thousands of years ago, the wasteland desert wasn't a desert; it was the hub of a thriving civilization and housed a powerful Empire. The mythical God Knight stage wasn't imaginary at that point in time.

A God Knight established the Empire, and there were many other God Knights in the Emperor's camp. It looked as if nothing would ever change, and they were born to rule the world.

But suddenly, a terrifying, unknown incident occurred. The cause of the incident was the Fastiareporen virus. It appeared out of nowhere and infected the Emperor.

The Emperor began to grow mindless, and soon he was only left with a shell and no ability to think. But that wasn't the end, as the virus began to affect every God Knight after that.

Considering it contagious, the Knights tried to stay in isolation, but nothing stopped the spread of the virus, and it grew like wildfire.

In the span of a month, almost all the Knights in the Empire were afflicted with the virus. They started to grow mindless, but a point came when the mindless behavior suddenly turned violent.

A brutal war began between the Emperor and other Knights, ending the Empire line.

Geller's voice suddenly became low as he pressed his head forward and whispered something into Victor's ears.

Victor's ears expanded violently after hearing it. He couldn't help but look at Ryan with a grave expression.

"Why didn't I get the virus even though I have been in close proximity to Ryan for so many months?" Victor asked Geller after calming down.

"It was never contagious. As the researchers studied its history deeper and deeper, they found that all the God Knights were infected with the virus at once during one of the Emperor's campaigns," Geller answered.

If the virus was contagious, Geller wouldn't have been so gentle with Ryan and Victor.

After hearing Geller, Victor heaved a sigh of relief since he and Ryan had come into contact with too many people during the last few months. If the virus was contagious, Ryan would have indirectly committed a massacre.

"According to your story, the Emperor and other God Knights became violent in only around a month, but Ryan had been in this state for several months now, and he hadn't shown any attribute of violence," Victor asked.

"That is what is plaguing me," Geller didn't lie and honestly admitted his inability to answer that question.

"Don't tell anyone of this issue, or your nephew will be hunted by those fanatic researchers and priests of the Knowledge Church," Geller added.

If not for the life-saving favor Geller owed to Victor, even he would have tried to kidnap Ryan and hand him over to those fanatics; after all, it had been a long time since someone had been infected with the Fastioreporen virus.

"Thank you, I will keep that in mind," Victor sincerely thanked Geller. He couldn't help but shudder to imagine the scene of those priests chasing Ryan.

"Is there a way to treat Ryan?" Victor asked the most significant question. If there was a treatment, everything was well, but if there weren't one, then things were about to take an ugly turn for the Vechnos Kingdom.

"No, there is no known treatment for the virus," Geller answered, dimming whatever hope Victor had in his heart.

Geller might not consider himself the best, but Victor knew how capable he was. If Geller announced him to be the second most knowledgeable doctor, none would dare take first place. If not for his Sky Knight father, Geller would have been kidnapped by the three Empires.

"But there is a way to help the mindless behavior," Geller suddenly announced, seeing the downtrodden behavior of Victor.

While the conversation was going on, Ryan sat there mindlessly, not caring what the two people were discussing about him.

It had been five years since Ryan left the Vechnos Kingdom with his uncle.

The sudden bandit attack and the illness that followed changed the way Victor had planned things for Ryan. It had been more than a year since Victor learned about a terminal virus affecting his nephew.

According to Geller, there was only one way to change Ryan's mindless attribute, and that was motivation. As for the violent tendency, Geller had no answer for it. Even Frank, who was also infected with the virus and found the solution for the mindless behavior, lost himself to violence and died at the hands of his own son after killing his wife, daughter-in-law, and one grandson. Ryan was the only known person to get infected with the virus seven hundred years after Frank.

Since only motivation could cure the mindless attribute, Victor decided to focus on the group that attacked Ryan and the temple that day. That day was the cause of everything. The death of his friends gave motivation to Ryan to become strong and avenge them, so there was no better motivation than to find the group and hunt them.

As Geller had thought, the motivation to find the group began to work.

After a year of non-stop searching and spending money like water, Victor and Ryan finally found one of the group's meeting locations.

After reaching there, the duo found a shocking scene playing out. Several young boys with noble features, such as Ryan, were restrained to chairs while dark-skinned, bald men extracted their blood for experimentation purposes.

Ryan's eyes suddenly expanded violently as one of the dark-skinned bald men looked exactly like one of the attackers that day.

If Victor hadn't forcefully controlled Ryan, he would have charged at that man.

"Do you still hold onto that dream?" Loraine asked.

"No, I no longer want to become King," Ryan replied with a smile that neither looked sad nor happy, making Loraine feel as if a knife had been thrust at her heart.

The next moment, a cruel smile spread across Ryan's face as he proclaimed for the first time the vow he made that day, "I will become the Emperor of this world, and no one will be able to stop me!"
