After spending a good amount of hours at the mall,we decided it was time to head home. It was almost 5 p.m. and they were going to the beach at 7 p.m. As soon as I stepped in the house my mouth watered as I got the smell of steak.
My grandmother was waiting for me in the kitchen accompanied by a glass of wine in her hand. The kitchen was impeccable and a new hob had been installed.
"Something smells good."
" I will prepare a plate for you. Go wash yourself."
"Do you mind if I go out a little tonight?" My grandmother had never stopped me from doing anything, but I always asked her for an authorization just in case. I wished to go to the beach, but the idea of leaving my grandmother alone in a new place disgusted me.
" As long as you come home early, when I mean early I mean 10 p.m. And abstain yourself from drinking, have fun."
I was barely of legal drinking age, but that didn't prevent me from drinking some. I've on no occasion gone so far as to get drunk. I have always been careful about this. I knew she knew I drank sometimes, but We have never talked about it.
"I won't be late, did you get everything you needed today?"
Watching her serve me my steak, I couldn't wait to eat it to the fullest. I was a girl who liked to eat. I loved and breathed food.
"The bed will only arrive tomorrow, sorry Maddy, it's the fastest they could deliver. Now, sit down and eat."
I could survive one more night on the couch.
"Entrepreneurs, what about them?" I wanted to inquire so that I could leave the house when they were going to be there. I didn't want to trouble them when they tried to do their job.
"The day after tomorrow."
When I cut the steak, it disintegrated in my mouth as soon as it touched my tongue. My grandmother was an excellent cook.
" Everything is going as planned. I hope that we will soon be able to call this house our home."
"I hope not, my dear. I'm going to take This wine and a book under the porch. I'll see you before you leave."
After taking my bath, I stayed in my room, in a towel, looking at my valise. I was clueless on what to wear.
What do we wear to the beach in the evening? I took my cell phone and asked for advice from Alanna.
"What do you wear in the evening to the beach? "
Should I wear my bikini underneath?I hope not in this weather. But I didn't want to be the only one not to wear it.After all, I was trying to integrate.
"Everything you want but wear a bikini underneath. It can get wild sometimes lol but don't worry we'll take care of you :) come as soon as you're ready."
Jeans were my means of survival and the only thing I had. I had decided on a leopard-skin bikini, but I wasn't going to let people see it. I made myself a ponytail, bundled up the scarf around my neck and put it on my jacket.
It's now about shoes or boots
Fixing my white Nikes, I push my teeth into my lower lip. If I wear them, they won't come home white.I looked at the blacks and shrugged my shoulders. They will go with me.
I kissed my grandmother and went to Alanna's house. I heard loud music and chatter and I suddenly became nervous. The idea of people coming tonight didn't cross my mind. I enjoyed meeting new people, but that didn't mean I was good at it.
I was at the door and raised my hand and prepared to knock when the door opened. Jake was already standing there, with a beer in his hand and a deserting look on his face. Why was he staring at me like I did something? I hadn't done anything to him.He was the one who put his hands on me the other day.
Suddenly, he is forced out of the way and Alanna takes his place.
"You look hot, sweetheart . Come in, what do you want to drink?"
Looking at her house, I was stunned. Her house was beautiful. Everything was open and there were large windows at the back. We could See the forest miles around.
She picked up my coat and threw it on the couch in the corner. His eyes went through my body and I suddenly began to regret my coat. I had never been aware of my body before I met these girls.
"Maddy, your body is so sexy. I like it to be lace, it lets you see your bikini underneath." She winked at me and went to get me a drink. I assumed that the whole room was looking at me. Maybe wearing a criss-cross bodysuit was not the best idea. It had gone into my jeans, it didn't look out of place at all.
Suddenly I heard it again.
A bark, or what looked like a growl, went into and out of the room.
Suddenly, no one was staring at me anymore. Everyone was concerned back with what they were doing .I don't know why, but I was grateful.
"Vodka and lemonade with a lime zest?" She said with a smile. "Is everything all right?" She frowns.
" I swear I heard a growl, either that or I'm going crazy. I had a drink and I I went to the back windows. "Your house is beautiful, Alanna."
"Thank you. Jake designed it with my father."
"I love windows. If it were my house, I would never leave it."
"They did a good job. Tomorrow evening, we are organizing a dinner at my parents' house. You and your grandmother should come."
"I'll see if she's free."
"You should come. I'll be right back."
I was stagnant from this place until it was time to leave. I couldn't believe how magnificent the view was. I bet it's also beautiful in summer. I was starting to feel nervous. It was as if I had night sweats, but I was shaking at the same time. I don't know if going to the beach was a good idea. I think I was starting to have the flu.
While rubbing my arms, I noticed his reflection. He was staring at me again, standing in a corner with a glass of brown liquor. It took me everything I had not to turn away. The attraction was becoming unbearable and I had no idea of what provoked it.
I think the best place for me right now was my house.
"Finished, let's go." She handed me my jacket and I put it on, but I made no sign to go anywhere.
"Maddy, are you ok? Lacey put her hand on my forehead. "I feel like you're burning. Come and relax." She held my hand and made me sit on the couch.
Then she froze.
"No way" , she smiles, "I knew I was right"
"What, what's going on?"
"Nothing Maddy, stay there, I'll give you water."
"You will feel better soon, I promise you."
I put down the glass I had on the table, and I got up.
I sensed I was feeling abit better, but I was still a little hot. I entered the kitchen and heard low voices. I didn't want to be impolite , but I couldn't help trying to listen.
"You know it's rude to listen to people's conversations."His voice was harsh and deep.
I turned around and my eyes crossed his.
"It's also rude to stare, but you do it anyway!"
"Be careful with what you say, little girl."
When he came forward, I took a step back. I was still hesitant about him. I wanted to be close to him, but at the same time I wanted to be as distant as possible. He shouted dangerously.
"Do you still want to come with us?"
"Yes, I said at the same time that he said no."
Lacey smiled. I give him a black look.
She laughs, but Jake doesn't like it. If looks could kill, she would be dead and buried in their garden outside.
Currently, I am very unclear. These people were awkward, but I enjoyed being with them.
At the blare of a car's horn, Lacey took my hand.
"Let's have a little fun before the wicked big wolf does not explode. I chuckled, but I had no clue what she was talking about. It's only when I was in the car, ready to go, that I heard it again.
It's something I had not once heard in my life.
It was a growl followed by a dangerous scream. It was strong and fierce and it made me shiver, my body trembling. When I looked around the car, everyone lowered their heads. Not a word.
Fear.
The pain.
Joy?
" Hey, it's okay "whispers Lacey, taking my hand in her's. Surprisingly, I felt better, but I was no longer in the mood.
The cars have not yet moved.
"Lacey, who was it? He looked angry."
" Oh no!"She moans before the door opens suddenly.'
"Get your big ass out of this car right away." He whistles.
"Jake, I don't have…"
"Now Lacey." He roars, cutting her in her momentum. This guy was not joking. If Lacey were intelligent, she would listen to him.
"No beach tonight, guys, and you can thank Lacey for that."
When she went out, he took her arm and dragged her inside.
All the others began to disappear.
I was lonely behind someone's car.
I suppose it was already time to go home. What offended me was that no one noticed that I was still sitting there. It ached me a little.
