Floretia's Past

Surely there was a more meaningful reason for his summoning.

"I suppose we can remedy this later then. Why did you summon me here in the first place?"

Nea was very pleased to hear this question. After all this was the main discussion she wanted to have from the beginning.

"Dear Poltas, the vast universe of Floretia is very complicated. I will only tell you a summary of the information you will need for your journey."

Poltas accepted her offer and followed Nea to the hall's end. Once both of them sat down, Nea continued.

At the beginning Floretia was a limitless land acting as the home of many magical creatures. They occupied the land as small communities, living far apart from each other.

Later due to interspecies relationships, humans came to be. Unlike other species which were satisfied with their space, humans were an invasive species. By reproducing much faster than they would die, humans quickly outgrew the land allotted to them.

In the end the elders from all species were unwilling to give humans more land. So a brave hero amongst the humans pledged to find land beyond the danger zones for his people.

The brave hero, Mercial, travelled with a small group of humans beyond the Eastern Seas to look for land, only to find that the turbulent waters were lined by whirlpools and monstrous sea creatures. With no way to bypass these, they turned back.

But afterwards it seemed that no matter which direction they searched, there was no way to overcome the ends. The West had wild beasts and insects coupled with earthquakes and tornados, the North had uninhabitable cold and the south had continuous volcanic eruptions.

These seemed to be the limits of the world. Unlike Earth, which Poltas came from, Floretia seemed to be a flat world with physical boundaries on all sides.

At the end of his journey, Mercial understood why the other species did not want to give more land to humans, and formed the Light Faction which abided by the rules of controlled species growth. But some humans were greedy and wanted to encroach onto more areas, and therefore started attacking nearby species.

A bloody war took place where many lives were lost, and in the end the Dark Faction was born. Although it was started by humans, the Dark Faction also contained members of other species who believed that land should be granted to individuals based on their powers instead of species.

Since then the Light Faction has been at war with the Dark Faction. Over the years many Heroes have appeared on both sides to facilitate the war, and with them came the birth of Guardians.

Guardians were born from nature and did not belong to any species. Their purpose was to protect their Hero's followers. The lifespan of a Guardian was directly related to the Hero's followers. If all of the followers died, then the Guardian would lose their power and return to nature.

To prolong their lives, Guardians started using their influence to allow new Heroes to appear amongst their people, or they would manage their people closely to ensure survival.

Nea was one of the oldest guardians of Floretia born in the Light Faction, but that was her only achievement. All the Heroes produced amongst her people had very little to no role in the fight against the Dark Faction. But because they fulfilled the criteria of being a Hero, Nea was able to continue her life.

But in the last decade, an Overpowered Hero had appeared and completely defeated the Dark Faction's Heroes. Unable to find a hero in time, Nea had no choice but to manage her people.

Unfortunately Nea lacked the skills to produce someone who would lead her people well. That is why she spent all her merits to bring a human from another universe.

And this human was Poltas Clairwood, who was now in the body of a woman.

Hearing her explanation did not help Poltas understand his situation. The whole story was quite grand and possibly filled with hidden mysteries. But what could he, a health sciences major who graduated and became a NEET, do for her people?

"Dear Poltas, after witnessing your methodological planning and execution of revenge, I came to the conclusion that you are a good candidate for my people. Under your guidance they will not go down the wrong path and they will also not suffer injustice. I request of you to aid my people, and earn merits for yourself along the way."

Nea's words seem to come from her heart, in reality she couldn't afford anyone better. The cheapest realm she could buy from was Earth, and on Earth she could only afford people with low potential, such as NEETs or the elderly. Amongst the NEETs, most of them were not socially skilled, or they had too much vitality. In the end Poltas, who was near his death, was her best choice.

"So you want me to show up and just be a manager of your people?"

"No dear Poltas, not at all. You will simply have to complete quests for me. After completing a certain number of quests, you will be promoted to the position of a Knight or even the Leader. Everything else will be up to you."

Poltas thought he had not been summoned, but his soul had transmigrated into a video game that required him to build his own empire.
