1) Thinking of yesterday...

POV: Carissa

Sitting in my car, I was trying to hold back tears. How had I ended up here? As I looked out the car window, cops were rushing around with the EMS team trying to catch everyone and get their reports made... but it all seemed like a blur. All I could think about was yesterday and the crazy day that had lead me to just this moment.

The dumb alarm was blaring on the side table, signaling that it was 6am. "Ugh, I hate early mornings." I mumbled as I got up to turn off the alarm. Stretching and yawning, I started trying to figure out what to wear for the day. It was going to be a long day of working, between client appointments and being at the court house for different cases. Looking over to my left, I smiled at the sweet innocent face smiling and cooing back at me. "Good morning Jason." My little 2 month old son cooed and reached for me to pick him up from his crib. He was the only bright spot in my days - as my marriage was crap. Shaking my head, I refused to go there and just scooped him up and headed for the closet to start my day.

After showering and getting him and me together, I began loading him and everything up to drive to my parent's house. My mother loved watching Jason while I worked - although I always worried that Aaron would come to take him away. My phone buzzed as I was walking out the door, but I ignored it due to having so much in my arms. Throwing everything in the car, I proceeded to get Jason into his car seat and realized he had answered the phone and was cooing into the phone. Oh great - I could see from the caller ID that it was Aaron. "Hello." I answered - holding the phone precariously between my shoulder and ear to clip the car seat straps. "Hey, how are you?" Aaron replied. Rolling my eyes at the attempt to be polite after all the drama he had been creating lately. "I'm fine. What do you need, Aaron? I'm running late to work." Silence echoed from the other side of the phone. "I just need to talk to you... in person. Can we met up sometime today?" Aaron asked. Before I could reply, I hear voices talking on his end of the phone and calling him. "Hey - I've got to run but I'll text you later to set up a time and place. Okay?" he asked - then replied "Bye" and hung up before I could even say anything. "Ugh!" I grounded out as I rolled my eyes to the sky. This was just so like Aaron to demand his way and not leave room to argue - but I didn't have time to think about it and instead looked at my little son, kissed his forehead as I ensured I had snapped all the clips and then rounded the car to head to my moms.
