Lu Tian decided not to drive his car and walked to the restaurant since it was only down the street from his company. Plus, his wife had driven her own car, so there was no need for him to drive.

After all, his plan is to 'bump' into her as she leaves. Once she realizes that he didn't drive, she'll offer him a ride and with the weather, there's no way she will let him walk in the rain.
