Chapter 24

The grey-eyed woman locked Leonard's eyes which still showed a deep sense of regret.

'If I hadn't ignored you, this terrible thing would never have happened to you, honey. Because of my selfishness, I almost plunged you into the abyss of darkness. If I didn't come on time, I didn't know what would happen. Oh God, thank you for saving my lover.' Leonard whispered in his heart.

Of course, being stared at so deeply and gently by a man who was in love made Calista's eyes heat up. Not because of sadness but because of happiness for being loved so deeply.

Unable to hold back the tears again, Calista rolled down her smooth cheeks. Leonard's fingers stretched out to wipe away the tears.

"Don't ever shed another tear, honey. I don't want to be the reason you cry. Get it?"

Calista nodded.

Leonard took her slender body back into his arms and began to kiss the top of her head, forehead, eyes, and nose.

When he turned to her luscious lips, he stared at her for a long time before deciding to bring his lips together.

She warmly welcomed his kiss, and she wrapped her arms around his neck. On the sidelines kissing lips, he smiled. Now his one hand was pressing her nape to deepen their kiss.

Whether this action was right or wrong, it was clear that Leonard just wanted to pour out a deep longing. One thing that revolved in his mind was why Calista was so warm to welcome his kiss? Didn't she already have a boyfriend?

Calista, lost in longing, again shed tears, so Leonard immediately broke the kiss.

"Did I hurt you, baby?" Leonard's voice was soft and tickled her ears.

She shook her head slowly then narrowed her eyes when Leonard called her baby.

"Baby… Is that a nickname for me?"

"Yes, Calista. Baby... My love nickname for you," Leonard replied while pinching her cheek and then bringing her back into his arms.

'What should I do now? Should I take her back to her apartment or mine? But, if I bring her to my apartment, won't she be angry and misunderstood? But, I also can't bear to leave her alone in her apartment. I'm sure she is still traumatised by what happened earlier.' Leonard thought.

The one who was being called "Baby" immediately looked up.

"Hmm."

"How about you staying at my apartment tonight?" Leonard suggested.

Calista immediately broke the hug, staring intently at Leonard's black eyes.

"Take me back to my apartment, please."

"But baby..." Leonard showered the pair of grey eyes with extreme worry.

"I'm fine, and thanks for helping me."

"Are you sure?"

Calista nodded.

"Okay," said Leonard, and then he caressed the top of her head.

Leonard immediately drove the car at high speed towards Calista's apartment. His One hand-hooked between her tiny fingers. Although she repeatedly convinced him to focus on driving, he only responded with a smile.

Not long after, the car that took them away had arrived at Calista's apartment.

"How did you know my apartment address? I never told you. Don't tell me you've been following me."

"You don't like it, baby?"

"So, it's true that you've been following me all this time?"

'I'm sorry, baby. That's all I did because I couldn't bear to be away from you.' Leonard thought.

"I didn't think you could do all this."

'I can't believe this. How can you suspect me?' Calista muttered in her heart.

Calista's face was instantly bent, even though it didn't reduce her beauty at all.

Calista directly opened the car door, but Leonard's strong hands pulled it first until the door closed again.

For the time being, Leonard's face was closer to Calista. The distance was so tight that it made Calista feel his warm breaths brushing her skin's surface. Shortly after, the grey eyes closed as he drew his face closer.

She could feel the warm springy thing brushing along her luscious lips. At first, Leonard just wanted to kiss her briefly, but who would have thought that touching her luscious lips made him out of control.

What happened next was his tongue sinking in to touch each part of her mouth. He immediately pulled his lips away when he felt that she was starting to run out of breath. He then pressed his forehead against hers.

"Let me walk you up to the top."

"No need."

Leonard immediately looked away from the beautiful face staring at him with a warning.

"Why can't I, Baby? I just want to make sure you are safe in your room."

'I know why you forbade me to take you to your room. You must be afraid of your lover, right?' Leonard thought.

'If you already know that she has a boyfriend, why are you still chasing her? Wake up, Leo, wake up. Don't be a homewrecker!' Leonard's inner heart immediately whispered a warning.

One more thing Leonard thought was as long as Calista was still comfortable welcoming his kisses, he would fight for it even though she already has a lover.

He indeed promised to snatch her from the irresponsible lover, her lover who left her in danger.

Now, the two of them walked side by side into her apartment. No doubt, they both managed to steal the attention of all residents who were passing by.

Not wanting to be a spectacle, Leonard immediately stepped his feet towards the elevator. He then turned his face to Calista as if asking, 'Which floor do you live on?'

Without answering, Calista stretched out her fingers by pressing the top number.

It was typical that Calista could live on the top floor of an apartment as luxurious as this, considering she was Kafeel's daughter. And this must be because of her beloved brother's intervention, Calvino Luz Kafeel.

"Don't forget to take a shower and get some rest, okay?"

Before leaving the apartment, Leonard immediately showered the top of her head with affectionate kisses.

"Thank you for driving me home."

Leonard replied with a warm smile.

"Be careful." Said Calista.

"Sure, baby, come on in!" Leonard made sure Calista entered her apartment first before actually leaving her.

However, he held his intention to leave after hearing the commotion going on inside. He then decided to peek through the gap in the door that didn't close tightly, although he couldn't clearly see the one inside Calista's apartment.

"Where have you been at this hour, huh? I'm worried about you. Is this how you live here, huh? My decision to put you here was a big mistake then." His eyes were filled with anger and worry at the same time.

"I didn't know you were still here," Calista replied.

"You expect your brother to come back to Jakarta so you can be free? Is that what you mean, huh? Who are you taking home with?"

Leonard, who was behind the door, could only hear faintly. He wanted to go in and defend Calista from the man's anger, but he immediately stopped his intention.

He walked with vast strides. But, after only a few steps, a baritone voice stopped him. He directly turned around slowly to see who it was.

He gasped when he met the man who was staring at him furiously. This man was the same man he had met in the lobby a few days ago, only for now he could see him clearly.

It turned out that his face was very similar to Calista. The two of them were like betel nuts cut in half.

One thing engraved in Leonard's mind was that if two people have very similar faces, God destined them to coexist. His chest then violently rumbled because of jealousy.
